@@geo-305 Here's how I would rank the basic trainings 1. Marine Corps 2. Coast Guard 3. Army 4. Navy 5. I plan on going to either the Naval Academy or Coast Guard Academy.
Last Strike Mapping navy is 3 because of the fact you dealing with water and land training no stop but you mostly deal with water since that’s where you’ll be a lot and you can easily past out in the training in your body isn’t trained right or in the right conditions
My brother Lamar was there also. He was one of 2 African Americans in CG class. He had a degree in air traffic control when he enlisted he stayed 5 yrs
went through Cape May in 1963 at that time boot camp was 13 weeks long and let me tell you something the training has not changed all that much it was tough and it still is tough to this day. Semper Paratus shipmates.
I went to Coast Guard boot camp at Alameda, in the late 1970's. I was placed in X-Ray company (bad boy) for a week prior to graduation, so I was held back an extra week. Whatever you see here in this video is a cake-walk compared to I went through during hell-week in X-Ray (Alameda).
X Company was one company no one wanted to be in. My company, Echo-60 had a good CC so we avoided most of the BS stuff, not all but far less than other folks.
XRay Disciplinary Company made EVERYBODY fearful, you DID NOT want to screw up and get sent there. The CC in charge of it when I was there (early '80s) was psychotic.
😂 Wassup Sexy, awww so cute. My husband called my from basic training in tears asking me to pick him up. I told him in the most loving and supportive way, absolutely not. I reassured him that he could do it and he did. He still says till this day that he’s thankful that I didn’t jump on the highway to come and get him. I had to fight against my instinct to pick him up because he was having a tough time.
@@ShadaeBalancesKnightAstro I am so glad you made the right call, Basic is no joke and sometimes you need others to pick you up. I was there in his place, I hated it and my parents kept sending letters to encourage me to push through
The swimming part of this test is nothing. I’ve been thinking about joining the coastguard. And apparently the swimming portion is just treading water for 5 minutes and swimming a 100 meter. That has to be a joke.
I mean Coast Guard people aren’t SEALs dude. They can’t expect to spend hours in the water, and it’s actually a major issue if any of them go overboard for even a second.
@ryan24287 Believe it or not like 5% of the US Population actually qualify for CG basic with the fitness standards they have now. And even less make it through. Eveyr graduating company is really small, Like under 100 people
The rifles have certain components removed but still have same weight. and yes those rifles will never get fired, they are for drill training at boot camp, duh.
I served in the USCG Reserves for 4 years....I went to Cape May for a 2 week gentleman's course....I had smoked marijuana 8 1/2 days before 11:30 PM arrival there...Mr. Idiot here did not foresee a piss test....got upstairs in briefing room and walked pass 2 dozen small plastic bottles with red screw on tops....I pissed and was so upset/fucked up did not sleep for 2 days.......I was a walking zombie.....on the third day was I not called out and was able to sleep that night.....Holy Shit.......No tap on the shoulder ever came.....I am very lucky dude for sure.....was able to go into USAF Reserves and retire with 20 years in 2017....
I think I might join the coast guard when I grow up. I have been taking swimming lessons for a while. For example, they tread water for 5 minutes, and I once treaded water for 4 minutes when I was 8 years old.
I know it doesnt mean much from a stranger online, but I am really proud of you and It's inspiring to hear that there are people out there willing to put in the hardwork and have the determination to protect the ones who need it the most.
100 meter swim and a 5 minute tread...? In my swiftwater rescue class we had to do a 200 meter swim then a 10 minute tread followed by a donned pfd 200 meter swim and a victim retrieval, then we had to swim and do drills in the rapids for 10 hours for the certification... And that was for a non state certification, for volunteer fire/ ems swiftwater rescue. If this is the make or break for coasties then this is nothing.
The mental stress of it is harder than the physical. CG basic is said to be the second only to the marines and that's only bc the Marines is more physical but not as mentally challenging. I went through CG basic in Cape May in 2010. Good.experience but wouldn't want to do it again.
@@paint4r from what I've heard crucible week is more strenuous physically not necessarily emotionally/mentally. From day one to graduation the mental/emotional level of stress you go through in the CG imo is harder. Plus, throughout the course of the 8 weeks the CG tests you 3x on required knowledge in order to pass basic. That's additional to the swim test and PFT's.
Doctor Luzbubs It helps keep your body swim strait. If their head was only on one side, your swim direction will start drifty off to the left or right depending on which side your head is on.
Being an ast is not just knowing how to swim… do your research it’s one of the most physically demanding jobs in the military. And most of their cases aren’t even rescuing people from water they rescue people off cliffs, search for missing people, respond to people with medical emergencies on boats. And plus they have to take care of all the equipment for their team on the heli. They have to be certified EMT as well.
Coast Gaurd and Marine Boot camp absolutely the hardest.
What about the others??

I took Coast Guard Boot camp at Government Island 1980, Some changed some still the same. Brought back a lot of memory's.

Well, it's different for rescue swimmers, that's for sure. The idea is to stay on the boat when it comes to the maritime world.
3:19 look at all of those rifles that will never be shot again.
Not a username the coast guard does live fire exercises so that's not necessarily true.

Make sure you ask your recruiter for a helmsmen and memorize that "required knowlage"
I can pass the holding my tray and getting yelled at part!
Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Nice!
im entering boot camp during this summer, im pretty physically fit as of now, still getting there each and everyday, should i be worried?
Study your general knowledge
4months later you make it?
@3:40 last guy in the back right has his gun the wrong way, LOL!

the reason basics is so easy is cause they need to make sure you dont sink like a rock when you enter the water
They arent all rescue swimmers genius
I could pass the firefighting classes
ok?
Same
I can pass the swim qualification.. I'm a lifeguard with 43 rescues..
José Angel Esparza that’s cute
Ryan Bollinger I'm sure he could pass the swim qualification, it's the rest that would be a problem...

Why do they swing their heads like that when swimming? idk doesn't look right
Doctor Luzbubs It helps keep your body swim strait. If their head was only on one side, your swim direction will start drifty off to the left or right depending on which side your head is on.
Because they are not good swimmers
No goggles, that’s nasty to open your eyes in that water with all these people
Just watched a buds doc before watching this...lol
With so many knowing how to swim how is AST not full and won’t be accepting people because of so many desiring rescue swimmers

Isn't it Basic Military Training for CG, not Bootcamp?
No, BMT is the Air Force.
BMT is only for the Air Force IIRC
“Boot camp” as far as I know it is slang for any military basic training.

TREAD WATER FOR 5 MIN IN A POOL? LOL WHAT ARE THEY TRANING TO BE LIFEGUARDS? LOLL
I mean- coast guard does save life’s in water..... like a boat that’s going down and people are drowning ..
Lifeguards swim more.
Yes they do train to be lifeguards.
Ex coastie here, my advise is, join the USAF!
Totally depends on what you want to do….
You can’t even choose your career in the USAF. You pick several job interests and they decide for you LOL
"bootcamp hell" and Coast Guard should never be in the same sentence.
gnipacave you do realize they have the second hardest bootcamp right?
I wann join the Coast Guard!
