People want to hate on Ace these days (he's lucky just to be alive and still playing) but he was one of the greats back in the day and few could touch him. Ace inspired more people to pick up the guitar than just about anyone else, myself included. Thanks for this!
love ace! he might have some kind of health related thing causing him to forget how to play some of his stuff or then it's just the drugs he has taken all those years catching up to him.
Ace is a solid player of basic rock guitar. He just happened to be part of a band that was a trendsetter. Musically there was nothing amazing about what they were doing. They’re clearly influential, but virtually everyone they influenced are more gifted than they are when it comes to musicianship. Ace had some timeless riffs, but just about anyone who’s been playing guitar for more than a couple years can play anything he’s done.
I remember when I was 12 or 13 I had a Ace Frehley T-shirt with just his picture and He was always my hero and I have a DiMarzio pickup in my Les Paul just like his. I am 57 now.
ACE has lived & rocked HARD, and here he is, still alive & well. That, in itself, is a miracle. The guy has nothing left to prove, because he paved the way for us back in the glorious 70's. A total legend.
No matter what, Ace spawned a generation of guitarists. Tasty solos which always served the song. We all age and aren't what we were in our prime, but the man was a huge influence and definitely lived the rock-n-roll lifestyle!
Chris you did a great job. You honored one of your guitar hero’s with a ton of respect. Obviously you are on a different level but you got there by initially listing to people like Ace. He is a gem and you paid respect to that!
You can always tell an Ace fan by how much their face lights up watching Ace play the Shock Me solo. Chris had the same excitement level Matt Sweeney had when he interviewed Ace.
To the haters, let's get something straight: Ace Frehley has nothing to prove to anyone. The number of arena shows this man has played to screaming fans for decades, the fact that he is still releasing original music and performing it in his seventies, the amount of influence he has had on young guitar players for decades, the distinct sound he brought to Kiss songs with his solos, the effortless authenticity he displayed with his solo album (including a hit that is still played at New York sporting events today), the fact that he designed one of the most iconic and most merchandised band logos ever created with a magic marker and a sheet of graph paper (look at his first take - despite what Paul Stanley would like to suggest, all of the essential characteristics of the current logo are right there), designed one of the most recognized character faces in the world with his makeup, one that is being propelled into the future in the form of a state of the art digital "avatar" show by a band that apparently can't thrive without it, AND DID ALL OF THIS WHILE HE WAS DRUNK... I think he can just do what he wants now. If you have any commensurate achievements, feel free to weigh in on Ace Frehley.
he seems like an awesome guy but his guitar playing is...not good. When he says: "When you use your finger and pick at the same time you get harmonics" then produces a bunch of horrible noise, but no harmonics...lol.

He’s not a clean technical player, but a lick master and showman. Happy that he’s sober and has survived the addictions. I wish him the best.

Awesome interview. Ace is the reason I picked up a guitar! My Uncle had a room covered in KISS and Judas Priest posters, and I dug through his record collection, found his electric guitar in his closet, and learned to play by picking along to Ace’s ‘78 solo album. His new album kicks ass too! Love that he’s still making music 🤘

As I advanced in age and in skill I discovered Hendrix, Gibbons, Van Halen, Larry Carlton, etc. I get that the music of Kiss is not intricate or super challenging but that wasn’t who they were trying to be. I’ll never say negative things about Kiss or Ace because their role in rock music history was so important. Are they the Beatles? We all know the answer. Was it fun as hell? No question.
Hey Chris! Sandy, here in TEXAS. Man, I want to tell you, you have a fantastic show! I love your format, guest, and the whole idea. You know, I was born in 65, and I was always surrounded by music, all the way back to the 60's. I'm a guitar player. My mother bought my first electric in 70 from a cousin of mine who had a psychedelic rock band at the time. I had an acoustic I messed with at the time. After my parents split in 77, I was allowed to pull the electric out of my Dads former closet and start to learn. I love all things Ace, as you. The first Kiss album heard start to finish was the first. Not the first songs, but LP. Paul Lynn had a Halloween special. I think that was the first time I saw them going through their gig. I always watched the Midnight Special and Don Kirschners , from much earlier, but I missed Kiss on The Midnight Special. You know, if someone puts the 1st Kiss LP in context, in 73-74. Aces guitar was unique. His choices of notes, and his flow of runs and licks was crazy. 100,000 years, She, Black Diamond. Thanks very much for having Ace on. He is a great!!!
I was 12 when Kiss alive came out. I Loved that record, but i was a drummer, so Peter's drum solo on that record was all i would listen to. I'm a guitar player now 33 years, still play the drums but it's an electronic kit. Ace is Awesome! Good Score. That Bronx accent is soo strong.
Ace solo's are so much much to play. I love playing this song. Also Strange Ways and Parasite. Even the Kissco music. Just wish the I Was Made For Lov'n You solo was longer.
Had just moved from Jamaica to Canada (was 6 yrs old). Saw snow for the 1st time and then saw KISS for the 1st time while watching some show. ACE BLEW MY MIND!!! I stood up, mesmerized, pointed at the Spaceman's smoking during a solo, and said to my mom, "I want to do that!" LOL
Thankyou so much for this interview, luved it. Luv seeing Ace, and all you people going on about what he looks like, just remember, are you going to look the way you did, when you're your later year's. Personally considering everything he's done and been through, and he's still here, and still playing, hey, im bloody proud of him. Thanks again for this interview, from Melbourne Australia
22:09 "Pantonic and Platonic! I don't know WTF" - Ace Frehley That is great! He doesn't know theory for sure, doesn't mean you shouldn't. He said it: He's blues based, playing from the heart, we could learn a lot from him even if he's not Steve Vai!
ACE is a living legend, and is the reason millions of kids and teens picked up an electric guitar 'back in the day'! He played from the heart, and his hard rock style spawned some memorable riffs and lead work!
I've seen Ace solo 4 times since 2009, he is straight up an awesome rock and roll guitarist. Watching Ace and his band nail Snowblind live was awesome.
I love each member of KISS for a different reason. But Ace will always be my favorite. Such a fun bright personality, and somehow humbly confident? Lol great interview and yes Gibson needs to make his black beauty with the cream!
What a treat! How can there ever be a better episode than this one?! And yeah the new album sounds great. Production wise it kind of reminds me of the last Ozzy record Patient Number 9 which I also really like.
Ace had always been my favorite from Kiss. I think he says what he feels. First saw Kiss in 1976 at Nassau Colisium in N.Y. the Destroyer tour. He might not play like he used to, but he still plays better then most.
Ace was always a great guitar player, match his play with his stage presence, movements and vibe and you get something few could attain. There is only one Space Man and now he’s Walkin’ on the Moon!⚡️

Aces guitar was unique. His choices of notes, and his flow of runs and licks was crazy. 100,000 years, She, Black Diamond. Thanks very much for having Ace on. He is a great!!!
Ace was my first guitar hero.
Ace's phrasing, riffs, and tone are instantly recognizable. He doesn't have a large bag of tricks, but the ones he has are priceless.
That's a nice way of putting it 😂
I was 12 when Kiss alive came out. I Loved that record, but i was a drummer, so Peter's drum solo on that record was all i would listen to. I'm a guitar player now 33 years, still play the drums but it's an electronic kit. Ace is Awesome! Good Score. That Bronx accent is soo strong.
I saw KISS when Ace got shocked in Lakeland Florida.
Ace solo's are so much much to play. I love playing this song. Also Strange Ways and Parasite. Even the Kissco music. Just wish the I Was Made For Lov'n You solo was longer.
This went exactly how I thought a guitar hang with Ace Frehley would go.
And I’m grateful for it.
One of the best interviews I have seen of him ......thanks Chris .....no bs interview
I don't know WTF" - Ace Frehley
That is great! He doesn't know theory for sure, doesn't mean you shouldn't. He said it: He's blues based, playing from the heart, we could learn a lot from him even if he's not Steve Vai!
Even when Ace is bad, Ace is good! You can't help but love Ace!
In 1975 I picked up my first guitar and I was amazed with Ace.. And I have been playing professionally since 1987,,,
Great job Chris! Ace is why I play as well and it was great to see this long form interview. Well done!
One of the best interviews with Ace on this early year 10,000 Volts release interview rounds! I loved the gear talk and influences discussed!
One of the things Ace does still have is command of his unique wide vibrato, It;s the thing that made Ace sound like Ace,
ACE is a living legend, and is the reason millions of kids and teens picked up an electric guitar 'back in the day'! He played from the heart, and his hard rock style spawned some memorable riffs and lead work!
I've seen Ace solo 4 times since 2009, he is straight up an awesome rock and roll guitarist. Watching Ace and his band nail Snowblind live was awesome.
Fantastic Interview, Ace is a legend and so are you Shifty!
Ace is da man!! Love the new stuff!
Ace is why I picked up guitar! Chris I'll be seeing you at the gig in Glasgow! 🤟🏻
Thank for sharing this video. So Cool! Ace is mr Rock n Roll and kicks ass harder than ever! Ace forever!
back then I was getting high. killed me. Ace has such an iconic approach to playing...his classic sound is really identifiable!
Kiss was my gateway band
Ace had always been my favorite from Kiss. I think he says what he feels. First saw Kiss in 1976 at Nassau Colisium in N.Y. the Destroyer tour. He might not play like he used to, but he still plays better then most.
Ace was always a great guitar player, match his play with his stage presence, movements and vibe and you get something few could attain. There is only one Space Man and now he’s Walkin’ on the Moon!⚡️
A legend, long may he live......great interview bro...
Great episode!!
I must have heard Ace tell the story of meeting Mitch Mitchell about a dozen times over the past few years and it never gets old. 😅
I'M RIGHT THERE WITH YOU ACE 🔥🔥🔥JIMI HENDRIX AND JIMMY PAGE 🔥🔥🔥 ACE FREHLEY ON ANOTHER LEVEL 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸😲😲😲😲
