I'm from italy, i found a siberian in the street. He was almost dying, covered in oil (maybe he was in some motor van) and with blocked kidney near to collapse. I got him surgery, many showers and love to remove oil and now he's my best buddy. It's a lovable breed, smart, sweet and funny. He behaves like a dog.
My family’s Siberian was adopted from a shelter in October before the pandemic. He was a tiny, not super fluffy but still fluffy tabby kitten. One Canadian winter and POOF! A big, fluffy boy! We only knew he was a tabby, then thought he was a Mainecoon mix, but now confidently believe he’s at least 80% Siberian. He’s only talkative when he wants to be (aka when he REALLY wants outside) and while he is smart… he’s also about as sharp as a melted marshmallow most of the time. He also is only cuddly when he’s sleepy or wants something. The rest of the time he’s got the zoomies and is driving us crazy. But he’s the perfect, sweet little boy and we all love him!
my Bubba is the best cat ever, he's 26 lbs loves his water, can jump 6 ft. with little effort and is the best mouser. He lays on my laptop any chance he gets, of course, while I`m working. he's my best of friends and I'm lucky he chose me to adopt. he's my big boy . . .
Our Siberian cat looks just like the cat pictured on the Physical Characteristics slide. We’ve had her 6 years, she was a stray and we only now are finding out what kind of cat she is, she checks all the boxes! She is sweet and we love her so much. She is the queen of our castle!
The vet said my girl was Norwegian but i think she is a cross between siberian and norwegian. Shes 19yrs old with no health problems after bloods and health checks. I love these breeds great personalities
My Dear 'Moxie" ..... A GORGEOUS Siberian adopted from a rescue shelter,.passed away on August 4th 2024....she was 5 yrs old & had liver and pancreatic issues. We were together 2 yrs & 7 months......waaaaay Too short a time together...but every day she brought me smiles, laughter, companionship, surprises, joy & unconditional LOVE. I miss her Every day....... Siberians are just big, furry LOVE cookies ....❤🐾🐈😺💕🌹🌿🌻🌿
My Faye baby is the white with some light brown coloring variant, she was almost pure white when she was a kitten and gained more coloring over time. She’s always been super sweet, especially to strangers and will be very social to anyone and want pets. She also does very good with bathing, although it may be because I bathed her regularly when she was a teen lol. She doesn’t like the water, but she tolerates it. She is also not too pushy about exploring every bit of a room, and doesn’t get up and higher stuff so it’s very nice to have a cat not knocking over things lol. And also seeing how rare this breed is, seeing how we found her as a stray kitten baffles me! I’m not entirely sure if she is a Siberian forest cat, but she looks EXACTLY like the white ones in this video. And seeing her personality compared to the other 7 cats in my house, shows a lot how she is the perfect cat. She is also very vocal with me, like talking to me lmfao. She is also very smart, I’ve taught her many tricks with treats. And she knows some phrases like “want some food” and “all done” when the treat time is over.
I'm very allergic to cats (can't even touch them) and yes, I don't have reactions to my Siberian cat, thought it took a month to adapt and it depends for each person. Some may never adapt at all. Other than that, he dislikes water but isn't afraid to dip a paw.
I’m very allergic to cats but if i live with one…after 2 weeks i get immune to them and it goes away. I have 5 cats. If i go to someones house with a cat, i break out in hives snd get a wheezy chest. Crazy
I adore my beautiful color point Siberian girl! She can be feisty at times and she takes being our family guardian very seriously. She loves to snuggle and even with my allergies I am not affected by her fur. I thank God for her every day!
My Siberian isn’t even 1, but she acts like a dog too. It’s really funny because my dad was annoyed when we got her because he “wanted a dog not a cat” and now he has the most dog like cat ever. And of course he’s the cats favorite human 😂
Omg…i have a 1.5 years old Siberian. Very intelligent and very emotional- dog like id say. Ive a Scottish too who is not so intelligent and is a bit reserved.
My siberian died at 23, She was the best and most indipendent cat i ever had, im not sure but she may been older since she was abandoned and used to come eat at my grandma home as a young adult in 2001, we adopted her and she got a long life free in the countryside, i miss her even if i have other cats (her mixed descendants) i am looking for another siberian, the most beautiful cat in my opinion
I’m sorry for that, thank you for take care of her she most be very happy and thankful to you :) , please tell me what the most food she eats ? Wet food or dry food ? I really want my cat be health with a long live :”).
I miss my Siberian. Col Ives was an amazing cat. Acted like a dog and as sharp as a tack. Walked on a leash, played fetch, loved going on car rides in my Jeep, jumped in the pool whenever my wife or I went swimming. Loved the beach and snow. We took him everywhere with us and our Boston Terrier.
I’ve had a neva masquerade for 5 weeks now. He has made friends of all our pets and people in the house. He’s just the best and he can sleep on my head and I don’t have an asthma attack 🎉.
Wow that's great! It's quite rare that all the pets were able to be friendly with your cat in such a short amount of time. You must have such a calm and welcoming environment in your home!
My Siberian is 20. I think she steals life from the people around her because other than sleeping most of the time she doesn’t look or act old and she will still get mice.
No they are not related. Siberian cats originate from Central Asia. In fact, experts will tell you many differences between Siberian cats and Norwegian cats.
According to the Breed Standard the Norwegian Forest cat is a very old breed in Norway, featured in folk tales and mythology for centuries. This landrace* breed is adapted to a very cold climate, with a top coat of long, glossy hair and a woolly undercoat for insulation. The Norwegian term skogkatt literally means “forest cat.” In all probability, this was the cat the Viking explorers took with them to keep their ships clear of rodents, the same job they had in the barns in the Norwegian countryside. Their first arrival on the east coast of North America may have been with Leif Erickson or his contemporaries in the late 900s. Norwegian Forest Cats were almost lost as a distinct breed through hybridization with free-roaming domestic shorthairs in Norway. Interest was aroused among Norwegian cat fanciers who became determined to save the breed, but World War II put their efforts on hold. Efforts after the war were finally successful, resulting in the Norwegian Forest Cat being not only welcomed into the show ring in Europe, but also designated the official cat of Norway by the late King Olaf. They were not exported from Norway until the late 1970s, and the first pair arrived in the United States in November of 1979. The Norwegian Forest Cat was presented to the CFA Board for registration acceptance in February 1987 and in 1993 was accepted for full championship status. *A landrace is a domesticated, locally adapted variety of a species of animal or plant that has developed over time, through adaptation to its natural environment due to isolation from other populations of the species. Landraces are distinct from standard breeds.
My Siberian is actually rather quiet. He does have a loud purr and he is just a year old and he makes this "gremlin" sound that would probably be a roar if he were larger lol.
I have a purrrrrrrrrrrfect Siberian baby. He produces no dandruff at all, but needs combing twice a day everyday or he will get hair tangles. Surprisngly, he doesn't like winter.
I'm still a bit allergic to my Mochi cat, but it's definitely not as bad as with other cats. With daily allergy meds, I'm symptom free as long as I don't touch my eyes after petting him.
