      I agree (old airwolf fan with zero actual knowledge of helicopters). This video prompted me to see what Bell are up to now. The 360Invictus is pretty impressive. Looks like some mad bastard bred Airwolf to Blue Thunder and is selling the babies. If Airwolf was a Ferrari, the 360 is a lambo.
      Also, presumably the helicopter in the video will had the Turbo boost (every 80's cool machine needs one) button and underslung rocket launchers used to kill one enemy of 'murican freedom every Friday night removed?

    Cool video for a great helicopter. Loved Airwolf as a kid.
    We had a local air ambulance based a couple miles from my house in the 80's, and at the time they flew a 222. One day it somehow took down one of our chimneys. My grandparents claimed they actually hit it, but working aviation as an adult I figured the rotorwash must have done it as the house was almost a century old.
    My grandfather got in touch with them since he saw the chopper go overhead and then bricks started falling in the yard next to him. When he talked to them they had a guy come out and take a look and since everything matched up they admitted responsibility. He basically wanted two things out of it, the chimney repaired, and to let me see the chopper (Again, I was a MASSIVE Airwolf fan).
    A few days later, seven year old me got to go play around the chopper. Spent several hours there with the crews and looking everything over. Being the 80's, and able to get away with it, they let me ride for an "engine test" where we took off, hovered about twenty feet, swayed back and forth a few times, and landed.
    Spent the next few months insufferable anytime she flew overhead.

    THANK YOU so much for picking up the Idea of doing needed Videos about the Queen of Helicopters, the Bell 222 Airwolf. So hard to imagine to have one, especially in the correct paint, unbelivable. I'm often wondering if someone, who can afford it, do some of the Airwolf Parts on it and do a WORLD TOUR with a 30min flight show. Thousands of people would freeze so hard seeing THAT Helicopter flying in front of them!... Airwolf is one of the most Popular Things that was ever designed, it is a megastar. The Show potential is astronomous. Love to see more Content, hope you find some pro enthusiast Video Creator to record your Videos. All the best for you

    Great video, thanks. Bell also produced a 222-UT, a fixed-skid model. I worked and flew in this model as a flight-paramedic for a hospital based EMS system in 1987. Wonderful aircraft. Lots of power and ample cabin space for treating patients. And, because of it's two-bladed main rotor, it had the infamous "wop-wop-wop" of it's venerable Huey cousin.

    Many of us Airwolf fans would be grateful for a video from the perspective of an actual aviation specialist such as yourself to give us a detailed analysis of the specific mods to the standard issue 222a, as well as how impractical a real-life Airwolf would be. (At least in terms of aeronautics: speed, maneuverability, ceiling, dis-engaging the rotors, etc.) What would it take for you to convert your 222a into a screen-accurate Airwolf?

    Great story, great memories! I never flew the retractable variant of the "triple deuce" but was able to fly the 222UT skid version for many hours. Most of the bugs associated with the Lycomings had been solved by my time, the UT had the dash 750s under the cowlings. Definitely a joy to fly, even at relatively high DA found in the SW Colorado mountains. Fully IFR capable, 4-axis autopilot, Wx radar all added to it's capability. Mixed emotions when we traded up to a shiny new Bell 429...I still miss making those blades slap!

    1:36 Max Take-Off Weight of 8,100 lbs.! That's a little over 4 Tons! Wow!🙀💋 Plus, you say it's based on the Bell 222a Model, though I seem to recall reading a book, in a Waldenbooks Bookstore back in the '80's, that, seemed to indicate, it would actually have been based on a Bell 222b Model, instead. Perhaps it was 'Jane's Guide to Combat Helis'? Even the Real U.S. Military use those particular books for reference guides. Amazing Video! Danke! [Thank You!]💯💋

    Such a beautiful aircraft even in its original configuration. The fact it is instantly recognizable is a testament to how wisely the production team for the show chose the base vehicle.

    Loved this walk around. By far my favorite helicopter and TV show. Funny how RC models and this real example have the colors all wrong Airwolf was never black and white. Airwolf was painted Phantom Gray Metallic" (DuPont Imron 5031X) on top, and a custom pearl-gray (almost white) on the bottom, in a countershaded pattern. I don’t know why anyone who paints one can’t figure that out correctly🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @ejscarfo19
      @ejscarfo19 Рік тому

      I agree. It’s weird that it annoys me when people say it’s black and white. It’s clearly not in show, at least to my eyes. I was able to get that gray mixed to spray can for a model and it’s actually a 1970 GM color when you run the color code. This 222A, while looking great in black, would be dynamite in the Phantom Gray.
