so... this looks WORLDS better than the one week trial I had about a year ago... back then, there was no way I would consider replacing OnX with SF.... I hope you had em make sure the areas around you are well covered since I'm within an hour of you... might have to check this app out again...
I have the spartan forge APP and I listened to at least 2 podcasts if not more for those of you who don't the who guy created this software app and for those who don't this guy used track terrorists in the military very smart guy. I do love this it very useful for any hunters especially if a family and don't have a lot time hunt. Question when spartan forge going to start making hunting zones In Iowa? Also wish they start high lighting public land more. I know it's a new company so I am understanding. I hope you put Iowa on your priority list thanks.
Best gps app on market. I was or had it during beta and loved it. The recent updates are even better. Only thing i hope they do is yhe ability to go online on my laptop or desktop like onx does. When they create the web page onx will fall apart
I'm up for anything that doesn't include human intrusion. As soon as that happens everything changes. I have 2 areas covered within an hour of where u live. 7 spots setup in each location. The spots range from areas the deer will key on white acorns, escape routes by human intrusion & areas that a deer will use later in the season to cover more area in an efficient manner. A person needs to be able to recognize when the CONDITIONS will make a deer or group of deer move earlier than usual. That same hunter has to know that they should scout from a vehicle in a morning b4 the peak movement will occur later that afternoon. I have the best video footage of what could be possible on public land with no crops. The key is to capitalize on the right day rather than waiting for something later that never amounts to anything.
When is the update? I just checked my app and it says it’s up to date but I have none of these new features that your talking about in this video. My App Store says the app is up to date as well
New to the app everything looks great. Draw to the company was it being veteran owned! What’s is the ETA on the web map coming online so we can research via desk top.
On the current version if you tap the pin there's a "distance to pin" that draws a straight line to it and gives distance, and I just confirmed that on the development version that's slated to launch pretty soon, that icon has been changed to a "go to pin" which leaves the line on the map for you to use as a bearing 👍
I primarily hunt the state of Tennessee. I am giving the spartan forge app a second chance on the 14 day trial. I want to love this app but dang if it isn't a learning curve compared to the OnX app. I really want an app that will allow me to download offline maps with the autumn and winter months. There is no app with such feature. I thought with the Spartan Forge UAV feature it would allow that but there is no past UAV data that is available nor will it allow me to download the SAT 3 image which is close to having all vegetation gone so that you can view the area with no leaf's on the trees. The areas I hunt in TN I do not have cell service. Why can these app company's do something that simple with the current technology? I can go on Google earth and choose a specific month and year to look at the landscape with no foliage. Google earth does not have an app that you can download an off-line map that will show your location via GPS. It seems like as much as these guys hunt that they can figure this out For the App. Any recommendations?
Caching on your phone could work but is more risky and really more of a short term option. My understanding is that some of those terms are dictated by the imagery providers. Some allow downloading and other don't. Google Earth is great on the computer, though if I had to guess they're probably paying 10s of millions a year as I don't believe they own the satellites. At some point I do think there'd be the option to screenshot and load in your own imagery like you can on Google Earth, but I'm not sure when that'd happen.
Okay Garrett or Bill if I want to share way points does the other person need to Spartan Forge another thing I have problems with when I zoom in it gets blurry under 200 feet 🇺🇸
sharing en masse with easy will happen in our next update. if you email me your fixes where you are having imagery problems I'll follow up. bill@spartanforge.tech
If you copy the coordinates on the pin you can paste them in a text message and the other person can plug them into any app to then create their own waypoint at that location. But like Bill mentioned there will eventually be a more streamlined method of sharing pins and data with other SF users.
hey bud, what location are you in. depending on the area we have deer data we know we have to prioritize getting more. The pattern is the weakest part of the prediction. Movement is more accurate in more areas.
@@williamjthompsonjr Nebraska. The predictions was my primary motive for getting it. I already have On-X for everything else. If I had better confidence in the prediction portion, I would have made the switch completely.
@@Tjmead72 We have some upgrades coming in the prediction that I think you will like. When we announce them please reach out and I will reset your trial if you dont have the app.
Hunting gone to hi Tek and expense. Garrett is a very knowledgable man lots of respect for him. What happened to going in the bush and relying on your skills to find your prey?Just my opinion
I totally encourage all of that. Just trying to optimize online scouting so people don't sacrifice work or time with family. This app doesn't replace on the ground scouting.
On the ground scouting is highly dependable when it comes to like March. If u r doing it in September u r late to the party & ruining valuable hunting property for everyone. I spent the last few months already mapping out a buck that will be nice in 2022. I pretty much know by good scouting & terrain every step he takes by scouting @ the right time. 2 hunters last year screwed up during gun last season. So he still exists due to video evidence. I plan on sealing the deal long b4 the desperate people even enter the equation. I'm already fitting my root cellar with a refrigerator un unit.
What happened to knowing everyone's phone number or just simply knowing your way around town without GPS? It's just another tool in your box. You just need to decide how good of a mechanic you want to be.
I doubt that I would ever use the app, but Spartan Forge needs to spend more time on these features that you shared and less time on the deer movement prediction stuff. The historical weather, the notes with weather capture, trail cam pics with weather capture, the historical layers, etc…that is truly meaningful and this is the first I’ve heard of it. Seems like most if the time they are touting deer prediction nonsense.
As of two years ago that's all the company was. The mapping and journaling features were then added but not pushed last fall/winter as much because there were still many refinements to be made. With this latest update they'll now start talking more about the other tools present in the app in addition to the algorithm info.
Yes. You'd need to export your pins from OnX. It'll give the option for gpx or kml file type. Either will work. You can just save that file on your computer. Then on the Spartan Forge web map (not phone) you can go to the Content tab and hit the import button. Select the file and it should all show up. Waypoint name and text should come along with the pins but artwork and color will need to be adjusted after importing since that info doesn't transfer.
Yes, there is wind prediction within the weather forecast. In addition, you can look at a month by month historical windrose to see the most common wind directions and speeds in an area.
Im curious how to look back at the past on the app. For example, ive noticed a noticeable lull in deer activity the last 36 hours on numerous cameras, all in different areas. I wanted to look back and see maybe the pressure, the weather, the movement and pattern data etc… that may help me figure out, in my area, why that may be? Is there something i can do to see that or is that not possible? Thanks.
You can make journal entries for the specific locations and times to pull up the weather info for that snapshot in time, but you currently can't reverse the main intel screen to see the past few days listed for overall movement pattern and weather.

The update is available everywhere.

Tough to say when the exact ETA is, but I've been testing it, and it's been holding up pretty well. There are a few minor tweaks before it goes live.
Older video now. Just now trying this app out. Is there a goto option? With a a bearing pointer for navigation? Would be very useful if so.

@@DIYSportsman dude thanks. That will be a great addition. Its super valuable navigating in and out. I use it all the time on this other app.
Make sense for Canada, specifically SE Manitoba?
we have a Canadian version in the hopper.
The founder lived in Winkler for many years, we will get the Canadian version up soon.
Any ETA for the CDN version?

I don’t have the UAV in my area so it’s super blurry, I’ve been running Sat 3 by me as it is the clearest map to read.
Make sure you check the other maps by clicking the gear. Send me your area to bill@spartanforge.tech and I'll let you know when we may add it.
