Disarm was really beautiful. Billy was smiling not just because the crowd was beating him to the lyrics, but because you can tell by the look in his eyes that he knows he made it. He had a rough life growing up and I'm sure he was in disbelief at how far he had come. Not to mention, the crowd is amazing and full of energy, something you really don't get nowadays.
I love Billy. Such an interesting person, fantastic song writer and amazing guitarist. His songs are immaculate. The true sound of the 90's for me at least.
+dfisk79 There's plenty of good music you just gotta look bro. Seriously so many lazy people. Cower the internet. Reddit is a great place to ask for band suggestions.
Totally agree ! every decade had a style of music, 80's were metal, 90's grunge, since 2000 I really have not seen anything new. Everything has already been written, there is no new music to be made, it has all been done before. To the end we come. Nothing in the last 18 years has defined the post 2000's, and sadly nothing likely will. Just happy I got to experience the 90's music as it happened, and still listen to it today. Rarely a time when things happen together, directions change and moments define. Just be glad you were there, look back and smile.
Far out! Would of been such a surreal moment performing and everyone singing alone to a song you created . Such a great performance of Disarm, probably one of the best performances of Disarm I have personally seen here on UA-cam.
I love how young D'arcy looks like she just walked out of the crowd and on the stage to play base. Actually they all look like average people here vs. their later superstar styles but James Iha always looked chic.
let me translate the beginning: smashing pumpkins broke trough on the lowslands festival a year ago in august. the weird guitar player billy corgan is the big man behind the band. despite the good reviews critics gave to siamese dream billy corgan said the best is yet to come, well thats pretty much what the guy said. its dutch
I used to be a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan and for some reason they faded away... I started listening to more modern music plus 80s pop / goth stuff, totally forgetting about the 90s... Now that I'm hearing this stuff... its freaking incredible
i was at this festival just to see the Pumpkins - One of the 5 best gigs i have seen in the 90's by a large margin - Powerful - limitless mastery at their best . The crowd energy was unique - very communicative
I was in that crowd somewhere but weirdly I don't remember much about this performance, whereas I pretty much remembered the Crowded House set entirely. Perhaps there was alcohol involved.
I used to love crowed surfing, it was an amazing buzz, the first time I did it I ran straight round to the back of the crowed and did it again. However, I ended up growing quite a lot taller and heavier, and this had two effects. The first was that I'd frequently nearly get knocked out by someone landing on my head, and I'd also I started sensing intense displeasure when I landed on top of someone else. It's a shame it's gone away, but maybe not an entirely bad thing?
@DogStarChampion Okay, in honesty I totally agree with you on Owata, thats one of the few SP songs I really find it hard to like. Even the version with the guitar is still hardly an okay song at best, but hopefully Oceania is a bit of everything. But I dont get why people hated later pumpkins at all. Tarantula, the Everlasting Gaze, Adore, G.L.O.W., etc are all great songs in my opinion, and I feel like teargarden was the first real slip up but that was free so I kinda just let that slide.
Of course, there aren't many bands out there on the live scene who induce the need to mosh. I'm sure if you went to a RATM concert you'd still see some serious moshing. I remember seeing them at the Reading festival, it's the only time I've ever witnessed THE WHOLE ARENA moshing.

Totally agree. I would've been in awe if i had a massive crowd like that singing my lyrics back at me while I performed. Amazing
kopites are gobshites
@@notch7751 it's inspiring honestly. Sorry for taking yiu through the time machine. Well actually not really, this is a good spot to be, lol.
Why can't music and festivals be like this today....90s teens had all the fun ;(
It was fucking great. I loved it.
@@54spatula yeah we did
Yes we did ! My god it was beautiful!
The Smashing Pumpkins are "The Band" of the 90's.
Yes🙌🙌
Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins = Top 3 IMO.
What a great snapshot of the 90s.No cell phones just people enjoying amazing music.
I can't tell if u are meme-ing or not and that to me is beautiful
I love Billy. Such an interesting person, fantastic song writer and amazing guitarist. His songs are immaculate. The true sound of the 90's for me at least.
I love Billy's shirts in this era.
This
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
MY GOD... Billy's voice, is untouchable. Hands down one of my favourite vocalists/guitarists/songwriters etc of the 90's.
the last decade of great music

So glad I came into my musical preference as a teenager in the 90s. I was cultivated in the era of rock alternative grunge ska punk. I had it all

Billy is laughing at them singing haha.
+Ryan Rizzio i think because they were singing faster than he was so they were off time
Still the best hummer live version. Sounds exactly like on the album
+Wan A.V.O Its very good, but the difference between it and the album is quite clear
Billy was so cute in that epoque!
man, that would be such a proud moment to have thousands of people know all the lyrics of your song
About this time they were the very best Smashing Pumpkins. That’s when they got me and still get me the most
damn... great post Mark... enjoyed reading it and completely agree
SIncerely,
an old timer that went to concerts b4 the internet had everything
These guys are locked in, Solid. This sounds great!
My favorite band of the 90’s. Billy and Jimmy were 2 geniuses that found each other and made something beautiful.
Uma das coisas mais lindas que já vi. Plateia e banda com interação total.
i was there and it was the first time i ever heard their music. and i was blown away. love that the vid of it is still there to relive it :)

So so true. The passion and raw excitement of concerts nowadays is not what it used to. Fuck I'm getting old
Before I never thought that Billy was doing most of the lead. I admired James Iha that time.
I wish I was at this concert, well I guess that'd be impossible since I wasn't born yet
Same
i was at this festival just to see the Pumpkins - One of the 5 best gigs i have seen in the 90's by a large margin - Powerful - limitless mastery at their best . The crowd energy was unique - very communicative
Ahh was gutted when that stopped. Ouch!
Aw... this is true Smashing Pumpkins. Something nobody will ever get to see again...
I'm just sure that at 2:26 Billy's thought was "Damn, I'm awesome"
the bitterness of one whos left alone/superb!
I was in that crowd somewhere but weirdly I don't remember much about this performance, whereas I pretty much remembered the Crowded House set entirely. Perhaps there was alcohol involved.
Omg I love D'arcy so much. She's my idol. Does anyone have an update on her, what's she doing now?
Meth is a hell of a drug.
Chingona esta banda##1

Hummer has to be one of the best Pumpkins songs. Also, James's wrist on Geek USA!
@DogStarChampion Okay, in honesty I totally agree with you on Owata, thats one of the few SP songs I really find it hard to like. D'arcy looks so cool in this video
Billy looks like hes gunna cry when hes playing hummer. makes me sad
7:33 girls back then were hotter too
I just love the way she just thinks about smoking a cigarette hahahaha
i really love the pumpkins (see my pseudo), but I always found the time (tempo) was too fast geek usa live
everyone in the crowd has the same hair
Music back then was more colorful than the hair.
Fuck and then the intro to hummer!!!!! Come on man, it doesnt get any better than that!!!
crowd surfing and mosh pits. . brought to you by the 90's!
Daniel Tynan we still do that tho

Buy the bloody CD if you like them that much.
8:03 is a god damn thing of beauty

Discovering Hummer in 2023 makes me question my whole life.
1:32 gave me huge smile :)
Wtf?! Cut off during geek usa!
best album ever*.
fixed that for you.
Billy was so much more fun when he had hair. They were young kids riding a rocket to stardom...
@jlawton22 haha, that is why i said tribe instead of army, and plus t2 would want it that way :)

You just described Warped Tour 2013

What happened to Billys hair? :(
You, I like you.
