Incredible! Thank you for this information. A distance only approach on “equal terms” seems very bulletproof! I was wondering if there are ever poses where you are forced to not work from a distance? Are viewpoints taken closer to the model also helpful (if the model has their head down for example), or is any observation from closer than “Leonardo’s 3x metric” useless? So appreciative of your content, keep it up!
I would say there are not poses but information that's only available when up close. Sometimes you need to get close observe more specific and detailed information. It's not a distance only approach but the majority of the large decisions should be made from a distance.
As always I love how much knowledge you have to share. Thank you. Could any of this be used in portrait painting? Just a question as I am working on my portrait skills now. I have to add the Sandeep is a spunk. :D
Thank you! Yes it could! Observing on equal terms is even more important in painting! I'm not sure it's all directly applicable but the overall concept of observing the subject in the same way you are trying to represent them certainly applies! I'll assume you are Australian and spunk means handsome, if not I'm not exactly sure what to think.. But it's hard to disagree, Sandeep is a handsome devil!
Hello 🙂 The scale is about 3/4 of life-size. It’s maybe around 2 meters tall to the top of the raised arm (the figure is standing on tall base as well). There is a lot more photos of it on my Instagram page if you’d like to see 🙂
i think this is why having a skeleton replica in your studio is important. Your lessons are incredible
It's a good idea to understand the skeleton thoroughly! Thank you 🙂
Fantastic work Eirik!
thank you immensely for the information you passed. Here in Brazil I would never have access to this kind of content.
Thank you! That's my goal, to do what I can to give as many as possible this information.
