'Rising Damp' predates - and wipes the floor with Friends (IMO.) It's brilliantly written.
Alan is played by Richard Beckinsale. Dad of the actress, Kate Beckinsale. Died far too young aged 31 😢
Yes I know! So sad :(
Glad you like British humour. Your videos always cheer me up ❤
Cute too! 😘
She's 50, but looks a couple of decades younger.
And his other daughter, Samantha Beckinsale too, from London’s Burning!
😊😊😊😊😊😊 ,These are still brilliant 50 years later the dialogue is still clever, witty and sharp ,so good. ❤❤.
Oh I absolutely agree!
The best ITV sitcom ever.
@@alanmackie7012 Do ITV cut it when they show it?
It's good to see you're really "getting" Rising Damp now. I think you were a little dubious the first few episodes. And the good news is, the comedy gets better and better as the series progress.
Hi Megan. Hope you are well. Just to tell you, from someone who grew up in the seventies, life was so much simpler, and a darn sight better then, than what it is now. I should know, I WAS THERE. X
Hello! I can only imagine... :)
Many landlords just walk in. I had one who knocked as he walked in. When I mentioned that to him, he claimed he was in the right because he knocked!
Didn't you try locking your door?
@@SamuelBlack84 There was no lock on the door of the room I rented from him & he wouldn't allow me to have one.
@@RobertTaylor-gz2fu Immediate red flags there
If somebody tells me I can't do something, I immediately do it
@@SamuelBlack84 If I'd fitted a lock (which would've been difficult because the door was hollow), he'd have ripped it off, thrown it away & probably evicted me as well. Lodgers have fewer rights than tenants.
Watched this Growing up in the 70s , and never get tired of repeats, Golden age of TV , unlike today.
Loved this Megan!. Rising Damp is amazing. God bless Richard Beckinsale, what a great actor. It’s sad he left us so young, especially when you think what he might of gone on to achieve. Ronnie Barker loved him a lot and was really upset as Richard’s passing,
I hope you do more Rising Damp reactions,
Take care!
It's a great episode. Loved the reaction. Valerie Singleton (still with us at 86) was famous then as a former Blue Peter presenter, who at this time presented The Money Programe, hence the mention of her "shopping basket", it was a measure of inflation. There was a lot of that at the time.
The hippy looking man with the long hair is Richard Beckinsale as in Kate Beckinsale farther. He dies young but left a big impression on her life.
For more of Richard Beckinsale see Porridge. a very good comedy.
12:44 In most cases, a first date isn't followed by a second.
In my case, there's not even a first date 😂
Thanks Megan.
This show never gets old 😂
😅 Absolute classic Megan ! Totally agree it's one of the best Rising Damp episodes, Leonard Rossiter was brilliant & your reactions creased me up ! Keep them coming 👍 👍👍❤
Thank you!! 😊
"Pseudopodia". That's how amoebas get around. The greatest teacher I ever knew taught me that when I was 13.
Hi Megan, glad to see you are still enjoying Rising Damp. I haven't seen this episode for ages, so thinks for sharing. There are still lots of great episodes to come and you haven't seen my own personal favourite episode yet either. I think it is in series 3.
By the way I used to know a woman who claimed to really like it if a man blew in her ear. I am not sure why she was telling me though, we were just work colleagues. LOL I do speak French however so be careful LOL Take care.
Hello! Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction :) I'm looking forward to watching more!
Very interesting! I guess different strokes for different folks aha thanks for the warning! 😆
The actor who played Sandra's father is George A. Cooper, a very well known character actor at the time. He was in one of my favourite sitcoms when growing up--Billy Liar from 1973, not well remembered by many now. As for Rising Damp, it is as sharp and well acted now as it was back in the mid 70s.
Funny, I was thinking the same thought about them just barging into each others room without knocking. Artistic licence I suppose. When I've been invited to an office say, I would knock on the door, even if it's open!
There's no incentive for a man to marry. The risks are huge & there's no upside.
It serves no purpose, whether male or female
Just like having kids
Always sad when Ruth has to have the blue glasses on....
My all time favourite episode is still to be viewed, no spoilers, can’t remember the series and episode number. Loved this reaction too
The episode list is on IMDb & Wikipedia.
Yay, it's awesome to see you're still doing, and enjoying, the wonderful Rising Damp! Going to catch up on the reactions I've missed. :) The "I know where the Himalayas are..." line is one of the most classic and hilarious lines ever written for a sitcom comedy! 😂 The late great Richard Beckinsale wasn't with us long, but he left such an indelible mark on the entertainment world during his short time here. 😔
Your sweet smile brightens my day 😊
Absolute classic series. Glad you are enjoying
Who's Veronica Lake?
I have the same reaction as Rigsby if some young person says, Who's Ricki Lake?
You should watch some classic British movies. He mentioned Greer Garson in this episode. There is not a movie more British than her Mrs Miniver. You will love it.
Another great reaction Megan, keep these coming, there are some great episodes in series 2!🙂
Thank you! I'm looking forward to them 😊
BTW, the ' blowing in the ear' was slightly different back in the day. It was more a reference to lightling bitting on the ear lobe in passion and whispering in their ear ... rather than just blowing :)
The great Frances de la Tour and Leonard Rossiter.
The comedy timing is superb.
some mothers do have em is very funny
Sevennn erogenous zones... noted ... Dont blow in Megan's ear... noted ... Dont go into Megan's room during the night... noted ... Do whisper in Italian or French in Megan's ear... definitely noted ! ... 😀🤣👍 ... Great reaction Megan, best episode yet, enjoy your weekend
Just can't beat real comedy 😅
And best sense of humour
Miss Jones does become Rigsby's wife in one of the later episodes.
Although they never get married.
They plan to marry, but never get to the church.
Considering they are meant to be students..they have plenty of tins of Heinz!..Not cheap now..or ever were.
Blow in my ear and I'll follow you anywhere, I believe may come from Rowan and Martin's Laugh in.
Have had your hair cut use like riseing damp found it funny
I like your reaction videos Megan. If you can please go hard onto RED DWARF it is superb but really gets going into season three.I recently saw your vlog when you were in Brighton.I hope you understand that I think you are a intelligeant woman, but god you have a fantastic beautiful body,
🎉
Are you ok, Megan. ? You look tired.
the comedy would not have worked if he would have knocked now would it
