Lyrical music is inspired a lot of times by political, economical and social events. A form of expression embraced by so many fans. Music alone is inspiring but adding powerful lyrics opens the door for interpretations and unfortunately assumptions by the ones consuming it. I guess you have to take the bad along with the good if you are the artist, but at the same time understand that your music can and does influence people so be prepared for the consequences whether bad or good and remain a consummate professional in the face of either.
