Thank you for making this video. Just received my AF2028-80 today and was surprised that the tube came packed in it's box and not installed in the machine. From a shipping safety standpoint, this is a great idea. From a first-time laser owner standpoint it was more than a little intimidating. This video made the process of installation super easy and safe. Thanks again!
Just wanted to say thanks for your time and effort in making this video. You did a great job explaining. I had to switch out my old tube to this make and model and this helped immensely.
Thank god for this video! My 100w C02 was in a box upon delivery. I had no idea how to install. The only bad thing was I am missing one of the blue silicone spacers. :(
Be sure to check out laser-guys.com/setup for our full setup guide. Don’t skip steps. They’re important! Also make sure you got yourself an in-line fan. The stock fans are crap! Links on the same website.
@@EdmondsWoodshop looking for some advice. So the co2 laser packaging was missing one of the blue silicone spacers. Omtech is 3 weeks out on sending one. Question is, could I slice the one I have in half, making two? Or can I 3d print new 60mm holders with correct height?
The spacer is meant to provide grip and support within the mounting bracket. If you have one space holding the tube in place then you just need the secondary spacer to support the smaller diameter in the larger diameter mount. You can 3D print one but make sure it’s not so big that the mount won’t close. Those mounts flex only so much before they break at the springy part
Thank you so much for this video. I have found little to no info for installing these. Everything Omtech had was with a white connector and I searched high and low to find. It has been a very frustrating day. Subscribing to your channel. Thank you again.
Very well explained. This is a smallish machine and you can get away with slight errors, on a laser with a larger bed all errors will compound each other. On a larger laser, you need to make sure that all of the axis and tube are perfectly level to each other and that the laser tube is at the same height as the center of the last mirror on the laser head. All mirrors need to be exactly the same distance from the axis that they travel along or point down. Get that right and you're laughing 😁
Thank you, this is an excellent video. My AF2028 is due here in a couple of days and I feel better prepared to install the tube. I also got the LED lights and will be doing both the fan and light upgrade right from the start.
The tube is pretty easy to install. Once you get to alignment, check out my other alignment video. Also, laser-guys.com/setup will get you started asap
Thank you. I just got my first laser and have to install this tube. Omtech support said to watch their video online on how to install tube but they don't have video for this tube. Also I noticed the head of the tube looks like it will be shooting beam low on mirror number 1, and I don't see how to adjust the tube higher, So do I have to lower the first mirror lower or am I missing something. I've shared this video to help others in this situation.
Take a look at this video. The answer is yes. The video shows an old model but it’s the same bolt locations. On the newer models there’s a 5 bolt on the right side with the electronics Bolt Locations for your AF2028-80 OMTech ua-cam.com/video/mch3PdnvORw/v-deo.html
I recently sold my MF2028-80 and got the AF2028-80. The new laser came with the YongLi laser tube. I also have a YongLi laser tube on my OMTech polar. I’m a thoroughly impressed with YongLis laser tube performance versus the EFR.
@@EdmondsWoodshop thank you very much. My mf2028-60 is probably running EFR i cant seem to tell since the label is tilted inwards but only time will tell about performance maybe then ill try something new. Definitely giving you a subscribe.
You’re going to be so close to mirror 1 that you’ll be hitting, but you can always do a pulse check to see where it’s hitting. Level won’t matter. When you get your pulses on top of each other, you’ll want your pulse to hit center at mirror 3. In order to adjust your pulses, you’ll shim your tube to get the pulse to move at mirror 3. I plan on making a new alignment video on this.

Thank you for the feedback!
I kept watching your older video and couldn't figure out what you were talking about on several items...this video is what I actually needed!! Thanks!
I wish all lasers had the same setup but unfortunately they don’t. I try to record what o can for the items that i have
Ijust received my AF2028. Thank you for the channel. It was a breeze to install my CO2 tube!

Thank you. 742 hours on mine and it looks like I may have to change which I don’t understand because it’s never been ran on 30% power
Hugely helpful. I'm setting mine uup today for the first time.
Glad it helped. Don’t forget that red insulator!
