Any issues? I had 3 servo's die, 2 upgraded Traxx ones and the stock I put in while waiting for a replacement 2085X. Upgraded the bearings on all 4 hubs to the beefier ones, chipped a fan blade or 2 on the motor cooler but that's about it.
I was thinking about buying some cheaper monster trucks. I think I'll save up and get the ultimate beast xmaxx. Can't go wrong it's beyond cool. Thanks for the video
My X-Maxx really made me work for its durability. When I first got it I ran it for 15 minutes in training mode on level ground in a circle. The steering servo went out. Traxxas replaced the plastic gears with me needed to tear the servo down. I decided to purchase the metal servo and sell the cheap plastic one. Went ahead with RPM rear hubs due to weak inner bearings letting loose after my 4th run. Then the only other major issue was the Pinion kept coming loose. Ended up having to drill a divot hole in the motor shaft and use red loctite. Finally got that done. Had to replace all 3 differentials, all 4 axle hub carriers and both bumper brackets, cush drive and about 4 spur gears and pinions. About 4 sets of tires also. Had it less than a year. So far it has been behaving after all of this.
Hard luck, brother. However, I'm glad to see you're not letting that slow you down. One thing I've learned about this hobby, you have to love working on the cars, or it is not for you. All I can say is, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, until the thing is what you want it to be. If you want speed, it will cost. If you want durability, that too will have expenditures. In my opinion, it's worth the effort. Never give up. Welcome to the channel.
4 sets of tires in a year! That's the only thing from keeping me from buying one and the body price...and its $1475 with tax in Canada. 😬 But still thinking about it.
This is the third video of your channel I have watched and I love them! I’m about to take ownership of a brand new X-MAXX so I’ve been doing my homework. I absolutely love your videos and I’ve subbed to your channel! I’ve been flying giant scale rc planes but I love my monster trucks too. I had a Losi 5T but that was a money pit so I sold it. Can’t wait to get my X-MAXX! Keep up the excellent content! Love that area in the woods in the snow! Epic place to run those rigs! Cheers from Australia.
@@AJJAMStudios thanks mate. I’m sure I will thoroughly enjoy my X-MAXX. I’ve already bought some upgrades like the RPM oversized rear hub carriers with the bigger bearings and hinge pins. Next will be the drive cup sleeves and maybe the Traxxas metal gear servo.
I like watching how carefully you remove the trucks from their boxes as if there was a bottle of nitroglycerin in there somewhere and then take them outside and basher them to the point of extinction. I believe this is referred to as a paradox.
That is an epic launch ramp good idea putting markers on it Something people always forget the ground is way harder in winter, That’s why things break- it doesn’t matter how tough they make the plastic. In winter if you don’t wanna break stuff, Stay on smooth terrain, run the softest suspension possible Try not to crash. It’s funny because everyone gets stuff at Christmas time and then get all mad when it breaks in January or February. Dirt in February is the worst possible thing for an RC, frozen rough ass ground. Jagged Pieces of soil that can tear any RC apart. Try the same type of driving in spring -summer- fall, and see how long it all lasts!! Batteries will last a lot longer when it’s warm out, about twice as long. The other thing is that if you discharge rate is too low you’ll hit Lvc, XM amp draw is extreme. If you insist on running in winter like I do, run the best batteries you can possibly get. 100c minimum. Big Mah. Or run a lighter truck, My old two wheel drives are great this time of year. I live at 8000 feet - most of my running is around 35° if I were to average it year round. Fwiw... Ps happy bday!!!
I've built quite a few ramps in the past, and this one is my favorite design. If you've seen my other videos, you'll notice that I make them stackable. Suddenly a 45 degree ramp can switch to an 84 degree ramp in less than a minute. Carrying two ramps, one steep and one shallow, allows for more flexibility. I'm glad you like the street design I put on it, and yes, it does help find center; if the car cooperates, that is. AJ

Ya the stock wheels are the best for bashing and jumping the belted wheels are heavier they make the car feel more planted but also reduces your speed because of the added weight 👍👍👍
When I got mine, I was, at first, a little disappointed with the speed, but then I realized I was running in snow. When it hit the solid ground, everything changed for me. Awesome car. You'll love it. I did change the hub carriers to aluminum to add strength. However, it was cold out that day, so the stock ones may hold up better at warmer temps.
I got my X Maxx a couple of weeks ago (green one) and so far I haven't found the need to change anything on it. I did install some FullForce Shock Boots because the shocks are so big everything hits them. The wheel bearings are a week point on this truck so I will soon upgrade to the larger ones but out of the box this truck is a Beast and has become my favorite by far in my collection
Agreed, it's an awesome truck. And, as I said in the video, it is really cold here right now, so that may play a part in my breaking the hub carriers and bumper supports. However, now that I have upgraded to the aluminum hub carriers I have broken nothing since. Thanks for your comment, and welcome to the channel. AJ
May i ask 1 year later what issues you had? i did a fair bit of research before deciding on the xmaxx so pre purchased to servo upgrade . later RPM rear hubs with bigger bearings..later same front end (I saw some problems with the front ones on one channel but it's ok for me so far (nothing crazy anyway) there is a Traxx part for bigger bearings that fixes this. Overall ok. motor fan blades broke so vibrating. But 3!!!! servos now isn't funny. 3 have died in less that 1 year of light use.

Just an idea I do I yous the Scandinavian flick with this truck on Loose surfaces and wet grass and it does actually work pretty well too 👍👍👍 oh wet tarmac is good fun two 🤘🤘🤘
The lower arms are left and right arms, the upper arms are not. The RPM rear hub carriers are definitely a great up grade! Make sure you oil the bearing they come with!
AJ, what are your thoughts on adding a Hobbywing Max 5 ESC that might be better equipped to handle more powerful batteries? Ex) 100C plus. I'm torn because it's over 100 grams heavier. I'm curious to hear your opinion!
Although I haven't tried to fit one into my Xmaxx, I've seen others do it and it isn't as easy as one might think. The Max 6 however, fits right in as a direct replacement. I've used one of those and it worked just fine for that application. As far as the Max 5 goes, I'm not sure you need that kind of controller. I'm running 100c rated batteries on the stock speed control and haven't had an issue yet. Even the Max 6 keeps up. If you try one of the Max 5 controllers, let me know if you notice a difference and what you think of the mod. Thanks. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios Thanks AJ! That's very helpful. Especially your tip on the sizing of the Max 5 vs 6. If I try either I will let you know how it goes. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Have a great evening.
Good video. I see you have a Felony behind you. I just recently bought a Maxx which i am digging so far, when/if i get a stimulus check i plan on getting a 2nd car, either an XMaxx or the Felony. If you could only own one of those cars, which one would you choose?
Thanks for the comment. I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. You already have a Maxx which is a smaller version of the Xmaxx. However, if you wish to run on asphalt and go super fast there’s only one choice here. So at the end of the day the selection has to be yours. I personally love both cars. Each one has its charms. While the Xmaxx is brutal in its design and a blast to play with, the felony is faster and also brutal to play with. That said, both cars are really cool to watch run. But...if I were faced with having to choose -and I didn’t already have a Maxx- I would choose the Xmaxx. It’s just more versatile. Best of luck. AJ 😎👍
Hey I'm planning to get 1 for my birthday .. my name is AJ . do they have an official website that when I get mine I can purchase the extra spare parts. Also does it come with optional upgraded parts for the Price of the XMaxx?
I love the X max I have one But he came with some weak points I had the same issue the first day that I ran it, The second time that The servo went out 😡 my local Hobby Store had a metal Traxxas servo I put it in now damn ESC went out, but it awesome rc
What kind of a run time can you expect out of it? I have enough for the truck, batteries, charger but not for a extra set of batteries at the moment. I would go with the traxxas 6700mah 4s battery.
You have to be careful with your battery selection if you're going to use the stock battery retainers. If you get batteries that are too large, they may not fit into the truck. You can upgrade to the Velcro straps to get larger batteries in it, which is something I have not done yet, I simply run the 5000mah batteries. They run for quite a while, and they are easy to maintain, but I've never really slipped a set in and timed them. I would get 60c or bigger though to add that snap. I hope this helps. AJ
AJJAMStudios thanks for the quick reply! I’ve been searching the net and can only find them with EC5 male having the right traxxas end. Need Female obviously to run the EC5 batteries. Maybe I’m just looking at it wrong. Time to hit the hobby shop 😜
Truck is near & dear to my heart ! Awesome birthday present 🎁 . I haven't broke anything yet 🤞💯 very nice collection 🔥🔥 I was curious ,Due you have a part # for the body protector that goes on the roof ? I don't mind drilling hoes if it keeps the body from road rash lol nice run 👌awesome salute
I'm pretty sure that is part of their business model. The major car manufactures do the same thing. However, when you buy upgrades from another source, Traxxas gets nothing. Curious, no?
u should just go all Traxxas for this truck... just get the plug and press a button charging system for the Traxxas batteries and get two 4s lipo batteries.. I have the OG 6s running two 3s 8000mah lipos and with some tuning on the application to the truck I have the acceleration set perfect has plenty of pull for a long 6s model, will most definitely wheelie all the way down the road as long as you don't run out of room first.. but have fun with that!! def stay away from those aluminum skid plates I made the mistake of getting some nice blue ones and they got torn up on the rocks and now are just sharp and love to hide dirt... but hey you wouldn't happen to have two spare bolts to hold the front lower portion of the bumper in place, would you?? I would be willing to compensate you of course if you could spare the hardware, I could even get a closeup pic so you know exactly what I'm talking about I just cannot source one from Traxxas or any website at all right now for the life of me... please let me know if you would be able to help me out or if the waiting list is the best I'm gonna get here... I just need to stop that front bumper from lifting up that is where the hardware is missing from.. please help a fellow xmaxxer out... hope it is all you wanted it to be and more!! I bet that 8s with the fans to cool it and the right battery setup with some tuning with the included application you can really get some awesome performance from that baby!!! definitely start thinking of hucking it and you will most certainly land a double backflip with ease!!! talk to ya soon hope you can help me source those dang bolts!! thanks a ton, god speed, -peter
After checking, no, I don't have those parts yet. Sorry. However, did you check EBay for a bolt kit for the car? That may have the ones you need. Good luck. Keep bashing.
I've been noticing that now I break swing arm pins instead of breaking the carriers. It's a trade off, I guess. However, I find it much easier to install a new pin rather than changing the broken carrier. Keep in mind, this is only my opinion. I'm not sure what it is you are breaking, but this is from my experience. What parts are you breaking now?
@@AJJAMStudios I do some pretty insane jumps. 20ft+ jumps into concrete sometimes, so I need the lightest Xmaxx possible. The stock parts give me that option. I only changed the rear hubs to RPM ones and use the RPM hinge pins. When I installed the Vivaton front hubs and c hubs, I would break the lower control arm, upper control arm or the steering link even on small jumps when landing bad. The last time I broke all three of those components in one small jump. ONE. So yeah. I do have giant motors and ESCS on two of my X-Maxx trucks, so they are heavier than stock but last way longer than with those aluminum hubs (at least in the front). Check out my last video and see for yourself how much abuse the Xmaxx can take. I'll link it. Yeah never again.
Great video man, I have same one for about a year now. I love it, but I'm disappointed, after 7 months my motor took a dump and traxxas wont help me. So I haven't ran mine for 3 months now. Need new motor, help anyone, haha.. times are super tight.
I hate to beat a dead horse here but I think it a little crazy to keep noting how inexpensive replacement parts for an r/c car, with batteries and a charger, has already set you back almost $1,500.00. Again, another paradox. I appreciate your knowledge base on maintaining repairing r/c cars but your audience certainly recognizes that if you try hard enough you can break just about anything.
There are rc’s out there that the parts are super expensive. It’s good to know repairing a rig won’t break your wallet, no matter the initial cost of the hardware. Thanks for commenting 😎👍
Definitely should be able to run in a regular form without needing upgrades. I think manufacturers should spend a bit more for durability before bringing out a new product. I know they count on parts sales to keep them going but I also know they have the ability to do better than this. Thanks for commenting 😎👍

AJ 😎👍
XMaxx: “I have the best wife ever!”
Maxx: “I have a good wife!”
Funny. LOL. AJ
Hey I'm planning to get 1 for my birthday .. my name is AJ . do they have an official website that when I get mine I can purchase the extra spare parts. Also does it come with optional upgraded parts for the Price of the XMaxx?
Traxxas.com. That is the corporate web site. From there you should be able to do it all.
I wish you could put a link to the upgraded parts in your video
We are starting to do that more and more. Thanks for the advise. 😎👍
I love the X max I have one But he came with some weak points I had the same issue the first day that I ran it, The second time that The servo went out 😡 my local Hobby Store had a metal Traxxas servo I put it in now damn ESC went out, but it awesome rc
It is definitely worth upgrading. Awesome car. Thanks.
Круто!👍
AJ
Do you have the new one? I just got my 2nd one all the up grades
No. We already upgraded both of our Xmaxxes, so don't see the need to get one. Thanks for asking. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios 👌👍
What connectors do you use or did you make your own? Looking to run EC5
I made my own, but your local hobby store should be able to come up with some. It's a pretty common adapter. AJ
AJJAMStudios thanks for the quick reply! I’ve been searching the net and can only find them with EC5 male having the right traxxas end. Need Female obviously to run the EC5 batteries. Maybe I’m just looking at it wrong. Time to hit the hobby shop 😜
Do they make the xmaxx in nitro powered ?
Not that I can find. However, there are conversions out there. I just don’t know how that would work. 😎👍
@@AJJAMStudios ok thanks 👍
7 mile? I wanna take my new e revo and summit and soon to come xmaxx out there used to go there every weekend im in cda if its 7 mile
Thanks for the interest, however, I prefer not to disclose my bashing location, wherever that may be. Thanks.
Funny you say a bout breaking things I think I did something two my Xmaxx I believe its the center diff I think 🤣🤣🤣
Truck is near & dear to my heart ! Awesome birthday present 🎁 . I haven't broke anything yet 🤞💯 very nice collection 🔥🔥 I was curious ,Due you have a part # for the body protector that goes on the roof ? I don't mind drilling hoes if it keeps the body from road rash lol nice run 👌awesome salute
where do you buy this from? website?
My local hobby store. 😎👍
Those 4ft wide shelves behind you?
Yes, they are. 😎👍
@@AJJAMStudios thought so, I have one set. They are good shelves, I plan on getting more.
Ahh dude y did you bring the biggest pos for me lol
Because it's fun and I enjoy it. LOL. Thanks for watching. AJ
WD-40 the plastic to make it more flexible before taking it out in the cold
With love, from Canada.
True. WD40 does work. I usually run my new cars as they come in the box so people can see what they get when they get one. 😎👍
Traxxas is making a killing off so called upgrade parts that should come stock, especially if they know it’s weak.
I bet that 8s with the fans to cool it and the right battery setup with some tuning with the included application you can really get some awesome performance from that baby!!! definitely start thinking of hucking it and you will most certainly land a double backflip with ease!!!
talk to ya soon hope you can help me source those dang bolts!! thanks a ton, god speed,
-peter
Thanks for the info. I’ll have to look to see if I have spares. As I said in the video, I just got it and have few parts for it. 😎👍
After checking, no, I don't have those parts yet. Sorry. However, did you check EBay for a bolt kit for the car? That may have the ones you need. Good luck. Keep bashing.
Hey man, nice video! Any issues with the stock servo or tire foams?
Negative. The servo seems to function just fine, and the tires do well also. Good sound car. Thanks for the interest, and welcome to the channel.
I've replaced my servo 3 times already. Until I upgraded it.. my tires tore up n replaced them too.
Whats the price for this with battery pack?
Around $1100.00 with batteries here in the US. The batteries, however, you can choose for yourself, to lower the price a bit.
Is it possible to have this car for those who live in Morocco
Unclear. Check with the Traxxas web site to find out.

Thanks for the visit

Thanks, man. I appreciate it.
Lucky dog, My birthday was Dec. 19th and I didn't get one. 😫
There is always next year. Never give up hope.
After installing front aluminum hubs and c hubs in my xmaxx trucks it would break something else even on small jumps. Never again.
"This is huge". That's what she said.
Yup 😎👍
Were can I purchase a umaxx
Xmaxx
Amazon, Amain hobbies, RC Super Store. They are available on EBay too.
Great video man, I have same one for about a year now. I love it, but I'm disappointed, after 7 months my motor took a dump and traxxas wont help me. So I haven't ran mine for 3 months now. Need new motor, help anyone, haha.. times are super tight.
I know the feeling. Keeping up for the channel is tough. Never give up, brother. 😎👍
How to buy i live in india
I am not sure. Perhaps EBay? Amazon? You should be able to get one online. I hope you find one.
I love your vids but HOW do you get sooo much money 💵
I work for a living and budget for the hobby. That's about it. Thanks for the question. AJ
So basically traxxas is marking this truck up 300%. Unreal. Were to blame for this bc we PAY it.
Not gonna lie my exb kraton has lot more power then this I’m torn tho dno what to get this or the losi dbxl e 2.0 the beast one 12s rtr it comes
For me the Losi wins. The Xmaxx is fun but the Losi just feels better. Good luck choosing. AJ
😆
Lol
I haaaaaate when out of the box rc's need upgrades just so you can run them as advertised..... it's fraudulent.
Definitely should be able to run in a regular form without needing upgrades. I think manufacturers should spend a bit more for durability before bringing out a new product. I know they count on parts sales to keep them going but I also know they have the ability to do better than this. Thanks for commenting 😎👍
