I knew the Cosgroves when I was a teenager from volunteering at a kid's charity with John. They were such lovely, wonderful people so I was completely shocked and heartbroken when, a few years back, I was looking to reconnect with John and this story was what I found. My heart goes out to these wonderful people; I cant think if anyone I've ever known who deserved this, but least if all John, Carolyn, Matthew, 'Sally' and Maureen. Rest In Peace Mr & Mrs Cosgrove.

@@1fan689, “To be fair” to whom? Mourning a father who gave into the voice of suicide is sad. However, which aspect of a man who fails to work even to provide for his children would convince you that he will make a great life partner?
I hope to GOD her father left a better legacy that would let his daughter know her value! I plead with GOD that her father’s example was far removed from the version of a “man” that lazy murderer displayed to that lady.
And what was the end result to such fairness, or enabling: that poor lady is without BOTH PARENTS!
So, again, what aspect of her grief for her father is interpreted as being “fair” to that begging lazy murderer?
Sorry for my blatant language, but the sympathy card simply does not work during this day and age of manipulative behavior that is spotted any and every time you view one of the hundreds of newscast, UA-cam forensic documentaries, and the new form of entertainment that shows COUNTLESS VICTIMS being swayed by manipulators.😢

When an adult child hooks up with a toxic personality it affects so many people than just themselves. That poor mother - the stress of some bum living in her space and refusing to find work and move out, getting her daughter pregnant when he couldn't even take care of himself. The fact that he was in his 40's and living with his mother was a huge red flag when he first met the daughter. She should have never let him move into her mother's home. He was pissed he was tossed out of the house and felt entitled to live in their home off of their hard work. The daughter is responsible for bringing this toxic person into the family. What a mess, the poor mother.

@@sdmsdm7926 Hear hear! Our elder daughter got involved with a similar worthless dirtbag, much older than her, with a bunch of kids, 'ex's', AND a new, younger partner at the time with whom he had a toddler. Very charming, very smarmy, ALSO Scottish, l might add, he managed to charm the socks off our daughter who had just split up with her then current boyfriend. The guy was a busker who had played and sung in our place (we own a bar/restaurant with rooms), years previously and had been very popular, He & his then partner (and their kids) had stayed with us off & on, and our young daughter must have been impressed by him. We lost contact with this individual for decades until my husband 'rediscovered' him on FB & more or less invited him along to sing in the bar again that summer. He came with new partner & toddler in tow, and, to our HORROR, immediately seduced our daughter who was living with us again after splitting up with her boyfriend. Of course, we knew what he was angling at - he was quite prepared to stay with us, appendages and all, while he sealed his relationship with our daughter, feeling quite at home & in no hurry to move out. My husband & l couldn't believe it, and spent the next year & a half doing everything in our power to get him out of our daughter's life. He hung in like a limpet, would not go away, and we were very afraid that he would get our daughter pregnant and ensure himself a free pass to our property (rather valuable at the time.) To cut a long story short, we finally phoned his ex and told her the whole story. She was obviously afraid of him & didn't want to get involved, but DID tell us that this was his usual MO to get himself 'into' places, and the best thing our daughter could do was to 'run like hell'!. Eventually, our daughter 'saw the light' after some dubious past actions of his became apparent, and we were able to 'rescue' her, but only after threatening to disinherit her and her storming off to live in another country for a few months. The guy still didn't desist until it was obvious she wasn't going to answer any more of his calls, and he ex partner had told him that we were involved and were 'onto him'. Fortunately, everything blew over and our daughter is now happily married to a very nice, hard-working man. Phew!! I feel for the Cosgrove family, and am sure that if Maureen could have had the support of her husband, none of this would ever have happened.

Men have a way of feeling extremely uncomfortable with other men who are bums, and will kick them out in the blink of an eye. These same bums tend to dominate and disrespect women and will linger around, refusing to take 'no' for an answer. As a mother who has been through TWO ordeals involving worthless bums who managed to get involved with one of my daughters, l'm just very glad & grateful that l had my husband by my side to help me with the task of getting rid of them. How on earth do they think they can make any move at all without it being captured dozens of times on cameras scattered all over the place. The daughter, Sally's innocence and the mother's acceptance of Sally's boyfriend living in the family home and also the lovely son, talking us through their distressing experiences. The mother could see through George but I think maybe the whole family should have sat down and discussed having a meeting with George. The mum was old and vulnerable and tired of her daughter's 'hanger-on'. Some victims say that murder happens to other people and wasn't meant to happen to them. Looking at this sad documentary I think that murder can happen to anyone and everyone.

Why are your Judges more concerned about the safety & welfare of Murderers, Criminals & illegal Migrants, over those of victims & locals .? So sad & tragic for the family. God bless the family and keep them strong.
The Murderer appear to be a useless Freeloader playing on Sally's emotion to win her love. Such evil & greed👹

The mum was still grieving the sudden loss of her husband. She was in a very emotionally vulnerable state. She was easily manipulated by her daughter. Suicide brings much damage to a family.

There's a lot I don't know about life in the UK, but 1 thing I definitely do know is the ubiquity of cameras. So many criminals there don't seem to know or remember that. This guy, case in point.
