How to CONViNCE Your Parents to Let You Get a Pet!

- Have parents who are stubborn or strict as heck and won't let you get an animal? Well, here is my guide on how to convince your parents to let you get a pet. It's tried, tested, and yes, true. ;) These tips have worked for me, and trust me, getting animals is something my parents do NOT take lightly. It will take effort on your part, but this is the method that has always ended with a yes from my parents, given time. Best of luck to you and I hope you can get that furry, scaley, or feathered friend you've always wanted!

My first pet was goldfish, my dad said he is going to throw the aquarium out of room if I buy it ,but I bought them and decorated my aquarium so good that
he was like : we need to put it in living room cause the living room would look better....
Me: I bought that for me so, it(aquarium) stays with me in my room...
Dad: get yourself another
Then I got me more aquariums lol

Very good points here! Mommy doesn't always have time to care for you, herself, and pets. That's usually a parent's main concern is who's taking care of it.

I feel you. It takes patience and insane persistence. It might not even happen until you move out (me with my parents and snakes lol) If your parents are the forgiving type, maybe ask for forgiveness instead of permission? although generally I don't recommend that for obvious reasons haha.

Thankfully my parents encouraged me to get a pet so i could learn responsibility. Doesn't mean I got it right away though. :)

Hey. I'm so sad today. I am moving into a tiny house and cannot bring my two 4 year old RES with me (1 male and 1 female) Because I cannot haul 200gallons of water around with us. I need to find a home for them.
Than I am going to buy a couple of Baby Cherry Head Red Foot Tortoises. 1 male and 1 female.
Those I will be able to travel with. 😁

I LOVE birds and the pet store in my area has parrots and my dad only wants a hamster,he says they are way to messy (and I told him you can train them.) any way to convince him? 🙏

I need advice, I have BEGGED my parents for a cat for WEEKS and I'm not getting anywhere. I have proved I am responsible and I even made a 4 -5 paged documentary on why we should get a cat. What annoys me most is that my parents started saying "maybe" to me rather than just a straight up "no". a few weeks later and my mom says "no". I asked why not and she can't come up a with a reason. Now, my parents just straight up ignore me when the topic is brought up and it kinda hurts. If anyone has advice please reply, I'm getting desperate!

Great tips, I’m an adult and living on my own so I don’t have this problem😅 even when I was living with my mom, she was always cool with me having animals... I just got lucky with that.

You don't _have_ to, but definitely don't be using anything like gravel. I think sand is a great option :)

My dad will NOT let me get a cat because they are messy and smell but I told him that I can clean and make it smell good but still no so I am going to try all the things that u said 😅❤

just do your own research and slowly start letting them know that you want a pet. You'd be surprised how much persistence can help :)

I'm trying to get my dad to let me buy a horse. But I already have 12 reptiles.😂 And they eat every two weeks. And they aren't to expensive. I'm about to get my own job so I can pay for them myself. He still is set on no about the horse. But I'm still very greatful for all the other animals I already have. I'll update y'all if I ever get one😊

If it were up to my parents, we would have a dog, 2 cats and a tortiose. But we have a dog, 2 cats, a tortiose, 2 cockroaches and 2 rats.

It took me 1 year to convince my parents to get a reptile. I wanted a ball python, but my mom wouldn't allow it (she hates mice and couldn't handle having dead mice in her fridge lol) but my dad was fine with it. I decided to find a different reptile that will be more "reasonable", so I decided on a leopard gecko. I did a lot of research and randomly after a month of wanting a leopard gecko, my dad just said, "Want me to get you a tank for your gecko?" I was thrilled! If you are trying to convince your parents to get you a pet, please have patience. It will be worth it in the end. I am happy to say that I am getting a male leopard gecko next month after a lot of patience! :D (I am not a very patient person and it was hard, but you sometimes just have to go through it if you want to convince your parents to get a pet)

The Turtle Girl I watched the video and your were 11. I am the same because when I turned 11 I got a turtle for my bday. I thought it was going to be easy. But I was wrong, but it is all worth the time and money. I now love reptiles and would love to get another on day. But of course I will make sure I do my research. And I just recently found your channel and a channel called Go herping, love your turtles and congrats on 7k.

One reason that you missed is that sometime people live in a condominiums with rules.
oh I never even thought of that! then perhaps if you did live an apartment that limited space, you'd be best off looking into straight up fish and maybe wait for a better time to get a turtle :)
