I’ve been modeling armor for over 40 years. I’ve followed Sheperd Paine, Verlinden , Tony Greenland and other talented modelers, but you my friend are in the top master class. Not only are you talented you are a great teacher! Thank you for your detailed presentations!
@Steve Morley That is going to be great indeed!
@@planetearts5182 I definitely agree with this accurate statement
I agree with you. When I started watching Martin's lessons - started adding a little texture and seams to each model. But now I'm suffering... without the difference of models. Example: T-34 from dragon and MSD (Real plastic firewood) The experience has grown so much that only the color of the plastic distinguishes them. I feel like an insatiable student who wants knowledge and is waiting for a new lesson.
That's absolutely right, he's just great!!!
Night Shift: goes out his way to make the most detailed weld beads and custom grab handles and equipment for models
Also Night Shift: “waterslide details are more convenient”
I just love that his "basically just started" is a million times better than the majority of folks completely finished.
im now working on my 5 th model thanks for showing me the world of models
It's such a fun world, dull of possibilities! Uncle got me back into it also!
It takes a real artist to make 4 ounces of plastic look like 40 tons of steel!
The decals are the best part in my opinion, because they adapt to the textures and they look like they are actually painted on the tank
Anyway great job as always! 👏
30th!! Love your videos man! I actually just bought this model a week ago before you came out with the video😂😂
"I'm no expert".
Dude you are a master and so humble.
Love your work, your explanations, and your vids!
Fantastic work. As someone who just bought an airbrush, I'll be using your videos as a major help
Thank you , Uncle Martin .
🐺
Hi Uncle Night Shift.
I still don't build tank models, but I watch all your videos. Great technics for other types of sculpture too. I do have a 1:35 M5A1 Stuart that I plan on kit-bashing into "Tank Girl's" tank hopefully in the near future. Your tips should be very helpful with that. Thanks 🙂
Maybe it's no longer a big deal, but thank you for recording in such a quality.
Today I had time to watch on a larger divice than a smartphone, really enjoyed the crisp footage!
If any UA-cam channel about a relatively niche hobby could succeed as an actual tv show, it’d be this one. Not only are you talented, informative, and engaging, but your videos are a welcome relief from the rest of the world and its problems.
Friday!!! Uncle Night Shift time!
The stripes on the turret are fantastic! The chipping, mapping, and paint runs compliment the turret texture really well. The paint job highlights the textures without covering anything up, great job!
My day improves every time there is new video of Night Shift, beautiful work
It's like watching a genius at work, always improving his techniques by innovating.
That chipping trick on the airbrushed white paint was amazing.
This is freaking perfection!
The tracks make the entire model! Wow!
this brings me joy.
Nice paintjob. thx
Very big respect, it's just fantastic what you build, your precision, your perfect implementation of your templates, just a great channel. keep it up Martin. Greetings from Germany
This is the highlight of my week
Thank you
Great work as always! Thank you.
Whoah, that texturing. Fantastic work Mr Night Shift.
I love how that rear deck behind the turret (and everything in general) turned out with the different shades of highlighting. Also how heavy the metal tracks look with all the sag in them...so realistic. 😎
Talk about a mean green fighting machine awesome job my friend. You have inspired me to start post shading on my models and I will look into buying some filters.
You are a magician!
Excellent work! 👍
Nice! I've been waiting for this!
Would you ever consider doing a video on airbrushing techniques? Do’s and font’s that you’ve learned over the years?
fantastic work
I watch a lot of model builders on UA-cam and I can confidently say, you are the best at Armor on the platform. I like watching your videos even though I only build Aircraft. Your painting is amazing.
Just listened to your interview on the Sprue Cutters Union podcast and you hit all the highlights of that episode in this video haha- gloss before decal, MRP evangelizing, and the power of inks. Great video as always! Not to mention it's nice to see some Soviet steel again- there's something so brutal and alluring about the designs. You certainly do these subjects justice with your work. The story that unfolds from what you've presented thus far really captures the reality of Soviet wartime industry in a way that makes the history come alive.
As a curiosity, have you ever considered doing a kit from start to finish without an airbrush (except for maybe varnishing) for the channel? I'd be interested to see how far brush techniques can go and what skills you're able to refine, discover, or master. Cheers!
so are we saying should not don't gloss before decaling, or we should gloss before decaling?
awesome work!
I love your stuff man you got some seriously great talents
Thanks for the great work!
Love it! Great decals and white marks effects!
Very lovely to details! Nice
Adam Wilder would be proud! You are just as good as he is!
Well done
Just in time to watch while doing some evening welds on my SU-85. Keep up the good work!
That looks teriffic Martin. Nice job 😁👍
DEFINITELY picking up an IS2 at tankfest this weekend. I need to try out that texturing! Awesome job!!!😍
You were there nice I also went got an IS2 model as well.
@@duckman5891 if you were the guy who said “IS-2, nice” as I walked by in the line, that was me 😂
@@xoiylo4660 Unfortunately that wasn't me but which days did you go?
@@duckman5891 Just a popular tank then! I went on the Friday
@@xoiylo4660 same I also went on Saturday but man the line to get in was HUGE like it went around the museum.
Beautiful work
Looks great. I must learn more about these 4BO painting techniques. All the best for You! ;)
Missed Uncle Nightshift's 4bo, and its even better with the post shading!!
Awesome work.
just as i was rewatching your older vids this was uploaded
A short and efficient video for a great result 👍🏻👍🏻
Love it Marto..!!
Night Shift and Plasmo out on the same day. Be still, mine heart.
Great video!
I'd honestly be really interested in seeing you kitbash a tank. Or even scratch build.
kv-6 moment
Hi Martin! This is definitely the best soviet green base coating ever!
I love your models and I started building tanks (I was an aircraft modeller) thanks to you. I’ve learned a lot and I’m going to build a king tiger from takom in 1/35 scale, inspired buy a book called “ PANZERS IN BERLIN 1945” where I found this tiger 311 with some photos and instantly fell in love with it.
Hope you’ll do another cat soon, maybe the royal one!
Master work.
Stunning!👍🏻
Brilliant
Excellent work! In the world of AFVs, it's mostly earth tones and dull/drab colors (all about blending in) - amazing how you make this field interesting as you say. I see why the 4BO is a nice change. Kinda on the same subject as blending in, I understand the "thought" behind invasion strips, but sure seems to counter the notion of camo.... cheers.
Absolutely stunning 👌
Perfect! 👍
God damn this is good. Great tutoring for 4BO painted tank.
I personally think your a better modeler than Wilder! Most people would be very satisfied with they're personal models if it looked just like it is at this stage! You are advancing the hobby through your imagination and natural artistic ability's and I am learning more and more from you.......Thank You!
Your basecoat looks better than my complete models
fantastic my friend. i love IS 2 too. i will build one in the future.
Very authentic Russian color palette. You are right about Tamiya's yellow-green. It's useful for shading US WWII cockpits, as well. I find that I enjoy mixing to get the right color that I want. Gunze Sanyo has some off the wall colors that come in handy, too. Nice work, as usual.
Video idea: do a tank on on a budget, meaning no airbrush, rotary tool, or tons of random paints. That would be so cool and so helpful for me and im sure many other people
Just finished watching your T29 series aka "The olive drab saga".
And now back to soviet heavy metal again ✌️🧐
So good, so good.
Great looking model, I'm in the middle of building a Tiran 5 Israeli T55.
Nice work modelcomrade.
I have a IS 2 to in my "Little" Depot.
And your advice s for the painting is Very intresting for me🤗🤗😉⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐For the Model Greets from Christian at Germany
I would be very happy to call it 'finished' at this stage.
Krásný model, vypadá to moc dobře 👍
This looks so awesomely good. I wish I had .25% of your skills.
Impressive! For my standard should be enough just at this stage!
Look awesome wish I could paint mine this way
Stunning work, i like the soviet monsters. I hope we will see a ISU-152 too. Its one of the most impressive vehicles of ww2.
Wonderful uncle!!
I’m actually really impressed with the ammo shader results. It really doesn’t look like it was added on after the fact let alone haphazardly like that!
JS-2😆👍 you are the best.
And right over here I think we’ll add a happy little tank.
beautiful
I have an octopus stand tool too! That is a good idea to put a screw in the model to mount. I will try and get MRP paints in Canada if I can. well done!
Greetings Martin, that beast is looking great, the markings looked very realistic, ther is something about those WWII Russian beast, looking forward to the next installment, very bext regards from Australia
i'm also working to a JS-2 too but from zvezda in a winter-a-like camo
Yes!
Krásny model
I'm a fan of the black background.
Who else remembers him building the 1/100 IS2 from Zvezda
Great job. All of your work is amazing but this is one of my favorites. Sincerely, yo friend.
Очень круто, жду продолжения!!!😀😀😊
Night Shift I love your content! You have inspired me to start model building. What airbrush do you use?
Смотрится просто потрясающе 🔥 в предвкушении жду продолжение)
Best 4BO I've ever seen
Just a tip I've heard and tried but citadel contrast medium is amazing at uniforming the carrier film on decals if you're having a problem with that :)
IM-perfection!
All I have to say is I need to go to the Art store and pick up some fantastic paint brushes,,, like the one Night Shift is using at 11:30
Thank you for paying attention to Soviet armored vehicles. I would like to make a small clarification regarding the color of the paint.
Russian modelers have long been discussing the topic of painting Soviet armored vehicles during the Great Patriotic War. True 4BO paint has not been produced since 1952. However, according to various sources, it was possible to restore the approximate composition and color. In the RSL color space, it has the following composition: 96-87-55 or a lighter version - 103-91-61. I think that if you have a calibrated monitor, you can quite accurately prepare a mixture of paints to simulate 4BO paint.
Well, I don't think 4BO wasn't as standardized as are colors today. Then there is the issue of exposure to sunlight. One would think that colors always fade, but that applies only to years of exposure, which was hardly the norm in wartime. One source states that 4BO could get darker, not lighter, when exposed to sunlight. In short, I wouldn't worry too much about the one "true" 4BO...
@@jczeus As for the influence of the Sun, then, of course, the color changed. However, the composition of 4BO was strictly regulated. Even the pigments that were part of this paint were of a strictly defined origin. Of course, upon the arrival of equipment in combat units, it was sometimes repainted to match the conditions of the area, and in winter it was completely changed color.
I dont have headphones or earbuds with me right now and had to play this quiet so i could not hear the background music idk why but the videos just dont feel the same without it😂
