Sorry for being pedantic. Phoebe Waller-Bridge didn't really write Killing Eve but did ( 4 episodes). I think Luke Jennings should get some credit for his 3 Novellas that inspired it. Great video as always.

Really enjoy Endeavour. It has the pacing of more traditional British crime dramas, like it’s source show Inspector Morse. The 1960s-70s setting also works well for it.
Poirot is one of the all time best British crime shows. Agatha Christie had a well known gift for writing murder mysteries, and David Suchet truly made Poirot into a fully realised character.
A Touch of Frost, because who doesn’t love David Jason?

@Garry Jeffery - Happy Valley is one of the best TV programmes in the last decade and Sally Wainwright is writing genius. The only silver lining of her not getting round to the next series (if it happens) is that she had written Gentleman Jack which is also superb, but not a crime drama obviously.

You have excellent TV taste, first with comedies and then these.
Have you ever seen ‘No Offence’ on Channel 4? Sooo good, a (dark) drama but funny in a realistic and equally dark workplace style. And only 3 shortish seasons. There should have been 4 though.

Great choices, particularly with 'The Night Manager' and 'Luther' both deserve more recognition. A series which I loved many years ago and can recommend was 'Wire In The Blood' with Robson Green playing Dr. Tony Hill from 2002 - 2008, well worth checking out.

  • @andrewbaker7839

Try "Unforgottten". Deep, complex, slow-burn. thoughtful.
It makes a particular point of focussing on the people affected by the crime, and the investigations.
Some of the endings are "thoughful", "complex" and some might even say "controversial".
There are four series of six programs to look at. You can probably watch them in any order, except I'd say watch series 4 last. Series two is the deepest, the most disturbing and probably the best. It is not always easy to watch - it covers extremely emotive subjects and doens't pull its punches.

Not a bad list. Killing Eve, brilliant. Bodyguard, i just thought ok. Started very strong, then though only 6 episodes had a lot of extraneous stuff in it. If they'd paired back they could have made a great show with 5, maybe even 4 episodes. Giri Haji, and Luther I've never seen, but will check out now.
The Night Manager (love Hugh Laurie) had great production values. I couldn't get over a major plot point though i thought spoiled it. You've a very intelligent, savvy, secretive, high level, paranoid, shady business man. Then, just cos someone saved his son from having his lunch money robbed lets a complete stranger into the very heart of his organisation, Naarrrrr. Maybe plausible some 30yrs ago when the book it's based on came out, but not now, surely.
Re my likes. Anything Agatha Christie, Partic Poirot. Lewis, Morse, Chance. But best of all, Sherlock Holmes. The ITV drama series. Ran mid 80's to mid 90's, starring Jeremy Brett. My fave Holmes of them all :)

What about Line of Duty; these story lines are based on real events; throughout the several series to date there's a common thread of corruption/story-line, which though you might be watching series 5 for example, stretches back to say series 2. It has a very real feel about it. Spooks is another one (M I5) - at the time of first airing a few years back certain episodes felt quite topical.
