Great video. Just rec'd my pronto 80W laser yesterday and uncrated. Will do the initial connections/setup next week. Have a sign shop so will be doing a lot of acrylic work and engraving promo items. TY for your video!!
@@EdmondsWoodshop that's perfect and thanks for the reply, but i have a quick question, is it possible to use the auto focus when using a rotary, i just bought the machine and should be on the way and like to be ready, i actually used the discount code you provided, please help
They have a dedicated rotary plug in the front of the Y axis with a switch. Your piburn rotary will fit right in it as well without having to remove the honeycomb bed. I do show it briefly in the video.
Great video Edmond. Awesome video. I am convinced now that pronto 40 is the machine im going to get, the problem is that im in 220v/50hz country. could you share if the 24v power supply has 110v/220v switch on it and if the tube power supply is rated up to 240V. i already asked omtech and got a no answer answer on that. thanks
Hi, the 24v power supply has a 220 switch on it. My laser tube power supply is 110v in the U.S. OMTech sells globally so your power supply would be properly installed based off your region.
@@EdmondsWoodshop and those are the only 2 power supplies powering the whole machine or do i need to purchase something else to get it going at 220V ? thanks a lot for this!
Id imagine a compressor driven air assist would be a pretty expensive upgrade for OMTech. I plan on upgrading as soon as I figure out how to bypass this smart card.
Great Video! The website mentions a “detachable design” that splits into 3 tiers… I was wondering if you can see how easy/difficult this might be to get it into smaller doorways etc?
I don’t think the website mentioned a detachable design. They showed a video that appeared to be in three pieces, but I could be wrong. Just don’t remember seeing it. However, this does NOT separate into three pieces and it’s extremely heavy. I’m a strong guy and I can barely pick up one end.
@@EdmondsWoodshop Ah I see the US website is abit different to the Australian site. The Aussie site has it pretty clearly written afew times as a selling point, but the only thing I could see on the normal US site is a quick 3 second video loop of it coming apart. I imagine its not an easy process with wiring running from the bottom unit the control panels etc... if it is even possible at all! I'm waiting on the 130W unit and I feel like finding a spot for it is going to be challenging!
On the omtech, do you have to upload your files to the laser and then go to the machine to adjust the cut/engrave? Does this come with a camera? Nice video.
Nope. You do everything in the software. You can either start it from the software or send the design to the laser and press start on the control panel. However all the design and settings are done in the software.
You'd have to turn the laser on its side and remove the emergency stop switch. There can't be any twists or turns as the laser goes through the entrance. It has to be a straight shot. Then it might be able to fit through a 36" doorway
I’m currently recording a setup video that will showcase some additional examples, but I will most likely showcase other materials as I use them on projects that I have to finish. These usually end up on instagram or in the FB group that I manage
How did you get the laser off the blocks? I received my Pronto45 and I’m not sure how to get it off the blocks. Do you recommend a pallet Jack to lift it. It seems the blocks are nailed down.
Oh my gosh. It was a task for sure. And I’m a strong guy. They are nail down. First I unbolted the feet. Then I used a 2 x 4 to left the side of the machine. I simultaneously twisted the feet so they’d lower and raise the laser. I did this for both sides. I then took a crow bar and a mallet and just started pounding away until I could get them loose.
Yes. It’s recommended to be in a dedicated circuit. The in-line fan and the air assist are plugged into the back of the pronto and I run the pronto on a dedicated 20 amp circuit. My chiller is on a separate circuit.
Have you owned other OMTechs? I’m wondering if this new pronto line is an improvement over their past machines. I do not speak from experience but just basing it off of other owners.
I currently own the OMTech polar, the AF2028-80, 30w fiber and pronto all from OMTech. I’ve also had the MF2028-80z They AF2028-80 and the pronto are two different gantry/rail systems but you’ll get more space and performance from the pronto. The pronto is considered a mid level laser from OMTech with the pro series being their premium brand. Join our FB community. I’m engaging with folks in there every day . Don’t forget to budget with discount code: LASERGUYCAM or LASERGUYS5OFF
Why do they continue to put a important thing like the amp meter in awkward places ? Stupid. That should be up top by the control panel. Wish the control panel could read the amperage and show it. But again in a stupid out of the way place. Good vid on it.
I have TL Nova 35/80 that is almost identical to this. Do yourself a favor, when you're removing your honeycomb bed, undo the brass knurled knob on the lens tube, slide it out and put it off to the side. When you put your bed back in, slide the lens tube back into position and re-tighten it.
the door micro-switches - absolute garbage - both failed in less than 3 days. I'd rather proximity switches, at least with those it was simple misalignment. These micro switches, VS10N051C2 are hard to find and when you find them locally they are stupid expensive for what they are. Guess I'll be bypassing these switches now.

i would love to see how would you used the auto focus using a rotary to make tumblers.
Unfortunately I will not be making anymore content for OMTech until they figure out their business with us.

You need to manually focus with the rotary. They provide focus gauge to set the distance
Good video, Cam! Wish I had room for this one. But my MF 2028 is taking up all of my space already. LOL
You and me both! My AF2028-80 is in my basement shop. The pronto now lives in the garage.
Great video. Question, is the port to plug in the rotary still in the back or did it get moved to a more accessible spot?

that's a very approach to focusing!
It’s different for sure. I imagine these will need to be wiped down often. Time will tell on the performance.
If you place the material front right corner, is it detected?
I’ll have to try. I’m sure as long as it passes the sensors path it’ll be fine.
I like a lot of the upgrades, still not sure about the aquarium type pump vs. a compressor

I couldn't tell from the video, but what type of Limit switches does it have? Proximity sensors or physical switches?
They are physical pressure limit switches

@EdmondsWoodshop i have run a dedicated plug for my pronto 40. Did you also put in a dedicated 8' ground rod within 5' of the machine.
A neat looking machine. I wish the sides came off of my laser.
Like the panels?

As far as I’m tracking they just have an 80w and 130w available. Don’t know their shipping times.

I have guides like this on my 3d printer and I have to say that they wear out faster than normal guides...
Which guides? The drag chain guides? The gantry system?
Lineal rail
looks like they did a fairly decent job of copying a thunder nova series... kinda.

I don’t disagree. I use my mA meter for several reasons so having access to it is pretty important
