Bird attack on a drone by a Peregrine Falcon

- Bird attack! Unusual attack on a drone by peregrine falcon - nearly took the drone out of the sky. Fortunately the drone recovered and was able to be landed safely. Evasive action is usually to climb vertically but as the drone was at the legal ceiling height this was not possible.
Many years ago I was flying in a radio controlled glider race on the Pacific coast near Watsonville, CA. I was in the lead when a small falcon flew in next to the fuselage behind the wing. It kept reaching up with its claws trying to grasp the trailing edge of the wing. I would dive to get away because I was afraid if it got ahold it would change the balance and maybe cause me to crash. It stayed with my sailplane for at least four circuits. Afterwards the other fliers kept asking for one of the brood!
Why not just play the footage uninterrupted?
You will not be able to see what happened. Falcons to fast
Yeah doubt you would see much a peregrine dives at over 70 MPH
@@bw24summit it's a bird not a fighter jet what planet you on?
@@ashab1 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@ashab1 not the same one as you hopefully.
Dear GOD so much unnecessary editing! Just play the damn video!
Looks like a young one by the brown streaked chest, no doubt adults know better than to risk injury
Did it take down the uav?
I would think this would certainly qualify as an emergency situation justifying a departure from the max ceiling rule in order to avoid injury to the bird and loss of your drone. I wouldn't feel like another 50 feet or so in height to gain altitude on the bird temporarily to be unreasonable.
All that land and you hhave all these houses scrunched together? Wtf
Real
Farmland, probably green belt rented off a landowner.
i hope he/she didnt go in the blades!
Me too - but I doubt it as that would have stopped the rotors causing the demise of the drone
I would have just flown above the legal height limit. It's very unlikely that the police will detect that and even if they detected it's unlike they will fine for breaking the height limit unless there are aircrafts nearby
I hate drones too! 😂
ok grandpa
Hate that im the only one saying this. If a bird flairs in front of your drone, fly higher or lower and leave the area. Staying put such as you did only prolongs the encounter, allowing for damage to the drone and possible injury to the bird. Very irresponsible.
Would have liked to have seen this in real time with audio.
Avian predators really seem to have issues about their personal space....which they are under the impression is the wide open sky, as far as they can see.
You just know some falcon or eagle decided to go after a 747 at some point, and got owned.
poor bird, where are the ornithologists!!!
You constantly underestimate nature and what I can teach these things to do. Don't think just cause you can create a drone I won't find a way.
You should see if you can out dive him. 😃
😊😊
Birds are good at descending fast but not at climbing fast. Climb and go for home.
Even if you switched the drone off and it was free falling it will never reach what the Peregrin can do.
@@dave20thmay Free falling will be a lot slower than Sports mode descend. Yes, even that speed will not outnumber a Peregrin.
HA HA....I Fly HIGH just for this reason
How high are you going? I've been harassed by eagles while hang gliding above 8000'.
Be nice where in the hell do fixed income people get the money get real!
Save your pennies
C.G.I. Not real.
Bot comment. Totally not real
