I love watching your technique get better and better! You have to be the best on UA-cam now, you’ve gone to another level now! And I do remember the 3day chipping techniques you shared on those tanks and I remember thinking how can this man have so much patience! Yet on another level! Lol Great video as always and can’t wait to see this in the end diorama ☺️👍👏
I would keep the weathering light for this model; I think it looks great already and it would be a nice contrast compared to some of your other recent models.
@@NightShiftScaleModels well, weathering was nice imho. Moderate with lots of details, even some uneven white stripes with some drops and stains. Looks like a downscaled real IS-2, like straight from battle or museum. Respect ✊🏻
I love this wonderful channel, this voice and his extraordinary ability and can be. Every Friday is Nightshift time for me, thanks for your super great videos. keep going!!
Nice job. One thing I have gotten from you is to paint the lighter portion of the chips first. Then come back with the darker color in the center. It sped my work up, considerably. That leather jacket looks like it's real. Well done.
WOW! Just... WOW! The Chipmeister strikes again! My friends thought I was nuts when I switched to mostly Acrylics about 25 years ago. But Then Came Vallejo... 😍 For me, it changed everything. And I think they've changed the formula a little bit because it spray's better now! Hooray!!! BTW... I envy your eyesight!
Very nice presentation. The odd color adds a realistic touch. At the time the IS-2 was in service, the Germans were in full retreat and they located the Russians by seeing where on the horizon the dust cloud was. Tanks were more worried about death from the sky, the turret bands, than tactical colors.
Looks great and liking the leather work - thanks for showing how you did the suitcase and jacket. Used your glazing technique on a 1/72 scale aircrew- quick and the highlights & shadows pop.
I’m really tempted to pull my Tamiya kit out and build it after watching what you’ve done with it. Out of all the video you made the IS-2 is my favorite. Edit: is the inside of the hatches supposed to be white? I always thought it would be the tanks base colour?
from what I know the inside of tanks was a light colour (usually) as they were very dark when buttoned down so they painted them light inside to help the crew see slightly better than if it was all painted black for instance (I don't think I have explained very well but you can get the gist)
Some Soviet units painted the inside hatches some kept them white. The hatches were not forward so they couldn't be seen well to worry about being bright enough to see. Thats where references come in pretty handy. I'm doing a jsu122. And a jsu152 one of them had white interior hatch color and the other was the same color as the outside.
I saw the hatches in BW photos in a dark and pretty pale color, so I assume both options are correct. Here it was pure artistic license to add some more visual interest to the model :)
I used to have a room with a ceiling full of hanging model airplanes, Haven't made any in a loooooong time. Very tempted to get a tank, possibly are Tiger.
Thanks for a video, I’ve had a busy week and not much modeling time. I love the weld beads on the upper glacis! Great job as always! Also, I hope you have fun with your friends, work-life balance is important!
Another fantastic video! I have learned so much from your wisdom. Not sure if you script your voiceovers or not but I always find them very well done and informative. Thanks again and please never stop!
@@daspanzer135 Nope, followed directions. I guess I got spoiled on Super Solvent. It works instantly instead of having to wait 10 minutes and takes it off layer by layer instead of a gunk ball. Also doesn't leave that axle grease residue.
hello, it turned out very nice, please tell me how to learn how to paint like you?) and do you cover the figures after painting with varnish?) thanks in advance)
Look over at Squidmar's channel (if you're not already familiar, he's a guy who paints mostly Warhammer minis). About a year ago he did a great video on how to maintain brushes. Search "Squidmar stop messing up your brushes" and you'll find it.
its funny as soon as I hit one of your vids I always do the my friends line trying to get it right.... if I ever start doing youtube again I'm gonna have to try doing u proud.....
tank it's perfect, on the figures a little to much of black shadows, if i csn tell .. are less realistic than other your work. can i ask if you 'll leave the lather of bag and jacket flat or you 'll gibe them a little of satin varnish for a more realistic effect? 😊
What is your opinion using Tamiya gray putty w/ Mr Leveling Thinner to create armour texture as opposed to your formula of Tamyia gray putty w/ Tamiya Extra thin cement? I've never tried your formula so any feedback would be most appreciated thanks
Truthfully, from the various construction vehicles I’ve seen, the chipping that occurs in reality are usually large and very pronounced. While Kovac is a chipping master, I don’t necessarily think you need all those tiny tiny chips. Though they do look amazing
Nice work! Tank is looks like a realone and in a full size. Author can you make a photo with it, like in original photo? =) just interesting how reallitic its will be look like =)
Last time I was this early, the battle of Berlin was still going on

The suitcase details are very nice! Always like made weathering with acrylic too.
That tarp almost looks cell shaded, I absolutely love it!
I would keep the weathering light for this model; I think it looks great already and it would be a nice contrast compared to some of your other recent models.
That's the thing! And you can appreciate the other effects more when the weathering is kept subtle.

That tank rotating on the display, cut to various stages of the build is awesome!
It already looks good even if it's not weathered yet, great job!
Uncle Night Shift, Thank you for all the lessons I have learned from watching your videos. Sincerely, your nephew Ron.
Another fantastic build and those figures look absolutely amazing THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT.

looks very cool! But in my opinion, it is better to paint the welded joints with graphite, and the headlight reflector in chrome)

What colors did you use for the green uniform?

Have you tried rubbing / dragging coarse metal wool over wooden elements to create '3d' wood grain?
Of course! It works very well on large wooden surfaces such as telegraph poles.

Yessss
Do you ever build warships, or is the scale too much for the kind of details you like?
...need to add some white paint drops to the body of the tank (which would compliment the white paint runs on the turret)
