50 gallon tanks 5 flowerhorns put in at same time. bare bottom with an empty tank no ornaments. What you think and and advice? I know crazy but 5 better then 2-3 i think and no territories should help. thoughts?
I got the tank done and stocked. Good advice about heavy stocking.. I kept Mbuna for years, so I understand.. I have 2 Convicts and sure nuf, they bred. Convicts are nasty little fish and are chasing everyone. I had to remove the female to reduce their aggression. Since then over half the babies have been eaten. All my south and centrals are still juvies. 3 inchers. The 2 Oscars and Vieja and True Parrot are larger, but still 1/3 grown. I like your video for the 2nd time. Whats your favorite tank boss choice for me ?
Zonatus he has other in the tank in breeding dress and display coloration. Most vieja cichlid change color drastically depending on mood, stress, background and substrate color
Great advice I will soon be buying a tank this exact size would like it deeper but would rather have the height but there’s the need to get the thing through the doorways any more than 2 foot it just wouldn’t go through the doorway but 2 foot footprint 30 inches tall 6 feet long it’s still pretty monstrous can’t wait this is a beautiful tank I personally would add a bit more variety like turtles Couple of fire track eels Jardini Maybe defo a pair of Oscars you’re obviously specialising in the Americans awesome you should be proud 👍😬

@@balakesfishroom7651 just don’t feed them to anything really don’t like those sort of videos baby mice being fed to snakeheads and all that sort of stuff horrible so cruel and unnecessary if you ask me I get the impression that’s not your thing I definitely will be uploading my tank once I get going with it shouldn’t be too long now
I’ve been keeping and breeding large centrals for 30 years and the problem with these videos is sure they until they don’t. It’s not uncommon to have a single wipe an entire tank overnight, you can’t prevent or predict that. That’s why this isn’t done…
How aggressive are the Veija Cichlids? Can they go with Green Terror, Firemouth, Severum, Geophagus, Acaras ? Currently have a 75g with those and a Flagtail Protulotus, Pink Tail Chalceus, Blood Parrot, Synodontis cats, Bichir and plecos
I am currently running American and African cichlids together currently every one of my fish are babies I had the same thought process as you that if you start them out young you can minimize aggression were as throwing adult fish together of course they will try to kill each other as they have no familiarity with each other I’ve got convicts dempseys thopheus got two baby black nastys got a fire mouth bumblebee cichlids etc etc in a 125
You are the only person on here doing this. I didn't realize how rare central/south american cichlid community tanks are in the hobby.

Viejas can be very territorial but in a community they should be fine. I’d upgrade to a 150g to add more fish but should be fine

You need spare tanks when keeping American Cichlids or atleast a divider on hand.
