@@The_PGK i feel that tata currently is not focusing on engines, but instead on electric power train. They know that electric is future, and investing into ICE engine research right now, only to get it after 10 years when world would already be electric is stupid. They could definitely borrow engine from fiat or something for temporary times.

The Tata Punch anyday for the NCAP rating alone. A slightly underpowered car, with a slightly less sporty engine and overall just a notch lower than its rival but with better safety is ALWAYS going to be the winner. Kudos to Tata for focusing on the important aspects. Now that the Indian market demands safety, every brand should be checking these boxes too!

@@berlins5242You're absolutely right that a car is a sum of all its components and more. Also you're spot on when it comes to quality issues with Tata. It comes down to two things. One, that no car is perfect and there are compromises you're willing to make and there are some non negotiables. Two, in comparison to the Swift ( which the whole video is about ), the Punch is better 'for me'. I've seen a lot of fatal accidents with the Swift and the safety being a huge issue. Sure, because it's a popular car and everyone might have one you could hear about a lot more crashes but it's a value judgement for me, personally. Like I said, different priorities and nothing has to be the 'only' right decision. 👍🏽
Definitely the K12 engine is best but apart from that everything is good in the punch. I would any day go for safety than a refined and better performing engine. Whats the use of such performance when you will always be in fear of safety.
I wish MS provides us with safer cars... for the refined engines and after sale service, no one can beat them.
Or may be tata provides a better version of the current NA engine or with a turbo petrol and diesel heart present in Altroz

@@berlins5242 I think gearbox and all other mechanicals including mileage are part of engine my friend which I already mentioned... I even mentioned after sales service is superior... All other parameters in which Punch is better is features, comfort, space, practically, etc.

Safety is more important than anything else on road! Only the person who faced reality would agree with me because to enjoy or live you need to be alive 1st, period!
Safety is really important but how did punch get a safety rating even before it was in the showroom, that's not how crash tests works. Euro ncap would actually go into showrooms anonymously and order the base model car and test on it, but global ncap is actually taking the best equipped model and that too from the manufacturer. How can we trust this.

I had taken a rental Swift to drive around for a month, and was always worried about safety when driving it. The mileage I got on that was the same as I got on my Tigor, both AMT. I have personally never seen mileage being better on Swift when I drove. Engine is sure peppier but the rear seat comfort on Swift was poor than the front seat as compared to Tigor. Punch is a different story...
There is no better fun car, on a budget, than Swift..
Only car that beats swift is Polo TSI, but the price difference is huge
But what you guys have missed out is an important fact - Peace of Mind in terms of service, availability of spares, ability to be repaired by any roadside mechanic and stuff like these wherein Swift still beats Punch handsomely. And that anaemic engine of Punch is just a big bummer.
Those are things of past now. You cannot deny the fact tata has drastically improved, and this comment is coming from a MS car owner.

@@berlins5242 what do you mean? I brought my car in 2018, at that time it was best option for me. Today in 2022 things have changed, all other brand's are also doing there best w.r.t to reliability , spares and service, it not exclusive to MS any more. It's just my opinion.

I am not happy with Punch Adventure Rhythm, not even covered covering 1000 Km The doors started to create noise and feeling irritated sitting inside the car while riding on some rough roads and tiny bumps.(typical Indian roads), i feeling like am riding a 10 year old car, the sound from the door is like Hard rubber is scratched against Steel (rats squeaking) its getting worse in Chennai roads. I cleaned the rubber beading along the doors and cleaned the contact area with body no use.... Even the service person don't have clue on what to do and how to get rid of the noise. kind of rat squeaking sound from all 4 doors after driving just 650 KM and still its sounds weird. Punch is over priced and for the On road price of 7.90 lakhs not even a fog lamp and the parcel tray hook clip falls down so easily, what kind of product they have given for customer..!!!!! Mileage is excellent for me.. 19 to 21 in Eco mode, 18.2 to 20.1 in City mode.
Hey get the door latches adjusted to remove the freeplay. It's a simple 5 minutes job at the service center. Loosen the allen nuts of the door latches on the frame.

This was a difficult comparo for you since you had to say punch was the winner.
After spending around 10 lakh rs, the most important aspect as far as a customer is concerned will be peace of mind wrt car maintanence.
Swift is a proven product in that aspect.
Punch is a freshly baked tata product which has safety and nice looks (both interiors and exteriors) whose long term reliability is pretty unknown.
Even harrier and safari from tata stable are now having serious niggles (flagship model whose chassis gearbox and engine are borrowed but still had hell lot of niggles).
So this review should be done after atleast 1 yr from now and from a customer perpective.

At 10 lakhs price, one would buy altroz xz iturbo dark edition, that would smoke the so called 'germ of an engine' easily.
Definitely worth the price ...and altroz diesel XT is also very good engine.....and a diesel is always a diesel....no petrol can drive better than diesel in city and traffic conditions....
8 month waiting on base model, when I asked why not on upper models, Sales rep says chip shortage. They have all the chips required for 7" infotainment lol

Been using Punch Adventure AMT for more than 2 yrs now. Here are things that makes me love it till date:
High sitting position makes it feel like a very expensive car. Provides great visibility of the road.
Ride comfort is absolutely great. Suspension is superb.
Ground clearance is awesome, especially for bad Indian roads. You can literally use it for mild off roading.
It is much more muscular looking compared to some of its competition - swift, wagonr, etc.
Due to heavy built, car remains fully planted on the road at high speeds on the highway at 100Km/hr.
Steering is quite well balanced, has feedback and is responsive.
If you ride often with your family, you have the peace of mind that this car is capable enough to provide safely to the extent possible
Things to consider about Punch:
Now, regarding the engine - It is meant to be driven around gently and comfortably. It is not tuned for performance. I have to rev the engine more to get performance out of it. But, it has never been a major issue, althorugh I drive fast at times and then gently most times. I often drove it in hills and mountains of western ghats and no problem so far with power. If some one wants a fast and nimble car, they should consider swift or something else.
The other item is mileage. Do not expect much mileage from Tata cars like maruti. I get 10kmpl in city and 15kmpl in highway on best days. Again fuel consumption also depends a lot on driving style.

If i pay 8 lakh so why u choose build quality only. Where as Swift give me everything. Long lasting engine. Trusted brand. High resale value 2 star rating. And tata punch have 5 star and nothing. TATA Punch petrol engine is 3 cylinder & underpowered also not refined. Power to weight ratio is very poor. On the other hand new swift dual jet engine is super refined and fun to drive with power to weight ratio of 102..!!!! superb
Nothing beats the bulletproof reliability and excellent after sales service of the Maruthi which for first time buyers is very important.
When Maruti came does it had everything in place? Tata competing and has become. O1 now so think how it would change in future

Safety is really important but Global ncap is not same as Euro ncap. Global might sound like its for the whole world but it's only for India and Africa and that too not supervised by any government entity.
How did punch get a safety rating even before it was in the showroom, that's not how crash tests works. Euro ncap would actually go into showrooms anonymously and order the base model car and test on it, but global ncap is actually taking the best equipped model and that too from the manufacturer. How can we trust this.

Anyone says a hatch sporty forgets how that abarth scorpio can smoke all these cold hatches. I too have the altroz. Begged my father to buy a used abarth couldn't find one and he definitely didn't rely on fiat and had to settle for altroz

I have both the cars in my garage trust me except that engine factor punch is well ahead of its league. Driving dynamics,suspension,steering feedback ,space ,the music system are fantastic 👌. There is a 2 secs gap in reaching the 100 km per hour.
But when u want instant push it is the swift which takes win.swift gear shifting is way better than punch.
But swift behaves quite similarly to the punch when it is packed as u have to shift the gear to lower one in order to overtake any vehicle.
Swift creats less noise but it is not at all comfortable for long stretch of roads.
Swift is urban road king while the punch is highway beast..
