I always thought the "X-Ray Eyes" sound effect was another "disco-ish sound effect", like the one used in "I Was Made For Lovin' You" (that Dan use to recreate by throwing matches in the toilet in the 70's) LOL. Open that DYNASTY album my friend. 😍 You need to enjoy that total 1979 experience. You should open ON the anniversary. I totally agree with your Vini Solo domino effect. There was a panel from the Hard Rock history comics I always loved, where Paul say's to Vini "the songs were heavier when we wrote them, you made them sound..." and Vini say's "Slick and poppy?" LOL. Granted those were fictional comics based on real history, but I ALWAYS think of that panel whenever it's time to celebrate DYNASTY. Absolutely love this album. My all time favorite release. Danny bought this me this CD for Christmas, probably 1989. Hence, this will always be a winter album to me. Great show!! Have a great week. You all are the best!
Great video! I remember when I first heard IWMFLY I hated it. This was in '79 when it came out. I was 11 years old. I had been into KISS from late '76. My 3rd grade school papers (my mom saved them all) are drawings of Gene and Paul. Anyway, this record put me off KISS for a while. I didn't even pay attention to Unmasked but I did really like The Elder probably because of all the other music I was getting into. I remember Creatures being cool and thinking KISS was back but as soon as they took the make-up off I was out. It's only been in about the last 10 years or so that I have went back and got all of their records and I really do like most of it. Back to Dynasty, I really think it is a great album now. You are correct to think of it as an extension of the solo albums because that is what it is. I always listen to this record all the way thru and enjoy it that way. To me the weakest songs are IWMFLY, Sure Know Something and X-Ray Eyes. Magic Touch and Charisma are awesome! And it goes without saying I love the Ace songs. Dirty Livin' is great too! Take care!
Great episode,Dynasty, and unmasked are my favorite albums. I love the costume and the change in direction that KISS took, and I thinked it payed off. My favorite song in Dynasty is X Rays Eyes . The song I would take out for magic touch is "it's alright". Thanks for the great content. Keep it going.🤘
Thanks for another great episode! This album has sentimental value to me. As I've mentioned before, my childhood neighbor worked at Casablanca Records in the late 1970s. He knew I was a Kiss fan and gave me a promo vinyl 45 of IWMFLY before it was released. I remember being startled by the disco sound of it, but liking the drums a lot. Of course we wouldn't find out it was Anton Fig until years later.

I love Dynasty. Top 5 for me. And way better than anything after it. Love having so many Ace songs. Hard Times is great. Anton was the best drummer for Kiss by miles.
..mate!..what a cool show guys..1979 was my first KISS and it was IWMFLY..I was hocked when I saw the video and heard the song for the first time..I was around 10/11 years old..between '79 and '81 KISS was f#@kin huge here in Australia..we had everything from KISS t.shirts, posters, mag;s and my fav was the KISS bubble gum cards, you heard KISS everywhere from tv radio car stereos and kids would take tape recorders to school and play DYNASTY and Unmasked..thats were I heard for the first time KISS ALIVE II, I new the songs cause I heard Destroyer and Love Gun albums at my mates place, but I new that these versions of the songs were live..I got ALIVE II bout 3 weeks later and it blew me away man..but in Australia KISSteria was alive and well..then they hit Australia in Nov 1980..BANG!!..it was on big time..that show at VFL Park Melbourne 50,000 fans packed in to that stadium was f#@kin legendary mate..I will never forget that night mate...although many older fans didnt like DYNASTY as much, to me that album rocks hard I love every song on it mate..cant wait to see the next eps guys..well done..take care🤘😝🤘
I always assumed the sound effect on X-ray Eyes was a late 70s concept or idea of what a laser would sound like, since lasers and x-rays and such all kind of tied together back then. I definitely believe it is intentional.
Awsome video man i got dynasty as a christmas gift back in 2013 and my favorite song is charisma 2nd favorite is sure know something i was made for lovin you is great but sometimes i like listening to the b side songs which is why when i got into 8 tracks and saw that the dynasty 8 track starts off with 2000 man and the 2nd song is magic touch and you don't hear i was made until close to the end and sure know something closes the album that was cool have a great week my man and take care
One my favorite KISS studio albums. Dynasty was released when I was in seventh grade. KMart was promoting the album with now Holy Grail promo triangle-cube. Such a great album.
I've never heard of the promo triangle cube!! I know the one for H.I.T.S. but not Dynasty. I'll have to do some research for the next episode!! Thanks Mick!! 🤘
