    I will choose a single caliber (9x19mm) and two pistols with compatible (high capacity) magazines. Your HK selection is great. It could be CZ P10F + CZ P-09. Another combo could be Glock 17 + Glock 26.

    • @leverBoyluke
      @leverBoyluke  Рік тому +2

      Yes indeed I think that really simplifies matters to go with same mag compatibility and it’s always great to have a backup if your primary pistol goes down.

    My SHTF pistols are both 9mm. I 've chosen the Heckler & Koch USP compact and the Glock 19x.
    My reasoning behind these two pistols is their history of reliability in the past 30+ years. Also, with that USP compact in an apocalyptic setting, it delivers vibes from the movie Blood Diamond.

      Can’t ever go wrong with a USP. It was my choice as well.

      Great minds think alike. I chose a .40 Glock because I can swap out the barrel and use .357 Sig as well plus parts will be easy to find for it. My other gun is a full size USP because I decided I wanted something in .45 ACP. Both are very tough and reliable and shoot very well even if you don't always have time to clean them.

    I'm a big fan of conversion kits glock 22 40 to 9mm to 22lr and glock 19 9mm to 22lr to 22tcm9r ,but your right if you get in a fight the other person should have one the problem is if a member of your group doesn't have one.

      @leverBoyluke  Рік тому

      I’d love to be able to supply for my group but I’m not sure I’d be able to carry anything extra for group members IF we on foot traveling. The ammo going to be heavy enough as it is.

    Something a lot of people forget, is that no matter what brand you choose, or what configurations, in the end, the ammunition you feed it is self-contained and will perform the same, no matter what pipe it comes out of (with some very slight variations of course) but overall, it doesn't really matter. That Remington green and white box round couldn't care less whether it's shot out of a Glock, HK, Sig , S&W...

    • @leverBoyluke

      I agree and as long as that ammo goes bang in my guns I have no preference.

      To a degree yes but some guns won't take certain types of ammo, hollowpoints are a point of contention for several models of firearm and some ammo manufacturers have rounds that are slightly longer than standard to the point that the pistol will not properly seat and chamber the round. Something to bear in mind.

    If I had to pick only two, it would be my Ruger P95 (9mm) and my Ruger Blackhawk (6 Inch Single Action .357). Both are tanks and they allow me to be more flexible in the ammo department. Plus, the Blackhawk has been used by many hunters to put food on the table.

    G19, G23 is what I will take as it's all I have. Both are setup the same, same grips and grip tape, night sights and lights. Which means I have one holster, one way to clean them one way to train.

    Choice #1: A Glock with a conversion barrel, either .45 to 10mm or .40 to 9mm. You can use the same magazines in a pinch. Same striker/extractor/guide rod/springs so no need to swap anything out. I lean towards .40/9mm just because of the ubiquity of 9mm ammo and the slight power bump for the .40s.
    Choice #2: S&W 686+ .357/.38

    If you use the USP9C, you can use vp9 magazines as well. Allowing you to find more magazines for use as well as usp40c magazines work in them.
    If you get the USP9C, you can also utilize the vp9 20round mags which are more available to make you’re compact pistol a higher capacity

    You made sense in this video. I would like to think I could defend myself and my wife from gangs of marauders, but the reality is if my home was attacked by a gang I would be in deep trouble. Therefore, I would be using my Sig 320 and my Beretta PX4 Storm with high capacity mags. I am73 so heading out on foot is out of the question.

    FN Five-seveN for potential armor defeating and very high capacity and lighter weight and lower recoil (but reliability and ammo availability can be finnicky).
    SIG P226 Legion for reliability, durability, accuracy, night sights, good capacity, good ammo availability (but maybe not if I had to carry it everywhere).
    So as a third option, any quality 9mm polymer like Walther PPQ/PDP or HK USP/P30/VP9 or SIG P320.
    I believe what matters in such situations for a pistol is having high capacity, excellent reliability, sufficient power, a weight that's not too heavy or light, a size that's not too big or small, and just something you can shoot well enough with (as you say). I believe my above mentions fall into that sweet-spot (as do yours other than the .45).

      @@FL-Kman Yes, durability is excellent but reliability is finicky. You have to make sure the chamber is clean from casing wax or else you will get failures to extract and certain ammo, particularly SS195 might not extract either. I, and almost every 5.7 pistol owner I've known has at least had some FTE issues sadly.

    If I can only have 2 pistols for a SHTF scenario, it'd be...
    1. Glock 19: If possible, the Gen 5 since I was super accurate with my brother's Gen 5. However, I can only have a Gen 3 since we live in CA. My brother has the Gen 5 because he's a cop. I rented the Gen 3 but somehow I was not as accurate with it as my brother's Gen 5 because of the stock sights and maybe the finger grooves (that's debatable for me though since when I shot the Gen 3, my hand was still uncomfortable from rapid firing a Bersa Firestorm during that time). This one would be my appendix carry, thigh holster, or at the OWB on the hip. Also, I can make a Glock 19 be like a PCC with a CAA MCK with that 16 inch barrel provided in the CAA website.
    2. Bersa Firestorm: At least right now. I mean I'd want my second pistol to be super concealable as a back up and so far I've been most accurate with this. I have to admit, it's not very comfortable after 50 rounds in a row of firing it without rest since it's snappy and it has sights similar to a Glock's factory sights. I want to try the Sig Sauer P238 (again because last time I shot and rented the P238, that one had a stiff trigger while another P238 I dry fired in the gun store had a much more smoother and shorter trigger). This one would be appendix carry (if my Glock is not in the appendix carry), at the pocket, or at the ankle holster.
    The clothes I wear will dictate how I carry my firearms.
    Also, I love 45 caliber guns but I want guns I can still conceal and shoot accurately with since I want to be able to move around more while armed (.45 caliber guns I'd be comfortable with are 5 inch 1911 like my dad's Colt 1911), which are very heavy and not concealable.
    I'd like to try .357 revolvers since they can chamber 38 specials as well but I'd most likely get one that has a 5-6 inch barrel.
    My 2 rifles would be...
    1. AR-15 in 5.56.
    2. AR-10 or Springfield M1A in .308.
    [Originally, my plan was a Glock 19 and a Springfield XD9 Sub-Compact but the XD seems a bit too heavy for my taste just thinking about it now. However, maybe my mind might change again and consider this loadout.]

    Glad I'm not the only one who has put some thought into this "what if..." scenario. I have chosen the USP9c as a primary because I have 10 mags for it (8 between the 9c and P2000, and two 17 rounds from the P30), and a backup as my G26 (6 mags for it) in the off chance I came across spare mags alone because of the G26's ability to accept larger mags. But you are right I would just take the gun, but I like increasing the odds in my favor in coming across Glock mags.

  • @Joe5561000
    @Joe5561000 Рік тому +2

    If I was choosing two pistols for a SHTF scenario, I would probably choose two of the exact same make, and caliber because "two is one, one is none" I would probably take my Glock 19's (because I have a few, and I can work on them, and fix them if need be. I can probably fix them with non standard parts if I had to. Not only that, but there is a lot of them around, so if I need to find parts, it would not be hard. Even if the caliber is different most of the parts interchange.) The best reason for having two guns that share ammunition and magazines is not because one may break, (though that's not a bad reason) but so that you can arm someone else, such as your wife or child, if necessary, and share ammunition with them easily. I would also bring a .22 LR.(rifle would be better, but a pistol would work) The reason is for hunting small game, or if I need to be really quiet. It's easier to hunt for food then to try to carry everything you plan to eat. A .22 LR conversion for an AR-15 would work good for this, or just a light weight high capacity .22 pistol like the Kel-Tec P17. A suppressor would make this even more useful. The P17 is ultra-lightweight, come with 3 16 round magazines, and a threaded barrel extension for adding a suppressor. You can even mount a red dot type optic to it if you want. It's accurate enough to take small game such as squirrels, grouse, and rabbits, and is even able to take deer if necessary. Since they are less then $300 getting two of these wouldn't hurt either.

    Just out of curiosity, have you ever taken a Carbine course with your Mini-14 or AR-15? If not I would encourage you to do so. Get all the gear that you think will work together, and go take a GOOD two day carbine course. It's Eye opening! The same is true of handgun courses (most permit to carry classes don't count) I can't tell you how many times I though a piece of equipment would work, but when I put it through a course it failed miserably. A carbine course, or pistol course or competition are the only true litmus tests for gear and guns. So, if you want to know which gun to use when the crap hits the fan, take it to a really good training course or competition.

    Do you have a Beretta 92 FS or 92 G in your collection? If not you should. I think you’d love it, very similar to your Sig and HK being Da/SA with decocker. No collection is complete without the Beretta 92.
    For me I’d go with my Beretta 92fs with 18 round mags and my Sig p229 Legion. Both being 9mm guns. Though I do have some 3rd gen Smiths in 45 acp, 9mm ammo is smaller and far lighter than 45 acp. So if you were stuck with only the pack on your back you could carry far more 9mm than 45 rounds. Just something to think about. Also I think the 9mm is more common than 45 acp so if you managed to stay alive you probably could find it easier.
    Ps: that p220 looks awesome with those wood grips.

    It's a shame that .40 S&W has fallen out of favor. A pistol in .40 and a spare 9mm barrel for it could make use of either pool of ammunition. My two choices would be a Beretta M9 because John Woo movies and a shaker of Old Bay spice blend so when the cannibals get me, at least I'll be well seasoned.

    I carry a Sig P365 or a Ruger LCP Max daily here in the real world during these relatively “decent” and “stable” times, but for pistols in a truly apocalyptic type situation I’m straight back to my Glocks even though they’re a little bigger and heavier then the Sig and the Ruger, Lol.

    I have plenty of revolvers and semi auto pistols in 380, 9mm,40, 45 ACP, 357magnum, one of those calibers would probably be the sensible choice for a SHTF sidearm , but I have one 22 rimfire pistol a SiG P322 and whenever I decide on one of my centerfire handguns
    is the ultimate carry weapon, I always gravitate toward the theory that that SIG 22 pistol would make the best one of all, because it is so light that fully loaded and carrying 2 extra magazines it feels like it weighs nothing plus I could carry hundreds of rounds of 22 ammo without any effort, but I would hate to find out later I picked the wrong one

    Looks like we almost agree again. For me It'd be a 9mm and a .45. The reason being is ammo scavenging. In the U.S., if you're not finding 9mm laying on the ground, you're finding 45 acp. I'd take a Glock 19 and a Glock 21. Good video.

    So what are the circumstances? Bugout on foot? Bugout in a vehicle? A combo of the two? Bug in? If bugging out where are you bugging out to? If your doing 1776 stuff 2 pistols would be overkill especially 2 of the same pistol.
    I conceal carry my duty pistol when im not on the job and thats a p226. Ive probably put a good 20k rounds through it and its still going strong. Also really not that difficult to conceal.
    If you're dead set on doing 2 pistols id do whatever your primary is plus a heavy caliber revolver. For me for instance i live in bear country so i have a .44 mag because im not confident in a 9mm to do the job adequately on an 800 pound angry grizzly. Of course ive known people toget by with .357 mag just fine with the right bullet weights and loads. Again though the devils in the details and curcumstances and inentions are going to be the biggest driving factors.

    If only 2. Rather have 3 but okay, 2 it is. Primary would be my .45. It is just one of those handguns that I really don't need to aim. With it, I'm petty much going to hit what I'm looking at out to about 50 feet. I have and have had quite a few guns, but very few handle like this one. It's also my EDC. I also have 2 9mm's and a 380 that handle the same way. and I really thought I would take my .45 and one of the 9mm's. But in a SHTF situation, what if you have 2 or 3 or more targets and you have to shoot behind you while you duck and run? It's good and real possibility. For this reason and only this reason, I think my 2nd choice would be controversial, But I would want to increase my odds of making it out. So I think I will take my Taurus Raging Judge , that I originally got just for the fun of it. But thinking in this type of oh shit situation, yeah it might only hold 6 rounds but with buckshot loaded it increases your chances.You could say a gun like that could have your 6.
