If strangeloop follows any history, these devs streams seem to come come 2-5 months away from live release. No direct associated intel - just observation.
I seems that because each Town, Country, and Federation will be generating it's own Culture (at least as I've understood how its presented so far), there will be some degree of Culture Influence competition. Say for instance you live right in the middle between two towns (physically on the map). The one with the higher culture influence will likely creep and push farther towards the other town, allow the stronger culture to absorb you into their township and reap any taxes from you as a citizen, and visa verse, you'd get any economic incentives put out by the stronger culture town. Something like that.
I'm a bit scared of what comes out of it. All the competition and influence talk makes me think of powerful regimes grabbing huge amounts of land and forcing your small town into their nation and then taxing you hard.
In the game, you can select New Games and press the Browse All in the top right, then search for Dadspeed - be patient...it may take a minute for it to be found. If you don't see it, you can select Your Worlds, the Add Server using the middle of 3 icon at the top and either put in the current direct IP address of 135.148.150.86:3000 - OR - dadspeedgames.com which will always float with the current IP address, because the IP address does change periodically when physical servers upgrade. Both will work. We are on Version .9.7.8
I love getting these personalized Emails. I wunder, is there a sugjestions email, because i have a fiew small but quite qol changes that chould improve the eco experience.
Also another thing, your speculations on a sort of Farry boat are true, there where private video's on the Eco's main youtube chanel demonstrating a farry boat carrying over a steam truck.
i finde this game so intersting, but i just dont have the times, and or the firends ( i dont want to play on a poublic server that one day is just gone) maby one day! a video about solo player would be intersting!
Dadspeed is a great server for this exact reason, often going well over 150 days and being viable for new arrivals all the way through. Regular playthroughs taking 2-4 weeks means there's a lot of longevity there. This game is solo playable but you miss out on a lot of the fun if you're not contributing or competing with others. I'm a huge solo player, I'm slow, I minmax unnecessary details and because of that never fit into online games where everything is super competitive. Dadspeed is MADE for ppl like me, really worth giving it a try - if you think you might like it you 98% will
@ann02123 and @Arkh Couple thoughts for you (and purely a suggestion). You could find a long term public server. I'm obviously bias, but after search a long time, DadSpeed that I currently sponsor is about the best I've run across. It often runs about 5 months which is lots of time for the more casual semi-weekend player to come in dabble, enjoy, but not make that big commitment. Long term servers tend to be a slower roll and not this big push to some success point. The long term servers (like DadSpeed) often have a more occasional player-base, and welcome the person that only has time to play a couple hours a week. For folks that don't really like to interact or aren't coming in with friends, the solo experience on a public server is far more rewarding than the solo experience on a stand-alone instance. When you play on a stand-alone instance by yourself, really about half the game is lost - which is primarilty the economic aspect; which includes having a store and sell things, trading, transportation activities, picking up contracts for goods and services, the list goes on. The other part is the government aspect and having that dynamic even if your just a player and not a government person in the game. All that's just food for thought, but I like the idea of a solo video, because I could probably go over a lot of these differences I mentioned in more detail. :)
and if worst comes to it, run your own world.. sure it still needs internet to load up, but you can play on your own machine without anyone else... and settings can be changed as needed.. i usually run a 90 day meteor timer as a solo person....
had a thought for your next season. you currently have 4 settlements but 1 currency. what about 3-4 settlements and each one has its own currency and in order to trade with other settlements you need to convert the currency and that is where the government tax's mainly come from. each settlement has to tax for its own projects but a federal tax can be gathered from converting money and then used for other insentives and projects. just a thought. will probably join you when ur server resets
I hope the game devs CHANGE THE GAME NAME. "ECO" is just weird and ambiguous name. When we search "eco", mainly it will be "ecology" stuff. Not about this game.
well, this patch is garbage, they killed the land claim system, Now can't even spread further that that initial little spot you claim. worst shit ever.
Sounds interesting, can't wait to get back into dad speed.
Skaens! Good to hear from you!
what happened to the deer at 0:53
that city looks very unsafe
they have shown some of the dock blocks on the recent streams. They should be accessible on their youtube channel.
is there an ETA for 10.0?? seems like its going to be a chonker!!

up until now, no sign of 10. but seems like the end of this year(2023)
Culture as a "number go up" competition between settlements?

Boats would be great if it wasn't for the water...unless it's no deeper than a baptistry ;)

@@Oearth It sounds great and I did think about it a while ago, but I remember ping being an issue (I'm in EU), maybe I'll try again at some point

still waiting for 10.0 :((((((((
I wish I had Eco :(

yes. foreign currencies is interesting to see
what about farmers? that don't run their business in "population" and they do better away from towns?
It does make farming a little harder tbh. I can’t go set up multiple farms anymore
All speculations...
Well none of this works now
I hope the game devs CHANGE THE GAME NAME.
