yet i think they only should make mrx final boss in 2nd scenario or even put him only in 2nd scenario but make him appear more
like in Claire scenario u can only meet mr x at heli wreckage and at room where u pick tool to move library shelves and parking lot
and fighting super tyrant after fighting G Birkin in his prime is kinda weird
imagine that in re3 u fought grave digger after destroying final nemesis boss

I sort of disagree but understand what you mean. As he acts more of a pursuer in 2 and nemi acts like a beefy goofball (remake). But nemi was specificity made/trained/programed to hunt down STARS members and is nicknamed the pursuer because he technically stalks you all game. At least trash bag suit nemi does and attacks when he sees he may have an advantage. But nemi is FAR smarter than Mr.X, x stays inside the station because he knows the player (a survivor) is alive in there and he was sent before the bomb announcement and after neni to basically clean up anyone who may be surviving. You also have to remember that when the virus leak occured and that umbrella facility fell they used those monsters as field test material.

I think what I hate most about REmake 3 is what they did to Jill and Nemesis.
Jill used to be a soft, cute and empathetic go getter who could still kick your ass if she had to, but now she's just a one dimensional take no shit tough girl and Nemesis used to be a terrifying threat that you dreaded around every corner, now he's just a joke, literally every character in the game that takes him on treats him like nothing, to Jill he's a "creepy ass stalker" to Carlos he's a "fuckface" and to Mikhail, he's a "shitbird".
I'm actually worried about how they're gonna treat the characters in REmake 4.

    • @inscription8099
      @inscription8099 2 роки тому +9

True I think Jill's character could have been better but I actually thought the gameplay was addictive. I enjoyed the actual game more than RE2, although RE2 was much more tense and survival horror based. I loved Carlos though, and the two Russian guys, really good characters. I did warm up to Jill when she rolled back through the gate to buy them time. I thought that was when she kind of walked the walk instead of just talk the talk.

    • @ZeroOhNine
      @ZeroOhNine 2 роки тому +18

Absolutely agree. I don't like Jill's personality in R3make. I love every other Jill that came before this new version though. It doesn't help that I can't think of this Jill as the same one that survived the mansion in REmake or got saved by Chris in RE5. There's this huge disconnect that shouldn't be there in the first place. Same with Claire in a way (REV2 and REmake/REimagining 2). Makes me dread to know how they're going to change characters in 4 REmake.

The 3 biggest problems with RE 2 & 3 Remakes are:
    1. the subtraction of contents, instead of a bigger richer new contents, making it simply a much shorter game experiences.
    2. Replayability is not effective enough.
    3. Adding wasted games/modes riding on trends, such as REsistance & RE: Verse. Both are basically dead games & wasted budgets because the half aseing the development & supports.

And yea RE2Make is much scarier than the original…. Because of the lighting and how aggressive the zombies are in it. You could cheese everything so easily in the original, it’s much harder to cheese the enemies in RE2Make, and Mr X was much more intense in the remake as well.

There was basically no opportunity to learn from launch of the previous game and it only magnified the flaws they both shared. Hands down to this day Resident Evil 1 remake is the best example of a remake, the 2019 version of Resident Evil 2 and then Resident Evil 3 I don't really see those as remakes I see them as re-imaginings. And I also agree that with Resident Evil 2 2019 A scenario is the only one you play because be was so lackluster. Resident Evil 3 is my favorite out of the original trilogy and I did not like how the new game turned out so I don't know how I feel about the Resident Evil 4 remake..

    • @LegionGaming22
      @LegionGaming22 2 роки тому +1

A remake is literally the remaking of the exact content previously made and not a single remake out there does this so remake isn't even a relevant name because they are all reinvisioned games of their previous made game and are able to do more with the newer tech available today so there isn't honestly a true remake out there. Every single one has been changed in multiple ways meaning it cannot be called a remake

Lol), it was beautiful it made me feel like this is exactly what resident evil is, but it didn’t carry that throughout consistently, the re1 remake did that though for me in terms of atmosphere and monsters so that’s why it’s above that one only and yes that includes it being fixed camera angles and all it worked for me…And I’d hope *fingers crossed* that we can get a remake over the shoulder style re1 for next gen and pc that would be fucking amazing IMO of course if they did it right this time and not leave ANYTHING OUT

The RE engine is really awesome and I really enjoy every game that has used it, but I really prefer 3rd person over FPS so I like RE2 and 3 remakes significantly more than RE 7 and 8. I have 5 problems with RE2 remake alone:
1-The new "A/B scenarios" being too similar to each other, even when compared to the original ones.
2-The best cinematic (in my opinion) of the original RE2 game was cut in 3 parts, including two missable VHS tapes. I'm talking about Birkin injecting himself with the G virus and slaughtering the USS team led by Hunk.
3-The game was censored in a annoying way, no explosion of body parts when you use the rocket launcher (just flying mostly INTACT burnt bodies).
4-Too much things from the original game were removed/modified in a not so good way.
5-Capcom lied about the difficulty of the remake supposed to adapt to our gameplay.

Capcom changed alot scenes to create a different experience. It helped alot for newer gamers. But, I've played the original game. The OG will always be the best. But, the Remake Definitely improved some of the outdated gameplay, dialogs and character's. Alot of the characters had zero development back then. Having this new game improving all of that! 1. The remake was never meant to have any 1st/2nd scenarios, but rather was a change done at the last minute in order to add a bit more replayability. Most people that worked for the game were even surprised by this sudden unexpected change as well since the game was supposed to have a similar narrative that RE1 followed for its plot.
      2. Pretty much as a result to #1's response.
      3. The game is already gory as is. This is just a matter of nitpicking.
      4. Remakes don't have to be the exact same as the originals or become follow-up changes that stick with the same outdated controls/gameplay. It was mostly marketed as a reimagining anyway. Plus, its cut content wasn't half as bad as RE3 Remake's case.
      5. Actually, they didn't. The dynamic difficulty mechanic adjusts based on a combined ranking with the amount of damage you take, how bad or good your accuracy is, and the amount of enemies you kill along the way, along with many other factors iirc. It's much easier to track if you own the PC version of the game and use the ultimate trainer that can measure how the dynamic difficulty adjusts to your gameplay.
While it does have its own flaws, it is still overall a great game. Same with RE3 Remake, though that game went through twice the amount of cut content than RE2 Remake, making the game unnecessarily much shorter than it needed to be.

I've heard from other videos and posts and even the devs themselves calling these 2 games as "re imaginings" but then, others say remake. Which I think, plays a huge role in how we view these games and how they hold up to the OGs. I find myself more so leaning into re imaginings the more I read up on this topic instead of remakes. If their decision was a re imagining, than I'd say they did a good job (i guess?), if they were trying to go with remakes, than they failed where re1 remake succeeded. I think the main issue is, they're trying to get away with doing both options and that's why reviews are so varied, even divided. Re1 remake added, expanded and explained from the OG. The new re2 and re3 didn't do all three, maybe cleared up a few inconsistencies and new game design. But not much else.
    Sorry, bad at explaining.

@@gunnars367 Well problem is how people view the Terms, Remaster and Remake. Id qualify a Remaster as having about 70-90% of the OG version with updated visuals and mechancis and 10-30% new or different stuff, new arears, areas reworked, etc. ReMAKES on the other hand have only at most 50-60% of the OG material and the rest is pretty much brand new.
So by that qualifier RE1 for Gamecube is a Remaster, since its only about 10-15% off the OG version. Even RE2 is a Remaster in that regard, as Id say its between 70-80% the OG. Now RE3 yes WOULD classify as a Remake because other than a few pieces and plot points most of the locations have been severally changed/altered.
Now a Reimagining IMO is taking a concept and putting it in a ENTIRELY different setting. Example would be Ken Levine taking the ideas from System Shock 2 and instead of being on a space station putting it in a 1960s city thats on the bottom of the Ocean, aka Bioshock. AKA a Re imaginning is a Elseworlds version of a IP.
Like Id consider RE7-8 Reimaginings of the players and way things work in the RE universe. Yes I know its a supposed continuation, both numbering and supposed to continue from 6s story. But it is SOOOO far from other REs that I see it as a Elseworld version.

Yet people will complain if it is too similar and then complain if it is too different. Too many little aspects of a game add up to where people start saying everything about the old games is iconic and cant do without it in a remake. If that isn’t nostalgia then idk what is. I came from playing the classic trilogy and I much prefer the newer remakes. The remakes have an identity of their own while still being familiar, which is what a good remake should be.

RE2 remake had the potential to be another RE1 remake, but it missed in:
    1. The soundtrack: they had this whole "modern = quiet" mentality that didn't work. RE was always a music heavy franchise to fill in the silent gaps.
    2. The incoherent timeline: forget about leaving an item for the other scenario to pick up. You fight Birkin G3 on all 4 scenarios, Mr. X is killed by Birkin on both Claire paths but we still see him with Leon, Annette is always present at the G3 fight.

RE and RE2 were simply amazing games when they came out. The re-imagined 3 isn't as good because the original 3 just wasn't as good as the first two games. I have no idea why people so love RE4 though. I played it after playing the 2&3 remakes and it's truly when RE moves towards action and gets caught up in the world of QTEs. It's still a good game but it's a turning point in the series and 5 is a logical next game after that as is 6 which is the biggest mess of the franchise.
The current games (RE7 and R8 - Village) are in many ways love letters to RE2 and RE4 and I'd take Village (which very much bows to 4) over the original RE4 any day of the week. It's just better and far more cohesive than 4 ever was in everything from story to gameplay to scares.

Agree, I'm currently playing RE remake as my first Resident Evil game (I did play some of RE 4 on PS2 with my brother as kid but my brother finished it, since I was too scared to play) and my god, it's actually addicting to play the fixed camera angle. Before Resident Evil I used to play Onimusha series on PS2 and there's just something so special with the fixed camera gameplay style in horror game. Would be nice if Capcom returns back to the classic gameplay style for remake of lesser known RE game like Dead Aim and Outbreak.

The main thing is that the remakes weren't really designed to be anything like the originals imo. It's almost counter-productive to compare the two as odd as that sounds. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why they would remake either game without improving upon them as much as they could. And it's because they were never designed to do that. Primarily they were experimental and distractions to keep us invested until Village, but they were also a way to introduce the past to a new audience who wouldn't bother comparing them to the originals. Despite them also being made for fans of the originals? It's confusing, but that's the gist I think lol

I’ve been a loyal fan of the series since ‘98 and I don’t understand people hating on the RE2 remake. Yeah, they messed up the A/B scenarios and removed some content, but the game is still amazing for its atmosphere and gameplay. They made zombies scary again! In 2019! After zombies made their way into pretty much anything. And I actually appreciated the fact the game wasn’t a 1:1 recreation of the original like RE1make, a game that made feel guilty for spending 50 euros (or whatever it did cost back then - I am talking about the original GC edition) for essentially buying the same game I had already bought twice (RE1 and the Director’s Cut - the Dual Shock edition was never released over here), only with prettier graphics and some tweaks. RE:2 felt like a new game in that regard, and that’s what a remake should be. While it is mostly enjoyable, I get why fans are pissed about RE:3, as it is not the remake the original game deserved and I had some issues with it myself. But even that game, with all its flaws, is better than anything Capcom made from RE4 to REV2 - RE7 is nice, although it is not a real RE game…and I am still trying to forget that VILLAGE exists. What’s crazy for me is that a lot of the people complaining about the latest remake are mostly part of the RE4 crowd, who hail that game as the finest in the franchise despite being the one that killed both the original narrative AND the original gaming style (I was all about RE getting an upgrade after playing RE0, the most stagnant game in the series at that point, but turning it into an arcade shoot ‘em up was not what I had in mind).

My favorite game will always be the OG RE2. To be frank, I always prefer the gameplay mechanics of the “re imagined” games but as you said, the magic and charm is what makes the OG games stand out, not the graphics and sound design. Also the level design doesn’t need to be complicated to be better, Ala RE2 OG but it still had a better atmosphere and tone with how it capitalized. The remake made the sewers harder but the OG sewers were better; and as far as the lab is concerned, the industrialized feel of the OG version was superior overall than the clean business oriented lab in the remake. The overlapping boss fights make the story confusing because it's not possible for Claire to fight the same boss in the same place as Leon did and vice versa. The only thing the A and B scenarios do correctly is give the story a proper beginning and end while everything else is scrambled together.

Same. I never played the originals either, but I enjoyed the remakes. Then I tried RE1 Remastered, but the tank control was not for me. RE4 didn't have any better control, I was only satisfied with the RE6, and I played it all the way through. I'd rather wait for the RE4R. I hope they put more content in it than in RE3R.

Meh, RE2 and 3 Remakes are hands down my 2 favorite games, and I've been playing RE since it started. And RE3 Remake is some of the most fun I have had playing a game. People are just too picky and hyper critical these days, can't separate their own expectations from reality. Life is much more enjoyable when you're not picking every little thing apart and hating stuff just to hate it.

I can't help but fully agree on everything in this video. Even though I love RE2's Remake and to an extent with RE3's Remake. Cause it was fun going through it again and again due to how short it is for some reason.
And now that the Dead Space Remake has done what the RE1 Remake did, and all of its current reception. It's safe to say people love the same game with added and/or revise parts to make them better.
RE4's Remake seems to be going that same route too but we'll see.

You pretty much hit the nail in the head. One of the things I missed was that could press the action near objects in the area to get an idea on the thoughts of the characters you control. It gives you an idea of what they prioritize as well. I loved the RE1 Remake, the RE2 was great but got rid of the actual scenario differences, and RE3 is a mockery of the OG RE3 (my personal favorite- you never knew when that dude would show up).

RE2 remake is the perfect embodiment of classic RE mixed with modern RE. It quickly became one of my top 3 favorite RE games. It really wasn't a big deal to me that LeonA/ClaireB ClaireA/LeonB was removed, most casual players who only do 1 time playthroughs wouldn't have made use of it, not surprising that Capcom saw it as a waste of money and development time.

I love Re2R, but the lack of a zapping system really bothered me. What’s worse is that if they had just made 2 separate canon stories, one for Claire and one for Leon, I’d be fine with it. But no, instead we basically have the Re1 situation all over again where both scenarios are somehow canon.
Re3R was just a mess. It felt like a dlc campaign for 2R. So much cut content, so much potential. It’s just a shame.
Capcom, pick one or the other. Also stop with the shitty RE multiplayer modes/games.

  • @Turo602
    @Turo602 2 роки тому +3

The problem with the remakes is that they failed to capture what made their original counterparts special when they first came out and focused more on modernizing the experience than recreating it.
Resident Evil 2 and 3 to a lesser extent are phenomenal modern Resident Evil games. These are the Resident Evil games fans have been wanting since RE4 ruined the series. The Revelations games were decent attempts at what these games achieved, but felt more like RE4 being dressed up to feel more classic.
With more time and effort, these games could have been perfect remakes that eclipsed their originals, but we accepted them for making Resident Evil feel like Resident Evil again. Now if only they could have used RE2 as the foundation for something new so they could finally tell a new story, increase the scale, and update the mechanics a little in this style of survival horror because I really don't care for what they did with RE7 and Village.
My only hope now is that they can turn Resident Evil 4 into a true survival horror game and a better sequel than it was originally.

If you'd compare resident evil 2 and the remake of it without looking at the graphics, you'd say it's pretty much the same game. Try this with resident evil 3 and the remake and you'll say they are both different games.

I SAID THE EXACT SAME THING ABOUT FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE VIDEO! Its not a remake, its a Reimagine. A remake keeps the same concept but enhance or add to whats already there. A reimagine takes familiar set pieces like characters, locations, etc, and make it into something complete different. People argued me down about this and glad to see someone else thinks the same way as I does.

  • @ajhhc

I only bought RE2R, because I didn't even like what I saw in the intro of 3, and having played it a fair bit, I can say that it captures a lot of the original game, most of the locations are intact and improved (especially the sewers). Everything feels different, but I don't think it's in a bad way. The gameplay is also improved.
But the main issue I think is the story, mainly the lack of interaction between Leon and Claire, and the extremely awkward cutscenes and all around unnatural situations, like Kendo being so hostile for no apparent reason. I think the lack of good writing is what led to the dropping of the zapping system, because they found no way of making it work with the story they had, or because it would have needed more budget for more alternative cutscenes.
And even though I said the locations feel good, there was room to add even more, like and expanded city section, or the cut enemies.
It's a weird mix of awesome and disappointing, both as a remake and as a standalone game.

    • @Koralyst

Yeah, I feel like the cut/change story (Leon x Claire, Sherry interaction) doesn't get mentioned enough in any review.
In RE2Re, Leon didn't do jack in helping Sherry escape.
It's not like the original has that many dialog/cutscenes either and they still decided to cut/change it.
"Leon's not just anyone" is a quote from Sherry RE6.
Yeah, no... Leon was just some guy you met on the train when you escape Raccoon city, Claire was the one who did everything.

There are many reasons why I wouldn't consider Resident Evil 2 & 3 remakes, the main reason is because Capcom clearly called them re-imagined versions of the original with a lot of cut content.
The Resident Evil Remake from 2002 is the only true remake , it took everything great from the original and added more content , more extra modes, !it's unlockable and the best part...No DLC ! All those things i mentioned came with the game upon purchase for free !
