  • A day fly fishing the Holy Waters of the Au Sable during the Hendrickson hatch, May 2016. Trout rising everywhere and clouds of bugs moving up the river. A special place, like no other.
    Music: Renegade by the Styx
    Rod: 8'9" 3wt
    Reel: Redington Zero 2/3

Looked like an unusually high Brookie to Brown ratio for that section. But, a trout is a trout! Even if it is a Char 😉. Thanks for sharing.

I would have loved it except for the loud music...I am from the 60's love great music but not on a beautiful ride on the river. I was so excited to see something about The Au Sable my fav place to be in the world but the loud music ruined it for me.

Heading up there to help my grandma move out of her place, where’s a good place to wade fish?

My great great grandfather owned the DNR access a long time ago on the Au Sable but then my great grandmother sold it to the DNR.

This looks like the South branch of the Ausable in Mich.

This is the mainstream in Michigan, just east of Grayling

Once I muted the music it was a thing of beauty. I once caught a grayling out of there.

Yeah. I don't associate 70's cock rock with fly fishing.

Wow. Since they've been extinct from there for over 100 years. That's a pretty amazing catch. 😅
