It only seems 5 minutes ago we were celebrating a million subscribers. In no time flat another 100,000 have joined the fold and it's really not hard to understand why, your infectious passion for the hobby is something I look forward to seeing even though I personally only have a 10 gallon tank with a handful of Harlequins. Here's to the next million. 😊
I love how you can spend almost 15 minutes talking about a specific kind of fish. Your knowledge is impressive and it shows how much you love the hobby and your pets. 💛
I love your freestyle videos. Your passion comes through and it’s like being there with you having a nice chat. Thank you so much for always sharing so much knowledge. I always enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family ! ❤️
Joey- you don't get told this enough- the aquascape in your tanks is topnotch! Lots of people don't do a lot of aquascape when they have big fish. I do. And i enjoy seeing other do it. Good stuff!
I agree. Just got a fairly large one as my new centrepiece fish, and it is quickly my favourite after many years owning different cichlids. I am hoping it will go great with a school of small fish that it hopefully wont eat. It has the best personality. Severum vibes. He seems perfectly happy without any other uaru in the tank. Loves playing with dead leaves.
I overlooked these for years. Thanks for showing them off, now I really want them. I get tired of feeling like every tank I have is full of cage fighters, some cool looking peaceful cichlids would be awesome.
Joey, you should put more leaf litter on the bottom of the Uaru tank. It would go very well with the "Trunks" on the trees. Or other matter that would survive better. Like Rachel has in her Lake Tanganyika tank.
Gorgeous fish, thanks for doing a spotlight on them. I'll never have the room to have a big tank and I wouldn't really want one I don't think, but it's fish like this that keep you saying "some day... maybe".
Love ur vids dude one of the main reasons I got into the hobby is because of u ur a huge person in the hobby and u have so much information to give never stop marking vids!
Thanks Joey! This was a great video! You should definitely do more videos like this one. Lots of info is great! You made me want to start my own tank with them in it.
When you are dedicating a video for a particular fish; name the video with the species name, as it helps those who seek guidance on how to take care of species they own. A suggestion.
Joey, you have some amazing tanks. The last thing you need are new ideas right now. However, I was watching your flood aversion video, and saw your Exodons. It made me think of something I hope to eventually do. Green Spotted Puffers are one of my favorites, but for many years was unaware they were a heavy Brackish/reef fish. To make things a little more interesting there are light brackish/fresh Figure 8 puffers, and a rare green puffer that looks a lot like GSPs and are often confused. It would be interesting to see a 120 salt with GSPs and a 120 fresh with Figure 8s and talk about the differences in care. You can trust me that their personality and feeding response makes the experience worthwhile if you run out of other ideas.
Very well done video. Thanks for sharing. Your fish look great, as always. For most of us it would be difficult to answer the question about "if you could only own one fish, which one would it be?"I myself could NEVER settle on one type of fish. It would mean having one aquarium, so if the available space in one's room limits the size of the tank, then this will further limit what fish you could keep. Being in the aquarium fish keeping hobby means we don't settle on just one type of fish. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year to you, Joey, and all of my fellow fish keepers.
I’ve got a group of 10 Uaru about 4 inches now and starting to change color. I came home from an extended trip for work and all their tails are chewed up and they have scars all over their faces. I did a big water change and added some slime coat and they seem to be improving. I’m wondering if they were fighting or could they have gotten sick while I was away? Regardless it may be time to move some fish.
That was really interesting Joey, thank you. I didn't realise how beautiful they are with the colours and the irridesence. A fish that I think I would like to have in the future when I have room in my tank. Are they happy kept as just one or is there a minimum number to keep together? Look forward to some more fish specific videos, they really are interesting and informative. (Still trying to work out my video for the contest - hate the fact that it will be on UA-cam, cameras don't like me LOL x)
If I wanted to start a small aquarium in Australia, what fish would you recommend? It's 3am and your videos keep me awake at night because now I feel I can appreciate fish :D
Hey Joey, love every video mate. First time I've ever had a thought for something that might be helpful for your viewers. Could you put the names of things in writing on the screen? I'm pretty sure it's not your accent and just the fact I've never heard of the fish that is making it tough for me to catch the name. Cheers brother. Have a happy and safe Christmas
4000th like on this video WOOT. so ive been thinking about something lately and was kinda curios as to why you dont feature silver arowana in your gallery. I have been watching you for a while and cant figure out why there isnt a silver in the gallery. i recently picked one up and its been a joy. but not trying to rant, ill do that in the video im working on. Thanks for keeping me inspired! me and my kids love what you do
I'm getting another tank soon, its a 120 gallon and I've been wondering what to get for it. I love big fish but want something peaceful, then i see your video. You've sold me on them! I agree they are very pretty. Ooooohhh i can't wait! ;)
It would be interesting to see how shell dwellers would get along with these guys being that they have a tendency to hang out at the bottom of the tank
Would you consider an outdoor pond with sturgeon I saw on one of your videos you like sturgeon Rod at predatory fins has some that's a relatively small I'm sure you could work with the pond guy and have an awesome setup
I have a 6x4 with 8 uaru at around 8 years old and between 10 inches (females) and 13 inch males. I have 4 breeding pairs there and I raise a new gen every couple of months. I have a 6×2 with around 40 juvies which I sell once they get to around 15 cm. They are my all time favorite fish.
I was guessing a flower horn. ❤❤❤ Love your channel BTW the fish I had the longest was a goldfish I won at a fair. It lived 4 years and was friendly. She was named goldie and reminds me of Frank because of his personality.
Joey I really think you’d like bluegill sunfish, they are a seriously underrated fish, very personable, native to most of the US (and I assume Canada) they are very similar to cichlids, but don’t have all the bright colors. I have 5 and they can get some blue on their gills and some can get red breasts, but both of my adults have dark breasts. They don’t require a heater, they like planted tanks, and will eat anything they can fit into their mouth. Smaller tank mates might not be a great idea, but same size or bigger work great, they are semi aggressive, but with a 75+ tank there should be no problem.
Hey Joey, I love watching your videos!!! I am from Barrie Ontario, a fellow Canadian. Have you ever heard of anyone having yellow belly perch or have you considered it yourself? We have them in our lakes here, but i have thought that they would be a good aquarium fish. They are pretty aggressive when it comes to food and amazing colours!! Let me know what you think?
My fishes also eat anything that’s in the tank and they don’t even have teeth 😅 I learned it the hard way. It’s a good thing I didn’t landscape my tank and just buy a small plant on a wood. After the fishes ate all the Java moss and Marimo moss, the tank is now plant less. Since this is my first tank, I wasn’t aware that some fishes will eat everything within a day or two. It doesn’t help that there’s barely any information on the climbing perch so even trying to find the minimum size of the tank needed for this fish or finding out if this fish are solitary or not is time consuming.
Hi guys! Looking for advice for my future 75 gallon, I currently have a tiger Oscar and blood parrot. Thoughts about maybe 5 pictus cats alone with a bristlenose?? Thank you guys!!!
Hey Joey!!! I'm the one asking about Halifax aquatic clubs etc.... Looove seeing Timmy!!!! I always enjoy you video's! I LOOOVE learning from you!! You've taught me sooo much!! ALSO wanted to say... I grew up around Truro... Have a feeling we mqy know each other or of each other OR have Mutual friends :-)
Hey Joey, please please keep datnoids. I haven't seen you have one. They are also high contrasting fish and can stay in communities with each having such personality. Moreover, it is also a common practice for arowana keepers to keep them with asian arowanas as they also help keep the tank free from leftovers from the arowanas. thanks.

That's my favorite tank in the gallery .. Such intriguing fish. Absolutely beautiful👍👍👍
When you really look into the tank I get what you mean! They are a interesting and beautiful fish 🐟, great story Joey thanks for sharing.
I overlooked these for years. Thanks for showing them off, now I really want them. I get tired of feeling like every tank I have is full of cage fighters, some cool looking peaceful cichlids would be awesome.
Great tank and super fish. I love them. Have a Merry Christmas.

Another inspiring video joey. Keep up the good work. 🐠🐠🐟🐟
Would love to see a small rack with 4-5 ten gallon micro tanks showing easy-low tech planting strategies, stocking and such.
Love ur vids dude one of the main reasons I got into the hobby is because of u ur a huge person in the hobby and u have so much information to give never stop marking vids!

Can u do a series where u go through all ur fish and give facts and explain them to us
Love the info you gave in your species spotlight, we want more!!!
You nailed it. No scripts needed.
HEY KING OF DIY! Have you ever had apistogramma macmasteri fish? I have waited this Uaru video for a long time! Merry cristmas and happy new year!
Maybe do some Timmy merch?!?!? Hehehe he's tooo stinkin cute!! I LOVE TIMMY!!
Merry Christmas Joey ☃️🎄❄
Uaru In Brazil are actully more expensive than most discus
That’s actually interesting. I wonder what the huge price swap in the States and Canada is for then. Shipping shouldn’t swap prices.
Great video Joey. My new favorite fish

I think that the "poor man discus" looks even better than the discus. It is beautiful
just by listening to joey excitement and passion in his voice let me know that he really love the Uaru.
This video was awesome I like when it’s free flowing.
Love this tank. How the hell do you get those branches poking up? Love it
Such a hard question to answer! They are a cool and rare fish to keep. Thanks for sharing

I keep a small group of Panda Uarus since few weeks - F1 juveniles of 2 inches.
Great anecdote technique you used for the introduction of the video!
If I wanted to start a small aquarium in Australia, what fish would you recommend? It's 3am and your videos keep me awake at night because now I feel I can appreciate fish :D
My favourite fish I've ever kept is Kribensis, super cheap, small, colourful and super interesting to watch them interact and care for the babies
Great video, about great fish. I had them 18 years ago and now have returned desire to keep them again.
Gorgeous... Love them in a Blackwater aquarium
I've bred thousands of Cichlids. various breeding and brooding types. They are spectacular fish and could keep a hobbyist occupied a lifetime.
this video helped. never cared about the damn things before... Pretty neat

Merry Christmas Joey! And everyone else! Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Doing videos like this about "fish of the week" type deal is cool. Hope you do more :) Also where is the flagfish?
Exactly. Ive been trying to get a uaru for 2 years now with no luck. And im always keeping an eye on availability
Awesome, I think they look really nice! I think I’d keep a bristlenose or hoplo catfish.
Love the uaru Joey There real nice up close an more colourful than ud think 😁😀😀
It would be interesting to see how shell dwellers would get along with these guys being that they have a tendency to hang out at the bottom of the tank
I was guessing that you would go for the rays... do I get half a point?
Love these species profile videos.
Would you consider an outdoor pond with sturgeon I saw on one of your videos you like sturgeon Rod at predatory fins has some that's a relatively small I'm sure you could work with the pond guy and have an awesome setup
Your arrowanas are wonderfull! We want live camera on them!

I never really cared much about uaru but this video has changed my perspective
Had one for over 10 years. I agree...they are one of the best fish ever.
Hey I’m a little late to the vid. Keep up the great work and content Joey love your vids and I learn a ton from them! 👍
