Couldn’t agree more about ‘The Song Remains The Same’ album and film. Underwhelmed from the day I bought both. Currently listening to all my The Living End albums - a three piece from Melbourne, Australia who started as a raw rockabilly trio, got famous as a Green Day support act, & have become rock royalty in Aus. But don’t let that put you off - there’s so much energy and talent. Check out their 90s & 2000s output : State of Emergency, Modern Artillery, The Living End, Roll On, White Noise - their music just makes me smile every time. Cheers!
Hi Chris, me again. Some phenomenal records there. Wish I still had my SPUNK album, sold it many years ago. Tell you what I was listening to this week, The Walker Brothers, Make It Easy On Yourself LP. Forgot I even had that one, oh an just because I hadn't played it for years it's Eddie, Old Bob, Dick & Gary, and my daughter wanted to hear Swords Of A Thousand Men because it reminds her of her trips to the arcades at the seaside. I think I only played it about twice, there's one or two decent tracks on it. Anyway I'm babbling again. Cheers. See you on the next one.
Hi Chris, I agree with you about single live albums, especially those from the 70s. You played some great records look forward to see what you play next week. Have a good weekend.
I am not too familiar with any of those albums but I like some of the artists.. This week I have been working on my own inside an empty cottage so I have had my music on all week. Lots of Tangerine Dream this week. I got into them at a similar time to The Stranglers and those two bands have always been my favourites (though very different)..
Hi Chris. Katy Lied was the fourth Dan album, it was one that they were really dissatisfied with for some reason. I purged my copy of Women and Children First a few years ago, God knows why I did that. Just picked up another Jam album a couple of weeks ago, so now am just lacking The Gift - don't know if I've ever seen a copy. Still looking for Stop Making Sense too, was really annoyed a while back to see another collector picking up a copy from an antiques place in Wales that I go to from time to time. Cheers.
Really enjoying SDan of late and loved your recent video on Pretzel Logic. Not sure what my favourite album is. But I think Aja wouldn’t make my top five. Bit too smooth for me. Stop making sense is great. The guitar sound on that VH Lp is sensational. I love the gift. Quite different from the others but one of my favourites by them. Cheers James
Hey Chris there is a three record live album by Sabbath called Reunion. I have it and its new-ish , bought it two months ago, great live album from a Birmingham show. Well pressed too
how the west was won is a stunning live album, some great albums a few i dont know, need to check out the miles and santana album sounds cool, think i have the official release of live in london on vinyl, havent listen to any vinyl what with working getting in the way but CDs on my work journeys, some big star, bob dylan ( after seeing him live a few weeks ago still on a bit of a kick ), quo, reverend horton heat, grace slick, cheers chris
Oddly enough, I've been listening to Katy Lied this week. My love of SD was refreshed by James Griffith's wonderful review of Pretel Logic. Also the debut album from the 80s, Boston post-punk band O-Positive. I think you'd like that. This weekend will be the new Michael Kiwanuka album.
Will check out OPositive. Thanks for the recommendation! James’s video was very timely as I’ve been listening to their albums a lot lately. Might do a quick ranking vid. Cheers my friend, Chris
Hi Chris, Have you heard of Free Live? It's a single LP with some strange versions of songs, such as Alight Now. The bass playing on the LP is unbelievable.
I have that album. Andy Fraser was a great bass player especially mr big. Kossoff was a superb guitarist too. I think Free started well and just got duller. Having said that wishing well is one of my favourite songs by them. But the band was a different one by them. Pretty sure Kossoff doesn’t play on that song. Cheers, Chris
@@TheVinylOrchard Yeah, it's sad how Paul Kossoff got caught up in the whole drug thing, There is an LP called Kossoff Kirke Tetsu Rabbit you could check out, He was in pretty bad shape by Heartbreaker they got in a guy to fill in, sad, Cheers Gene,
There is also a double live Led Zeppelin from 1969 - At Olympia, Paris, which was officially released with the reissue of Led Zep 1. Also better than The Song... (which of course was parodied in Spinal Tap)

I love the choices Chris most of these I have but haven't played for a while! That's it tomorrow I will do some picks! 👍excellent video!
Cheers Ian. Might be this kind of video quite regularly. Cheers my friend

Don’t own anything by them other than one or two singles

Great to hear from you Steve. Hope all is well. Single live albums. Some good ones but so many are flawed. Cheers fella, Chris

Ie been playing loads of tangerine dream too. Video coming soon on them I think
I ended up playing my old crackly Paranoid album just for Planet Caravan, I'd heard it on a chill out CD without realising it was by Sabbath
Really interesting track. Very unsabbath

Sax player on Dr Woo was Phil Woods I think.

Agreed, Aja wouldn't rank highly for me these days.
@jamesgriffithsmusic My favourite songs by them are currently Reeling, Do it again, Black Friday, king of the world, don’t take me alive

Will take a listen. Cheers Mark!
I should qualify this by saying its not THAT much better than TSRTS.
my favourite van halen album, never did like steely dan
I have to be in the mood for them! Not sure what my favourite VH. Debut, fair warning or women and children
