    Fascinating. And thank you for introducing Jean Baptiste Carpeaux. I just an hour or so looking into him and Michelanelo. And Bernini whose a favourite of mine. You are a great ambassador for figurative Art.

      Carpeaux is a legend! It's sad he didn't live longer and got to make more work in the vain of the Ugolino, my god what a masterpiece!

    the right hand of Michelangelo's David is one of the greatest things ever sculpted in my humble opinion.

      @EirikArnesenArt  5 років тому +1

      Hard to disagree with that! Though I’d put the hands Carpaux did on the Ugolino up there as well. Michelangelo’s Moses as well! Michelangelo sculpted a few good hands...

    Awesome job. You are great inspiration for us. I would like to know more about the silicone rubber that you use (Yellow). In Brazil we dont have. I see in many videos and photos of this rubber that aplication is make with hands and the consistency is very diferent.
    Tks a lot. Sorry my english, i still learning.

      It’s called Bluesil RTV 3325 P. Maybe it’s not available in Brazil. See if Resilpom is available, pretty much the same thing. And Smooth On has a couple of silicones that are similar! Thank you for kind words 🙂 You’re English is better than my Portuguese!

    hello I was hoping you could do a video on sculpting the head if you haven't already started or planed to. I would like to see your method. I use to sculpt years ago for about four and a half years I achieved the female face twice perfectly in many opinions. I took on the techniques of Stuart Williamson sculpting from the inside out. as things are, life happens and I was forced to stop my craft due to financial issues. I just recently picked it back up. I had a whole studio worth of supplies I had to abandon including Stuarts video witch I studied endlessly I still remember a great deal enough to get started again. not to beat around the bush do not want to fork over 120$ again after all I lost. so I was waiting for you to release something if not ok, but if so I can imagine many would be eternally grateful. thank you your skills are ancient in style and I am a huge fan. if you make any dvds they would definitely sell. once again thank you.

      Hello and thank you for your comment! I am planning to make an extensive portrait sculpting video series in the future. It will probably be Patreon Exclusive, meaning you have to be a $5 or more Patreon in order to get access to the video. I will be making a video on sculpting very small heads soon as well using my latest maquette as an example.

    How do you sculpt hands for an 18 inch figure

    • @EirikArnesenArt
      @EirikArnesenArt  4 роки тому

      Use a small tool and work from large to small. Less details might work to your advantage. The impression is more important then how realistically the hand is sculpted.

    What clay do you use, and does it dry out to get hard or do you bake it somehow?

    • @EirikArnesenArt
      @EirikArnesenArt  4 роки тому

      It's water based clay, so it does dry out. But I water it so it doesn't and then I make a mold of the sculpture and cast copies. No baking.

    I am really crushed in things what You do. Its wonderful. I want to be 20 years old again to have Your knowledge and to share. To make crazy things. Now i am 57 years old, workless, i forget my artist career, lockdown here in germany and i am stunned. In germany nobody cares in animation, its not an option, although not in sculpture. My dream always was to animate, to sculpture something. I do some shorts and figures, but nobody cares here in germany. I was the mailman, productutive on a industrial band, be a host on a red mile, selling dildos. And now, the pandemic stops me, what was my dream as i am 20? Here You find me. I have no money i try to figure out my dream as an artist. I have met a giant man, he change my life, and i want to sculpture him as a statue. No money for clay, water or oilbased. I use toiletpaper and wallpaper kleist. Now i see Your videos and other wonderfull videos for formeling good structures. Its so important to have the right material. If You make a sculpture with oilbased Clay You should have the oven in this size. Otherwise You dont do this sculpture. Ok, i have many questions. First to do a sculpture not to need a ofen. Second a clay to be really detailed and its forever. Looking good. And third, can i use childclay, cheaper than the giant clay performers to do a firstcliemer, a prototype?

    • @EirikArnesenArt
      @EirikArnesenArt  3 роки тому

      I would use oil-based clay, no need for an oven, the clay doesn't dry out so it lasts forever.
