Yeah, unfortunately when i saw them on this tour..... I had a moment where i had, run across Billy on the sidelines of the arena £ he very much went out of his way to be a complete & total scunt to me for for waving in an attempt to say hello to him, which fucking crushed me at the time & i'm 120% positive he could see it in my expression. So I just waved at him again & screamed a nice loud Fück Yøu! at him as i walked away. I never forgot that stupid shit, but as much as i would have loved to break a brick across his face, I remained a huge fan & later that same night as they came out to do an encore...... Jimmy Chamberlain, who was & will always be my 1 & only main Drum Influence gave me a thumbs up as I shouted "Jimmy!!!!" as they walked by, up the ramp & onto the stage. After that, I felt totally redeemed. I've remained a mega fan throughout the years & not just of his music but, as a complete & totally under-rated lead guitarist. I mean, I have never seen someone take total control of the guitar like Billy Corgan. His ability to move around & take total advantage of the fretboard with more precision, knowledge & speed by far trump's that of any other player i have ever seen perform. I aspire & practice for hours everyday to hopefully, eventually become even half as accomplished. Unfortunately, when it comes to him on a personal level..... I go wit what I know & that's that he was an egomaniacal fucking prick back in 1994_

@Huxley Alec thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Yeah Billy's solo is awesome, but damn Jimmy Chamberlain!!! He's one of the few drummers in rock history that had as much to do with defining the band's unique sound as the lead singer or guitarist. Like Bonham, Peart, Ringo Starr even, his playing is just immediately recognizable and unique. This album came out the summer before my senior year and I spent half the year trying to play like Jimmy. Gish was great but this album put them in a league of their own. I weep for today's youth.
@@ddd1hhh I know I've seen BC rated in several top 100 guitarist lists, though I can't reference which ones. But obviously, popularity is more important on those lists than actual talent/skill.
Fucking D'arcy, what a trooper...always wearing heels. I wish she'd get her shit together so the Pumpkins can be whole again. I know Billy wrote and recorded the bass tracks, but she is still 100% part of the DNA of the Pumpkins.
Uh, for GISH and SD he played bass. She was part of the song writing process, though. She actually played on the other records and is still credited for Gish and SD anyway. What makes you think “she” needs to get her shit together? She may not be the problem.
@@AkathisiaWarrior You're delusional if you think she was a part of the songwriting process...either way I don't really care enough about this comment to argue over it.
Billy/SP was my inspiration to learn to play guitar - way back in 1995. Kind of a bummer for me to choose somebody like that to try and learn! 25 years later, I still play my guitars daily - and I'm absolutely nowhere near his level. Though to be fair, there are some things I can do with an acoustic (which is my main thing these days) that are quite a bit better than Billy. His acoustic strumming technique is kind of rigid and brash, and he has almost no fingerpicking/travis picking ability.
In about 100 years when we are dead and gone and forgotten this music will not be forgotten. The legacy this band leaves later future bands will be huge I suspect. Kudos Smashing Pumpkins!

This band was much more psychedelic than media people realized, with the flanged effects over leads that strain, then just bleed into superbly fuzz-overdriven riffs. They even dressed like a psychedelic band earlier on with the silks and such. At some point, the media tried to lump them into "alt-grunge," but in the earlier days, they were post-60s psychedelic. Beautiful, not a cell phone in the place. To be able to touch Corgan's Fender and feel the energy coming off that guitar while playing his solo must have been euphoric. At least we have the video to remind us of much happier times.
Guitar solo by Mr Corgan starts at 7:00 or so, but the vocals and the cello parts earlier are really not to be skipped over - even for one helluva guitar solo.
