Ethan Cramer
Приєднався 4 лис 2014
My name is Ethan Cramer, and I suffer from the incurable disease of fly fishing addiction. My father taught me to fly fish on Michigan’s Huron River when I was 11 years old, and ever since, I have been unable to keep a fly rod out of my hand for an extended period. As the years passed and my addiction grew stronger, my focus turned from panfish and bass, to trout. I caught my first trout on a black ant fly, in Shalda Creek, in Leelanau County Michigan. In my opinion, trout are the single most rewarding species to pursue on the fly. Catching a trout is one of the most exciting experiences in the angling world, as it requires focus, planning, and often a bit of luck.I have stalked trout on everything from the “Holy Waters” of the Au Sable, to tiny, unnamed Southern Michigan spring creeks. If trout are to be found, you can be certain I will make every effort to bring them to hand.

i hear that they stock brook trout in mill creek also! :)
Brown trout are stocked by the DNR in Mill Creek
@@ethancramer5837 so its only browns??
Heading up there to help my grandma move out of her place, where’s a good place to wade fish?
I would have loved it except for the loud music...I am from the 60's love great music but not on a beautiful ride on the river. I was so excited to see something about The Au Sable my fav place to be in the world but the loud music ruined it for me.
Wet your hands. Pure Michigan for sure. Ugh
Yep, good tip, always have and always will!
Looked like an unusually high Brookie to Brown ratio for that section. But, a trout is a trout! Even if it is a Char 😉. Thanks for sharing.
Love the video!
its a good spot just made a video on it!
When you are next uploading? I liked watching your videos.
That is one of my favorite after works spots.
Is this in Hernando?
That last fish was a really nice sized trout for that small creek. I love it there! I did some photography of that covered bridge. Great video Ethan!
Thank you, its a great stream that holds some real surprises!
Would you be willing to recommend any streams in southern MI that would be good for a beginner to try catching trout on the fly? This stream looks like it’s got enough open areas to practice without getting snagged on trees constantly, and shallow enough water to wade easily (I’m only 5’4, so sometimes it can be a challenge). If not that’s ok too, I just figured it never hurts to ask :0)
Thank you for this video! I’ve been trying on this stream for a while with no luck but this just motivates me even more!
I loved the music and video my wife and I are looking to fish the Au sable next year we are excited
Its a great river, no place like it! If you want any info before your trip feel free to contact me on facebook @ TroutNations
Hey looking to fish the cold water river but don't fly fish just real any good spots I'm from Muskoka and wanna try for Salmon
nice.....
By chance, did you lose your net in paint creek? I found the exact same one hooked up on a branch in paint creek!
Just went out there for the first time today all I could find was a bunch a creek chub. Never caught a trout before. Thought it would be a good spot to try. Have any tips
Cool. Too bad Kalamazoo is so far away. Caught a nice rainbow on the Clinton River near Paint Creek a few weeks ago.
Once I muted the music it was a thing of beauty. I once caught a grayling out of there.
Yeah. I don't associate 70's cock rock with fly fishing.
Wow. Since they've been extinct from there for over 100 years. That's a pretty amazing catch. 😅
That stream closed in september
Open all year, not designated trout waters and no special regulations!
Nice clip, bamboo rod ?

Any tips for fishing Mill Creek in the winter? How are the trout numbers looking? Still looking for my first on the creek
Epic video man! I wish I could cast like you, just started my fly fishing journey!
Love them colorful brookies! They’ve got such big mouths don’t they?Good job 👍. I didn’t know them darn goby’s made it to the holy waters 😢
Yes it's surprising indeed! They look great any time of year!
Nicely done Ethan 👌any trout is a beautiful catch am I right? Looked like a reel fun day🤙
They sure are, they were sure hungry that day, one of my best ever, triple digits!
Great job Ethan and beautiful brown!! Top notch
Thank you, it was a surprise!
Fished the Paint in the late 70"s - caught numerous 12" Browns. My best was 16" just below Lake Oiran
Wow Ethan great work again guys🤙👏wish this side of the state was able to participate in some kinda count system. Just how does that all work? We’ve got a Great little Buck creek and we have great success but wondering how to do that?
Looks like a good stream. You get big browns up to 22” in there?
Yes, it is indeed, and yes very nice brows in here
Viewers: ALWSYS wet the hands BEFORE handling trout especially fragile teeny char.
Great video and great music!
I know exactly what section of the rouge that is, nice fish.
Alberto Erto where about is the bridge, I know where 12 mile and summit is...
Nice fish...just around the corner from my house. :)
I am new to fly fishing and all summer I have been trying to catch one trout out in paint creek and I have not hit one any suggestions you could help with on where to fish there or what flies to use lol
Trout can be found through the entire public section from Lake Orion to Rochester Hills. Have you tried indicator nymphing? This method has been the most successful for me. Try a hares ear or copper john in a size 12-14.
nice trout! what stream is that?
SW Michigan, Grand River basin
Im new to fishing this river for trout where would you suggest to go and what fly patters to use?
This looks like the South branch of the Ausable in Mich.
This is the mainstream in Michigan, just east of Grayling
I'm heading there today hope we have your luck
My great great grandfather owned the DNR access a long time ago on the Au Sable but then my great grandmother sold it to the DNR.
Is 12th street safe for wading?
A bit on the high side but coming down quickly, waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=04118500
what do you think they would bite on in late june/ early july?
You will see a lot of caddis this time of year
ok thank you.
What were they biting on?
Henricksons
Going to try and head there this weekend...
