    I can see that you worked your butt off to help us in our decision on which app to use for our hunting excursions. I am a turkey hunter from Arkansas, and I REALLY appreciate all of your hard work to produce this video. I am a dentist with a big family. I take my children hunting and your content has really helped me. I appreciate all of your hard work!!!

      Well thanks, I appreciate the feedback and support. I simply enjoy taking these deep dives and sharing what I find.
      Best of luck this season!

    Most folks who already have one of these might be hesitant to change having so much time invested (and obviously lots of Waypoints)! Myself, I have OnX and really like it!
    Excellent video...Thx!

      Agreed. But, all of the apps do offer a way to transfer the way points…but it’s still not a perfect system.
      Thanks for the feedback and support. Best of luck this season!

    I'd highly recommend looking into SF again or if possible a one year update on all! Thank you for all your hard work on this!!

      Up until a couple of weeks ago, SF didn’t have hunt units for all 50 states. That was a huge hole in the app. Hard to take SF seriously without that feature.
      My guess is later this summer I may do another evaluation of the platforms. Thanks for the feedback and support. Best of luck this season!

    Hey by the way your video editing skills are on point. With the list that stays on the screen, and a live view of the application in another window. Great work

    100% agree. I've contacted onyx so many times asking them to organize their icons for waypoints, and allow us to pick like a top five to put in a quick toolbar that just stays open, and it should automatically ask you what color you want whenever you click the icon, or default to whatever you use last. I could go on for days

      Agreed. I’ve noticed some recent upgrades but they should have evolved the waypoint menu a long time ago.

    One very key thing to look for is accuracy! I downloaded on X and walked my property line (not easy), and found it wanted to put my property markets really far off! There's nothing in the app to correct the location. I don't think they're accounting for the pole shift going on.

      Good feedback. Difficult to know who’s the most accurate based on a given situation and area. Best of luck this season!

    Very helpful, thank you! Tried BaseMap last year because of integration with my Sig rangefinder, but even now I can't get the layers working at all on my phone. And on the desktop, the property layers are out of date with several I know have split and sold over the last few years. I also don't see any indication of private land public access programs which here in Montana is a HUGE deal. Nearly 7 million acres of that here and the next closest state is WY with only 3.1 million acres

    Thank you for sharing this, I really appreciate your input on the features of these. I’ve been going back and forth between HuntWise and OnX for which one would be a more worthwhile investment, and have been trying out the demos of each but haven’t really come to a conclusion yet. I’m still new to hunting, but I’ve been stand hunting on the family farm a few years now, but I’m trying to start hunting public land and branching out to other game, like hog, but I’m lacking in the scouting department, so I’m not sure what to look for in a scouting app! I know overall it’s going to have to be a combination of actually going out scouting and mapping the topography for what to look for in an app

      Thanks for the feedback and thanks for the support! Both OnX and HuntWise are great…can’t go wrong. Best of luck in branching out to hunting public land and best of luck this season!

    Hmm, so far, I've found HuntStand to give things you said they didn't. In western states, I'm considering I've had no problem finding various gmu's. I've highlighted them, then highlighted public land, which they each other. They have an attachment layer that gives you waypoint info. I don't believe it's Eastern focused at all. IMHO.

    • @HuntDetail
      @HuntDetail  Місяць тому

      That’s great! As I try to point out, technology changes fast and a software update by any of these companies can make a big difference.
      In the past, one could only use 1 layer at a time…and…the GMU info was a mess. But, glad they’ve made improvements.
      Best of luck this season!

    I live in Ohio now but also hunt Elk out West. I’m always stuck between OnX and HuntWise. Only thing I like more on HuntWise is the ability to see a crisper picture when trying their trail version but end of the day I’m always going back to OnX.

    • @HuntDetail

      As another hunter from Ohio looking to start hunting out west, what’s your experience using the two? I’ve only hunted on family land in a stand, but I’ve been wanting to try hunting public land, have been going back and forth between OnX and HuntWise on the trial version, but I haven’t found anything on either, which now that I think about it is probably not right since it’s bow season.

    Thanks for this review.
    I am currently with Hunstand but the mobile app is so buggy and there is no slope angle feature.
    I tried Spartan Farge but it was lacking.
    I hunt a 4500 private lease and looking to make a switch to On X or now possibly Huntwise.
    Also, me an 2 other hunters enjoy sharing info and they both use On X and I don’t. Lol

    What’s the best app for property boundaries/public land? Don’t need all the fancy features…..

    • @HuntDetail
      @HuntDetail  Місяць тому +1

      Hard to say which one is the most “accurate”. But if you want to keep it cheap, I’d try BaseMap for $35 a year…assuming that’s still the current price.

    Curious which app has best property line reliability that you could use in court if needed?

    I wish these mapping software Companies and their promotors and reviewers would make it clear that their property boundaries are not accurate and are not legally binding. The mapping Companies use County Plat maps which are not accurate and are just estimates. I've tested the mapping software Companies property boundaries on my own property and found them to be sometimes hundreds of yards inaccurate. Most County Plat maps will say in fine print that the map is an estimate and not accurate and not legally binding. The reason the Mapping companies use them is because they are fee. The only accurate and legally binding property line source is a legal survey, and the surveys are not free. The surveyor charges for a copy of their survey. You may wonder why this is important well, in my state if you kill an animal on my land without my written permission you will be prosecuted for poaching no matter what software you are using. If you are hunting on my land without my written permission, you will be prosecuted for trespassing and attempted poaching no matter what software you are using.

      I'm using what the county has and don't give a 2 cents what your surveyor says. The county is who we pay taxes to to survey property lines, and those lines hold up in court. Gl getting a warden to back you up on this
