Wow!! This is beautiful,I can't believe I've been searching many vids to show me how to make a bowl.i can't wait to get started on mine🤞 thank you for sharing 🙂
@@SueFindlay Hiya Sue,I've almost created a vase type bowl in exactly the same way as you did, however I'm struggling to remove the cellophane wrap, the cast is still very pliable (12hours curing) should i leave it longer before trying to remove it. Thank you x
You make everything look so easy. I don't know which one I like better- the oval trinket dish or this one. They are both beautiful. I can't wait to give it a try. Thanks for sharing♡
You’re welcome 💕 this process is quite easy, the hard part is knowing when to move the curing resin. With a little bit of practice you will get to know your resin and it will become second nature to you. I wanted to show different ways you can do this to achieve different results, that way you can see other possibilities for your resin art.
Sue I watch your videos all the time. You do very amazing work I love it! I tried this one and it was a flop . I didn't make it big enough, and I see in the comments you use 300 MLS for both pieces so that will help. It looks like you use more than 3 colors magenta, purple and white and it looks like there's some gray in there. I'm just getting started out with acrylic pour painting and resin . I got my cellophane at the Dollar tree for a dollar and it worked beautifully and it just came right apart when it was dry. it was a little thin and I didn't think it was going to work so I went to hobby lobby and got a better cellophane roll Thank you for all the inspiration that you have given me,I love your videos you're very inspiring and very very talented thank you so much for sharing.
Ah yes, well spotted. I also used Metallic Silver from Artisue. I will update the description. I am delighted you find the videos to be informative and helpful. 💕
I love all your designs and methods. This one is so beautiful and looks complicated. But after watching the video, it easy enough to make. Thanks for sharing.
When I started researching working with resin, I came across your videos. You do beautiful work and you get all the info of each work of art in eacc video. I subscribed after the 1st video I watched. You deserve to make a huge amount of $'s. Thank you for inspiring me. I've just got back into art after years of not 'feeling' it and art is my happy place
Wow this looks so simple yet so elegant at the same time. I love it so much and cannot wait to give it a try! Thank you for sharing your talents, Sue!! ❤❤
Very pretty Sue* I made similar with my quik dry cement. I made 4 vases, they turned out nice. However, you double layered yours and I didn't do that, yours are so awesome!!!!!!!!! I might try double layering next time I do the cement vases! Kool idea! Thanks for posting!
Wow very organic. I just love your sculptures! Look into those cheap dollar store shower curtains. I find some for a dollar and they are shiny. Seems they would be a less expensive alternative to your good plastic bags.
Thanks for the tip. Not sure if the resin would stick to shower curtains. I always have these bags in stock because I sell prints of my animal art and these are great protection.
When I get back from the states and the house here is closer to completion, this is something I would LOVE to do. I wonder if we could make bowls, lamp shades and lightbulb covers with these beautifully shaped resin pieces? They remind me of the gorgeous, handblown glass shaped bowls from the 1980's when I was dying to have one. Now we could do it so easily with resin! Love the touch of glass crystals around the edges of the piece, fracturing the light as it passes through. Magical! Thank you Sue Findlay
You’re welcome, I have thought about creating lampshades. I wouldn’t create bowls as the resin is not designed for food contact. Especially if you use it for hot food. 😉
Ok. THAT is EPIC. Another gorgeous Sue Findley design. I want to move into your creative space and soak up some of your extra creativity. Your daughter is SO blessed! Quick question...wgen you place the layers on the vase why don't you place the second layer directly on the first? (Instead of keeping the plastic sheets between the layers.) If you have layer one then why can't you place layer two "face down" on top of layer one on the vase when they are still in the soft cure stage? Wouldn't that save work at the end?
Thank you, I keep the layers separate because I want to maintain the layered look, otherwise they will merge into one. When I glue them together, they are only really glued at the base and you can see how it is layered. Plus, I can still reposition the top layer if it needs it, whereas, if I just stick it on top, it has to stay where it lands. One other thing, glueing the two layers together gives it that added strength, especially if you end up with some thin spots in the creases from the bending and stretching 😉

Please help ….maybe I should let the resin to dry more hours? I live in a hot country maybe I should be patient … please tell me what you think
You need to wait until it is semi-cured, the right time will depend on your resin. The resin should be soft, but not sticky. You should also make sure you are using a coating resin and not a casting resin.
What kind of plastic could I use or could you tell me where I could get your plastic. Also how long do you cure it before putting on the vase? It was so cool.
I have used a number of different plastics and even used baking paper. I have heard that resin sticks to certain plastics, so I would test a small amount of resin on the plastic you have, let it cure and see if it can be removed. Remember, whatever you place it on, it will take on the properties of that item. What I mean by that is, if the item is shiny, your resin will come out shiny, if it is matte, it will come out matte. Something to bare in mind when choosing your plastic.

I just took the leap to try this. I've used resin with my wood project. But never like this. Love it. Trying to figure out how to share a pic of it with you. Thanks again for your awesome videos.
Hi Sue, I love to watch your videos. My problem is the amount of resin I need for some of your projects. I have either way too much or not enough. How can I calculate the amount needed. I would appreciate your help.
Depends on what you are doing. If I am creating a wall art, I use an online calculator to give me a rough estimate. For the bowls, it can depend on how large I want to make it. If I have mixed two much, I will make another with the leftovers. I don't waste any resin and use it to make small trinket dishes. 💕
Hello Sue Can you use resin on a Vinyl sheet, will the Resin come off when it's cured partially an d completely? Planning on trying a free form vase sometime soon! Can you reply as soon as you can? Thank You! Blessings!

@@SueFindlay Hi Sue I am talking about what I would put the resin on. I purchased a large Vinyl sheet to pour the resin on. Is that ok, or should I still test a small piece of Vinyl and pour a little resin and see if it comes off when cured?
