Hi everyone this guy explains it very well. But the only error is that he says to press and trunk and lock buttons. That's not true. You only hold the lock button. And wait until you hear the doors lock. On both remotes. When the set is activated for programming. It only can have two remotes.
So if you want to add remotes you must add another keyless remote module in order to have more remotes. But keep your stock remote.
These cars do have security features that required the stock remote(s). So if you don't have one. Buy at least one. Buy it online. Due to it can disable your engine. Until you get a new remote.
Those who don't know. If you are sitting inside the car, and lock the car with the remote. Then manually unlock the door with your hand. You can disable the engine. To enable hit the unlock button on your remote, and open the driver door. Then the engine will be able start with the key.
If dome light switch is broken on driver door. Replace quickly due the security features. They are about $10 at car dealer.

If you reach under that bit of trim by the pedals you can feel and see the switch, no need to even touch the radio or remove the panel, and yes only two codes can be programmed unless you see dealer.
    Cheers

Lol, I just got a fob of Ebay for my 04 Sonata. Was going to try this myself, having a friend do it. Seems straightforward, but may take it to BestBuy and have my other stereo installed and do key fob at same time.

    Procedure
    1. Remove the lower crash panel (usually the piece of trim below the steering wheel & above the pedals) and locate the Remote control receiver unit. If it is not there, try behind the small piece of trim in front of the door opening (often referred to as the kick panel).
    2. The switch on the side of the unit should be switched to the SET position.
    3. Press the Door lock button or unlock button on the Transmitter quickly.
    4. Return the switch to OFF position and then test remote control.
Programming remotes on 16 pin OBD Systems
    Procedure
    1. Locate the small black box below the steering column for remote function.
    2. Remove the small piece of tape to uncover a hole with a switch inside.
    3. With the ignition on, move the switch to the SET position.
    4. Press the button on ALL remotes needed for the vehicle.
    5. Return the switch to the OFF position.
    6. Switch off the ignition and test all remotes.

my 2005 2.9 terracan seems to have the same box.
the cover has the cutout for the switch. and the board seems clearly marked for it to be soldered on.
Tried with alligator clips to act as switch. but couldn't get it to work (only have lock/unlock). might be bad contact with clips, or need more than two pins shorted together.

To program a key fob for a 2004 Hyundai Sonata, you can follow these steps12345:
1.Insert the key into the ignition of your Sonata and turn the key to the “On” position.
2.Hold down the "Open" or "Unlock" button on the keyless entry FOB until the vehicle's lights flash.
3.Alternatively, you can enter programming mode by removing the dashboard fascia and locating the alarm system control module3.
4.Program the remote by depressing and holding the “Lock” or "Unlock" button on your remote for one full minute24.
    5.Program additional remotes if necessary.
    Exit programming mode.
    Test remotes.

Followed the procedure, pretty clear and good. Couldn't see or feel any switch. I removed the box entirely and lol no switch, not even tape. Hyundai obviously wants us to go to the dealer. However on the circuit board, on the reverse side if you pull it out, you will see solder points marked OFF and below SET/ SAVE CODE. So the switch toggles between these two points. There are six smaller solder points between the OFF and SET solder points. All of this is in a white area of printed circuit and it is difficult to see which one connects to which when the switch is up or down. With a picture of a switch and seeing what it connects to on either position it would be easy to program the box without a dealer assistance. Does anyone have a picture of a switch on the circuit board in either position so we can just emulate it? Thanks.

Good news: keyless entry module without the SET/OFF switch? There is a way to reprogram them and make your key fob work!
You will find elsewhere how to reach the module for a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. The instructions you get you get for fob reprogramming require that you set the switch on the module to SET for programming and then to OFF after successful programing. The problem is that on many Hyundai models, the module does NOT have a SET/OFF switch and you must go to a dealer or a key shop capable of programing your new ( or used) fob at a cost of $75-150. There is a way to do it yourself, for free. I will not repeat the steps to access the module, located behind the center fascia. Once you remove the fascia and can see the module, follow these steps:
    1) Pull the module out (you may have to break the bond to the bracket (you can glue it back to the bracket afterwards. I did). Then disconnect the antenna and white connector. You should then be able to pull the module, a black box, out of the vehicle.
    2) Check all sides of the module. If you see a SET/OFF switch, of course you can follow the instructions given elsewhere. However if you are reading this, your module does not have that switch. So:
    3) Carefully open the module and very carefully pull the circuit board out. Be careful not to break anything, or scratch any “printed” wire or solder point.
    4) Locate the area on the back of the board (should be a whitish background), where it say Switch, SET and Save Code, etc. That is where the switch was before Hyundai removed it to force us to go to a dealer for reprogramming.
    5) Now, very carefully connect the four leads (solder points) - two by two - that the switch would connect in the SET position, if the switch was there (see picture). You should do so with two short and thin strands of copper wire (one for each set of solder points), after you strip the strands from a normal wire. Hold the strands onto the solder points with tape.
    6) Carefully place the circuit board in the area behind the center fascia and connect the antenna and the white connector to the circuit board. Make sure the board does not touch anything, especially metal. You may place a rag or some plastic shield to protect the circuit board (I didn’t, I made sure there was no contact).
    7) Make sure the antenna wire and the white connector are plugged in.
    8) Now turn the ignition on and follow the steps to preprogram the fob given elsewhere for the lucky ones that have a module with a switch. You are now in the SET positions of the switch.
    9) You may not hear any sound or notice anything while the programming is being done (I didn’t). When you finish the required steps, turn the ignition off (last steps actually).
    10) Disconnect the circuit board (antenna and connector) and remove from vehicle.
    11) Remove (again carefully) the tape and the copper strands (you are now in the OFF position of the switch)
    12) Reinstall (carefully) the circuit board on black box (module)
    13) Connect module to antenna wire and connector and reinstall module in car (you may have to glue the side to the bracket on the drivers’ side of the console).
    14) Replace the fascia after connecting all the instruments.
    15) You are done.
You new fob should work like a charm I did for me. I was actually surprised that it worked. It has been a few weeks and it works perfectly. The fob I reprogrammed I had bought used on eBay for a few bucks (genuine Hyundai, but theoretically the method should work with any other similar fob/aftermarket).
    Good luck.

That is so weird!! There has been a couple of people who have said that.
Before I start any video, I go to the junk yard and tear apart the cars to see how to complete the task the easiest way I can figure out (not the only way, and it may not be the easiest way either, but it's just how I figure out how to do it by repetitive inspection).
Anyway, that being said, I tore into 5 vehicles that day, not including my own, and all of them had a switch with no tape. It is so weird just because you are like the 4th person to say that. So I would suggest, pulling a box from another car...or you would have to take it to the dealer. Sorry about that.

@@ceplure4421 That's the thing I love about the IM-608pro scan tool by Autel but they're also roughly $3300-$4000 depending on where you buy, relationships you've built with your scan tool supplier. I use www.AESwave.com and have been for about 6yrs now.
I will say the more you buy at Once the better a deal you can get which is good as you can save some money done properly. I've probably spent enough there over 5-6yrs to buy a new or slightly used SUV with bells and whistles. All the while I still drive my 04 Tahoe base LS trim model, rusting wheel fender wells w/130k miles and am now working towards replacing that. If I had shop space as a mobile guy I'd buy a 12-16 SUV wrecked and rebuild it myself and save some serious $$$$.
