I thought they said the first dress was 5k? I mean, it doesn't take into consideration alterations and accessories, but I never know for sure if the dress budget that ladies go in with includes those as well. Mine did. But she said 5k, and they gave her 5k

I was going the say the same-- way classier than the Pnina. She was worried about a ballgown swallowing her frame, but I think the mermaid gown made her look shorter while the ballgown elongated her appearance.

This appointment, like all of the rest, are edited. Appointments run for hours for this show, and they cannot show the entire appointment. We don't know what else they showed her or if she tried any others on.
She loved the first dress a lot, and then she loved the second one a lot. It appeared that, in her mind, these 2 were the top contenders. Therefore, the drama was in her decision, not "oh, look at this other dress too." As a reality show, they found the drama and decided to show it.

That was the right choice. The fishtail one didn't make her look like a bride, it wasn't special enough. She looks gorgeous and elegant in the dress she chose

She looks so beautiful in her gown, very bridal. I see fishtail as more of an evening gown. I don't care as much for the craze in the USA for Panina, too much being looks overdone. These are more beautiful. She chose well.

I'm not a big fan of fishtails, but I've seen some that looked really, really nice. That being said, given that the fishtail one was from Pnina Tornai, of course it looked cheap :'D

Exactly right! The bride didn't feel emotional or cry. That's concerning to me, but her dramatic style would have been a ballgown.
I don't know why Gok can offer more fabulous dresses for less than 5k compared to this shop.

I always wonder why in these situations they don't try to find a third dress that combines loved elements of both dresses. People with experience: does that just muddy the waters?

I feel like she was pressured into this decision and she may regret it later. David always seems to pressure people, and once again he put her in an over budget fishtail dress too! And why only two dresses? With a budget like that she could have seen much more. Should’ve gone to Gok, he would’ve been much better!

I think we only see part of the appointment; she may have tried on more dresses that we didn't get a chance to see and she may have been told of the price of that fishtail too. We don't know.
This video is only 9 minutes 44 seconds long. In the actual show there is a lot more time and they show more dresses than in the short versions they have on UA-cam.

@Chel Aiz I too love Gok. But notice the different designers from each shop. Lancashire has more Essence of Australia and other brands that are less expensive. And all of Lancashire episodes are relatively new, as these can be much older. The styles of dresses here can look rather dated because they are.
People keep harping on "Gok" and "his" selections, but he is only a "fashion consultant," NOT THE OWNER OF THAT STORE!!! He doesn't make the decisions as to what is in stock!
This show' s stylist is only just the designer of Lady Di's wedding gown....so really, that's what people are going to David for!
With a huge budget of 5000, she deserved to try on more than 2 dresses, and take as much time as necessary to decide!

They should have, absolutly. I mean, her budget was 5000 and she was shown only 2 dresses, come on! However, I don't think the main goal was to satisfy her sister and her friend (they will have the chance to be satisfied during picking their own wedding gowns😅), but herself 😀, as she's the main focus there.

😂😂😂 Agreed on David’s look 😂 On the number of dresses, I always get frustrated thinking “why aren’t they showing her more dresses?” But I’ve started-eventually-remembering comments from other ‘Yes To The Dress” videos enlightening us that these are really just clips from the longer full episodes, so it is almost certain that the bride tried more dresses during the full episode (especially with this size budget). Hope that eases your frustration like it has mine. 🌺 Now I need to go stream that episode, if I can find it, because I still have this little pocket of frustration that just won’t go away……..

Appointments are usually around 2 hours so they won’t show all the dresses she looked at, they showed the 2 that she really liked. The dress she chose makes her looks more like a bride, the fishtail looks more like it’s for a fancy ball.

Well, the dress she chose was the less expensive one.
The beading on the first dress looks cheap. But it is a nice dress in terms of fabric and shape. That Pnina dress they keep bringing out is like a costume for a cabaret.

In this store just say your budget is 2k regardless of how high you can actually pay. Because you will end up in a 6k dress anyway...
That is SO not the case. There are lots of occasions when they put people in much cheaper dresses than their budgets can afford, yet people still criticize them.
Can you just be happy that she found a dress that she loves at her budget? Must you also criticize the shop for showing her a dress, that she loves, within her budget?
@@catladyfromky4142 I know that we do not get to see what happens behind the scenes and I can see that they don't have too many dress options compared to Atlanta for example. So yes, sometimes they might need to go over budget to find the right dress. However, that is obviously not the case in this specific shop. Because we can all see that almost in every episode they are putting the brides in waaaay over the budget dresses without even telling them the actual cost of the dress, watch them fall in love with it and then watch them get frustrated or force them into buying it. When we have the example of Gok especially, it is easy to see that it is usually happening not with the best intentions, in my very own opinion. And ofcourse I am more than happy to see her finding the right dress. I don't understand what made you think that I am not. But I respect your opinion :)
@@selingencalp2303 This is what I am trying to explain. They DO NOT put brides in dresses over their budgets all the time. Just read the comments when the budgets are large and they come out with one's way under the budgets. Or when they are at their budgets, save for a couple of hundred here or there. The meme seems to be to complain whatever happens. Like in this case, the dress was exactly AT the budget. Yet there are lots of complaints about the shop and the budgets. Why? Because it is with the meme. That is all. You seem to have it in your heads, and only see what you want to see after every video. That gets real old.
The facts are thus: 1. the shop is in London, which is more expensive than the Ireland shop or the Lancaster shop. 2. the shop is in a mall and does not have the space to stock thousands of dresses of all kinds
3. brides often come there with budgets of £1500 pounds or a little more and expect to see lots of choices for their dream wedding. Sometimes they ask for bling, detail "that stands out" , etc.
4. brides still choose this store, knowing all of the above.
The biggest reason why a dress gets pulled is because it is a style the bride wants to try out. If they just go by price alone, they would be there all day and get the bride confused. Often the best thing to do is get as close to the budget as possible with the style, and go from there. With their limited inventory, not doing so would not result in a show that anyone would watch.

We’re these the only 5k dresses in the store? I’ve seen many better looking 2k dresses in previous shows.
Maybe they showed her some of those but she didn't like them. Remember that this show is edited from a multi-hour appointment to about 10 minutes.

“Darling Nikki”, (proof everyone 💜 Prince, even David Emmanuel) OF COURSE they picked that foofy dress for you to try. You said you wanted a boob tube dress with a fishtail, and they knew you had a 5k budget. They give you what you think you don’t want … and at the tiptop of your budget, and bingo you fall in love with it. Yes, it looked great. But the cash grab aspect of this shop in particular grosses me out. Imagine how it would have went down if she went to Gok’s shop.
This shop has very few high budget dresses. They try to shove that same Pnina dress on every bride with big budget.

Being an Indian, I find this so weird, like bro, try on more dresses why just two, we have like three dresses for every ceremony and like tons of ceremonies....
I’m not Indian (very far from it) and I really find your weddings to be one of the most beautiful, impressive, extraordinary events in any culture. It has so many amazing traditions and I wish that I could have something even half as good as an Indian wedding. It really looks like the most incredible event for the bride and groom and all the guests.

Why does SYTTD UK insist on not listening to the brides budget. They ALWAYS seem to go over! I'm convinced David only cares about money rather than his Brides. I am not a big fan of his tbh. Yeah he made Princess Di's dress but I think that's gone to his head and its all about how much money he can squeeze out of the brides and their family's.
My favorite is SYTTD Lancashire. Gok knows what he is talking about is listens to the brides and helps them with any fears and concerns they have over body image and family issues. He's my bridal angel!!!

That being said, from the comment section, it appears people derive pleasure in finding faults in David. And the comparison with Gok? Sheesh!!! They are 2 separate individuals with different personalities. This is a whole different level of bullying, let David be people. If you see it's his show and you may be upset with him, don't watch it. That particular fishtail dress was not right for her. And, I love that she chose the unexpected. But, she's so beautiful, it would have been fun to see her try on a couple of more gowns.
When a bride is trying on dresses, they should take pictures of her, Front, side, back. If she is having trouble deciding between 2 dresses, show her the pictures side by side so she can compare.

You should never pick a dress according to what the guests may think. Why do you want to shock or wow them? Why do you care about their opinion? Why do you need their approval?
