I can see why you got arrested. People who pilot drones like this only contribute to the negative perception that the general public has of them. As a result a lot of pilots face confrontation from wannabe drone police any time they're flying one, even if it is 100% legally.

You should never fly directly above people or this close to people like this guy did. Ruining an incredible hobby for the rest of us.

AbeFilmMuncher yes there is, it depends on the drone you get. Some cheaper ones have just a couple of hundred feet range and will crash if they get out of that area. But thisone seems to have a good camera and a great working giblets to stabilize the video. So I guess this I a higher end drone. The drone wich are more expensive will most likely be able to reach about one mile or more. The newest ones wich you will spend around a thousand USD on will reach a mile easily and probably even get up to 3 miles if there is a clear sky with no moisture in the air. So range kind of depends on the price you pay for the drone. Hopefully I helped you out a bit. :I almost forgot to mention the the higher end drones will not crash if they lose connection. Instead they will go to a given hight, fly back to the take of point and land automatically.
