Another important thing about Alicent choosing to wear green instead of red and black is that green is the color of HER family's house. Before she found out about Rhaenyra and Cole, (I believe) all of her dresses were red and black. She was sporting the colors of House Targaryen, showing where her loyalties lie. After she finds out that Rhaenyra slept with Cole and the king knew she slept with SOMEONE (I don't believe he knew it was Cole, but I think he believed her that it wasn't Daemon), Alicent realized that no one had her back or anything like that so she decided to make a statement by saying she's her own person; her allegiance is with her own house.

I LOVE your reactions, how you're trying to understand everyone's point of view (it's why I stayed on your channel when I found your GOT reactions) and the editing of the videos are GOLD
I’m so glad you could see that the reason for alicent acting how she did, all comes down to how her father raised her. By telling her she must prepare Aemon to be king and do all she can to stop Rhaneyra It’s one of the main themes of the show till now, and moving forwards. Parents, children, and being brought up to believe in something you might not truly believe yourself. The full show revolves around childbirth, families, expectation and duty (as well as fire and dragons 🎉🎉)
The gay guy that Criston killed wasn't threatening him, he's just a rich privileged guy who didn't realize that for Criston it's not just some affair on the side like it is for him, for him this can end in execution because he violated the law and he's a nobody so no one will save him from this situation. That's how I see it anyway.
It's kinda funny XD Jeoffrey never imagined how on edge Crippy Colis was, he was probably drunk and jealous, just wanted talk shit to and got bashed in. In the book this happens in a tourney, so Criston was in his right to hurt him. In the show it's a little bit confusing because they cut the scenes where we actually saw alicent intervening in Criston's side after the incident.
Alicents logic in Episode 6 is she’s upset that Rhaenyra hasn’t had to suffer while doing her duty. It is sad what Alicent had to endure to have her children and now they’ll be put aside as Rhaenyra is heir and her children who are legally recognized as heirs but are visually obvious bastards, will be next in line. Rhaenyra hasn’t had a suffering sex life when making her children. She clearly has a great relationship with Harwin and also an open one with Laenor. The situation is largely ideal for Rhaenyra as her father lets her get away with it because he loves her and also doesn’t care who the children’s father is. As long as they came out of Rhaenyra, Viserys sees them as the next in line. The problem is maintaining that as Rhaenyra leaving Kings Landing will make that difficult.
When alicent married Viserys Rhaenyra was already proclaim the heir, Alicent's children were never going to be next in line. Alicent is angry with Rhaenyra because Rhaenyra has all the options and does what's best for herself just because she cannot admit to herself that her father was the one who put her in this position and left her without options (she realizes this in ep 9)
Alicent is sure a victim of her father, in my opinion. As much as she is dislikable in some scenes, don't forget Otto literally pimped his underage daughter into a marriage with an old man. So her worst characteristic I think, is this obsession with these fake morals set in place by the political system, but she was taught that by her creepy father, I don't blame her. She lacked courage to break apart from this system when she was younger.
@ oh she 100% is, just also keep in mind he’s been gone from court for years. She is still bitter about the lie that sent Otto away so she has been taking out her anger on Rhaenyra since. She could have stopped whenever but chose not to.
Throwing marriage proposals to fix everything was historically very common. It truly was a currency. Both Otto's proposal to wed Rhaenyra to Aegon, and Rhaenyra's proposal to wed Jace to Helaena can be seen as attempts to forge a peace, as well as fuck the other party (I am aware of the irony). Rhaenyra would have to wait years to have offsping, limiting her ability to forge any marriage alliances.
Honestly if VIserys had married Rhaenyra (and after, Jace) to any other Targaryen at that point it would have been the best move. He screwed up real nice letting Otto sneak his bloodline in XD
I must admit, now when I'm rewatching.. The moment when Sir Harwin beat the s**t out of Cole is probably the frickin most satisfying moment of the show! ngl love it! 😅 💯🔥🔥🔥
Oh man this is quickly becoming my favourite reaction to this show, you and Olayemi are like the King and Queen of HOTD reactions, I love how unapologetic you are in supporting the mess that is Daemon and Rhaenyra lmaooo yesssss
54:40 Rhaenyra going up to Alicent is very much a power play on her part as much as calling Rhaenyra was Alicent’s. They’re both stubborn like that. You can tell though that Alicent didn’t expect her to show up in person though. But yeah I hate when ppl make Alicent out to be this master manipulator here because that removes any agency Rhaenyra had when this was very much so her rebelling and her decision to shock Alicent back, to not give in etc
That's the one thing I love about this show. Daemon is an extremely complex character. Yeah, he can be a jerk (trying to use a nicer word so UA-cam's algorithm doesn't automatically delete my comment) sometimes, but he loves his family. He's just not willing to sugarcoat things when he's saying what he thinks. Like when he told his brother he was weak. Yes, in a way, Viserys is weak, in that he caters to people he shouldn't in order to keep everyone content. Daemon isn't going to keep that fact from his brother just to be nice. He's dropping truth bombs so Viserys isn't blindsided by people kissing his backside to use him for power. Viserys is just too nice to be the ruthless king he needs to be with some of the people around him. But in the end, Daemon loves his brother.
Amusingly enough, the side piece's name is Joffrey. Joffrey Lonmouth. And he wasn't threatening Criston. He was telling him that they could conspire together to keep each others' secrets because it was in both their interests to keep a lid on those secrets. Criston's just a piece of crap that decided to take what he said the absolute worst way and started beating his head in. It was stupid of Joffrey to just approach him right away about it, but it wasn't a threat. It was more like "Crap's gonna go down and we're both screwed if it does, so we should team up to hide everything".
Brad is the only content creator that can make me sit down for longer than an hr and never be bored. Top tier reactions and editing ❤ And yes Daemon is indeed very sexy and the best character in the show imo 😊❤
I love your reaction to this show so far (it’s my favourite show) and you’re so thoughtful with your analysis! And I love that you pay such close attention ❤to
Also it doesn’t matter that if they are bastard bc viserys and Leanor publicly endorse them as theirs that’s all that matters. And they still ride dragons and learn traditional ways
Season 2 "SPOILERS" 46:28 Vis look at Daemon is giving the same vibes Rhaenyra gave after Daemon's "A son for a son" thing/tragedy/catastrophe came out. You know the one where she keeps looking at him like "no one would do something like that, right, right?" 🤣😅
UA-cam can screw off because I love these long videos of yours they are fabulous. You do such a great job editing, they are great to watch and so entertaining. I hope we get a couple more episodes before Christmas as I can't get enough of your reactions! ❤ Have a wonderful Christmas Brad!
Criston Cole getting away with murder at a feast in celebration of a Royal wedding is the one thing this season that I had a hard time swallowing. I just wish that they would have said something about why he was allowed to get away with it and still be a member of the King’s Guard. Since they are basing a fair amount of the cultural issues on medieval England, one of the roles of the queens in that time was to intercede for mercy on behalf of of someone. So if they had done a very quick scene with Alicent pleading on behalf of Criston it would have made a lot more sense to me why he survived and why he was now her sworn sword. And yes, marriage is a currency in this time. I actually think that Rhaenyra’s offer to marry her eldest son to Alicent’s daughter would have been a wise move. It would have bound the two branches of the family together rather than have them being competitive. It is essentially the same thing that Otto was trying to do when he suggested that Rhaenyra marry her baby brother. But this would have made a lot more sense in terms of the couple being much closer in age to each other. I’m really enjoying your reactions to these episodes and can’t wait for your reaction to the rest of the season!
As stupid as it sounds, seeing this uploaded made me tear up 😂 I’ve had a really rough week and I’m already dreading tomorrow. Being able to watch a new episode from my comfort UA-camr before going to bed is just exactly what I need right now. Thank you Brad!

I love this show! Daemon is definitely my favorite character along with Rhaenyra. He is a very complex character. I definitely miss Milly who played young Rhaenyra but Emma (older Rhaenyra) is doing a fantastic job as well. You forget after a while that they changed actors because you're so immersed in the world. RIP Harwin and Hand of the King, they seemed really nice. Can't wait for the last few episodes!
Idk why but the fact that you put this video out today when I got terrible news is just too perfect! I fully intend on binging Brad videos until I figure out what to do❤
Laena saying "half of the eggs never hatch" in the episode with two Targaryen births, one of which was already successful/'hatched'...gotta love foreshadowing
THAAAANKKK you!!! people are such hypocrites pretending this is not a thing. Had this been a young prince and an older girl just working in the castle, people would just KNOW how this was abuse of power.
In our universe as well, marriage started as business dealings. We turned it into a fantastical, romantic thing way later in history. With limited success, I think we can all agree. But what IS crazy is how they don’t care about degrees of consanguinity AT ALL. Uncle/niece, aunt/nephew, half-siblings, whatever. Eventually the kids are going to start coming out with major problems!
“An arranged political marriage? But Laenor is not _attracted_ to Rhaenyra!” “Well, most marriages between the noble Houses are to secure political alliances” “No, I mean…you know…”
There are many many alicent haters in the world and although she is not my favorite I think she’s unfairly judged and I like that you take an understanding with her character. One of the reasons I also think her father’s word got to her and her behavior now is because after the whole daemon brother situation she realized the rhaenyra who she thought to have still been her closest friend had no problem straight faced lying to her. So even if rhaenyra was to tell her that she wouldn’t kill alicent’s sons when she ascends the throne why/how could alicent take her word for it?
They make it very unclear if he startled the horse intentionally or not. He constantly lives in the grey area. *Obviously he never liked her but he also couldn't "finish" Rhaenera either.
"His wife was iconic, and he robbed us of her." be serious she appeared for 5 minutes and was irrelevant to the story (at least in the show). If you want to hate Daemon, find a better excuse 😂😂
Alicent as a person and character completely clicked in my mind once I started to view her as a deeply closeted woman that clings to religion and the men in her life in order to keep her life under control, because she knows she can't free herself in the circumstances she is right now. The sheer amount of anger at the fact that Rhaenyra not just spent the night with Criston but also lied about it, the genuine sadness and deep wish to make up with Rhaenyra while they were still young, and the fact that all of the actressess for both Rhaenyra and Alicent constantly say their relationship when they were young was a bit more than friendship definitely makes me see Alicent in a different light.
EXACTLY I feel like if you don’t view her as a closeted lesbian/at least in love with Rhaenyra if nothing else, then her character truly does come across as puzzling and nonsensical. Unfortunately most viewers don’t get this though (probs bc they can’t tell queer subtext that well and overall these days ppl want everything to be said and nothing left to subtext (which is NOT queerbaiting)) and so they say she’s badly written 😭
Simply love your reactions and the way you edit the videos, it makes watching so fun! Thank you so much for your work and content ❤ I am very sick and watching your Game of Thrones reactions and now the HOTD ones helps a lot to get mind off of things in bed through the months 🥰
29:13 im saying this because it's not said in the show, only in the books, but the worst part is... otto was wrong lol when it came down to it, rhaenyra said that if her siblings swore to be loyal to her and pose no threat to her throne, she would accept them into her heart because at the end of the day; they are her siblings Also, Joffrey (yes, bad name lol, but hes laenors side piece- the one criston killed) did not threaten criston :') he was a bit dense and thought criston cared for rhaenyra the way he cared for laenor, he knew rhaenyra would tell him of the agreement her and laenor made, just as laenor told him so he THOUGHT he was in a way, befriending, him. like "hey, im the other side chick, nice to meet you. we both dont like the marriage but they are taking us into account so yay! us side chicks gotta stick together" but criston is criston and yk what happened lol ALSO EDIT LOL again, not mentioned in the show but it was never actually confirmed that rhaenyra's sons were bastards- in fact, it was heavily implied it was a FALSE rumor started by Alicent to make Rhae look bad. For the skin color, Laenor was already mixed himself. Out of the gene pool of Corlys, Rhaenys, Viserys, Aemma, and ofc Rhaenyra and Laenor: its actually common and most likely for the boys to have light skin. And even if you go "oh but their hair!!" .. guess what? Rhaenys' mother was a Baratheon.. what are Baratheons KNOWN for? Their genes being strong and having dark hair! And even taking that out of the way, in the books, Aemma (Rhaenyras mom) was actually an Arryn, not a Targaryen. Her father was the Lord Arryn and her mom was a Targaryen princess, but Aemma's looks aren't actually revealed and its completely possible and likely that she, too, had dark hair from her father lol
A realization I just had and actually no one cares about: I get told so often that I defend Alicent and co. too much. But honestly I think I just don’t point out their flaws cause they are SOOOO obvious. Looking at characters in ways that aren’t as obvious is so much more enjoyable. I like thinking about why Alicent does what she does, or why Rhaenyra may not always be in the right, because it’s just not obvious. No one needs to hear someone talk about why Criston Cole or Alicent are bad people…we all see it. Also…I think Alicents fear is less so that Rhaenyra will just decide to kill Aegon and Aemond. The fear is that the people and other houses won’t follow Rhaenyra because they’ll see her as weak. And to earn their respect she’ll feel pressured to kill them.
The best way to start the day watching this reaction video !! Thank you !! Have an amazing day/night everyone !!❤️✨😘 sending you all lots of love and positive vibes !!
Usually, under such reactions, arguments begin in the comments: “She’s wrong, he’s a goat, black or green...” But when I saw your reaction, I just wanted to laugh out loud. Honestly, your montage is perfect and really lifts the mood. And we’ll leave the assessment of the quality of the series to Martin, who officially called the second season a complete failure, heh
59:48 remember Jon tho and in the books - rhaenys had black hair from her mother who was Baratheon and I don’t think we ever got a discrimination of aemma rhaenyras mum 🤷🏼♀️but in the show 🤔🤔
The Arrins are supposed to be blonde so even if Aemma wasn't Targ blonde she was indeed still a shade of blonde. Rhaenys did inherit the Baratheon dark locks and with Alicent's own 4 children being all silver-haired despite herself being dark-haired and having a 50% chance, the Valyrions either believed Laenor's children inherited their grandma's looks (which is what most other people assumed as well) or knew and accepted them anyway. Either way, the children were accepted and recognised by both Lords of the houses and the King of the reign too, so no one legally could have said anything. In the books the main reason their parentage is still questioned is because Rhae's kids were said to have a distinct look with dark hair and a pug like nose, implying they had got it from Rhaenyra's guard who must have shared the same features. That said we do not actually get a description of Harwin in the books and the only other Strong we get a description of had blonde hair. In the show, they made the kids' parentage more obvious by having the Valyrions be black. That said in the books there's technically still a chance they could be Laenor's. Martin plays fast and loose with these things so he can set up all the dilemmas he can, doesn't mean they're necessarily true but that's drama. But yeah in the books it's more the green side that keeps bringing up the issue otherwise it would have died.
I mean, the thing about marriages as a currency was prominent in our history up until the fall of monarchies. I am sure there are even feuds among the ultra rich that are solved through marriage even now.
The thing about Otto complaining about Rhaenyra is that he was the first one to suggest to the king that she be named heir, because of his utter hatred of Daemon. If he had only waited a little longer to see if his scheme to make his daughter queen played out the way he wanted, he might have avoided this whole thing, because he could have had Viserys hoping for a son with Alicent. But Otto pushed Viserys to name Rhaenyra the heir after Queen Aemma’s death just to thwart Daemon.
"The king will be dead soon, i know for sure." Sir, this man has damn near got 9 lives!
him and Aegon the second, they both have insane plot armor when you think about it.

Especially with the way Daemon was talking about her and wanted to marry her. But then he talked with her, and he (albeit blindly and desperately) chose to believe her. But he sent the tea as a 'just in case' type of thing.
yea Vhagar is old as hell. Shes like 180 years old with a lot of war experience. She also was the dragon of Visenya Targaryen, Aegon the conquerors sister wife.
Shes pasically a war machine
And an angry granny 😂
Larys' metaphor with the flower was also about himself. He was born disabled & shouldn't have survived in this world. Now he's thriving at court.
I LOVE your reactions, how you're trying to understand everyone's point of view (it's why I stayed on your channel when I found your GOT reactions) and the editing of the videos are GOLD
"I've really come around, haven't I?" Yeah HOTD has a way of doing that 😂
I’m so glad you could see that the reason for alicent acting how she did, all comes down to how her father raised her. By telling her she must prepare Aemon to be king and do all she can to stop Rhaneyra
It’s one of the main themes of the show till now, and moving forwards.
Even if he meant it, bashing someone’s head in isn’t a reaction it’s psychopathic behaviour
So, she's a repressed hater lol.
Alicent shouldn’t attempt to punish Rhaenyra just because of the struggles with her life because of how her father set her up. She’s just petty
house bracken and blackwood have generational feud
44:10 she really ate that too like 😭😭😭😭 she decided to be messy but still made it polite bc she’s Alicent after all lmfaoo
TIME FOR THE DRAMA, CHAOS, CONFUSION AND MESS! 🤸🏽♀️
FATHER BRAD IN THE GLASSES IS CRAAAAAZY. oh my. also so very happy you’re watching this! one of my favourite shows and season 2 is EVEN better
I think it was also to paint Alicent in a bad light. Showing to the court what she had to endure by the hand of the queen by leaving blood everywhere.
Olivia and Emma ATE
Yeah, the fanbase jokingly calls it Plan Tea. (It's really called moon tea, but Plan Tea is funnier.)
5:40 real and I’m glad Brad acknowledged it 😂
Matt smith is so handsome
my comfort youtuber watching my comfort show (yes that is a weird notion of comfort for that last one haha) ☺
Brad is the only content creator that can make me sit down for longer than an hr and never be bored. Top tier reactions and editing ❤
And yes Daemon is indeed very sexy and the best character in the show imo 😊❤
I love your reaction to this show so far (it’s my favourite show) and you’re so thoughtful with your analysis! And I love that you pay such close attention ❤to
Also it doesn’t matter that if they are bastard bc viserys and Leanor publicly endorse them as theirs that’s all that matters. And they still ride dragons and learn traditional ways
Season 2 "SPOILERS"
46:28 Vis look at Daemon is giving the same vibes Rhaenyra gave after Daemon's "A son for a son" thing/tragedy/catastrophe came out. You know the one where she keeps looking at him like "no one would do something like that, right, right?"
🤣😅
Thank you Brad!
god i’m so glad you’re doing this series! watched on patreon, excited to see the edit!
Your GOT/HOTD reactions are actually my favorite UA-cam content. Im already sad its gonna be over soon lol ily Brad 🫶🏼
Me too!!! So thankful we have season 2 to look forward to at least 😭
can't wait t see your reaction to the last part of the season lol
44:06 "That was the most polite F***U I've ever heard in my live" Im dead 🤣🤣🤣 So true tho...💀💯😂
Edit: On the second thought. Yeahh, "cringe' might be not the right word in this case lol that's not what I meant... 🤨😅
English is not my first language so my bad 😅😅
It wasn’t cringe lol
You're so funny 😭 I've watched dozens of reactions and yours is the best lollll
I love this show! Daemon is definitely my favorite character along with Rhaenyra. He is a very complex character. I definitely miss Milly who played young Rhaenyra but Emma (older Rhaenyra) is doing a fantastic job as well. You forget after a while that they changed actors because you're so immersed in the world. RIP Harwin and Hand of the King, they seemed really nice. Can't wait for the last few episodes!
Living For These Reactions! 🔥
Idk why but the fact that you put this video out today when I got terrible news is just too perfect! I fully intend on binging Brad videos until I figure out what to do❤
AMAZING, ILY SUCH A KING FOR WATCHING THIS. I WANT MORE!!!!!
TY BRAD! ALWAYS & FOREVER THE GOAT!
Laena saying "half of the eggs never hatch" in the episode with two Targaryen births, one of which was already successful/'hatched'...gotta love foreshadowing
Nobody ever talks about how Cole was too scared to say no. The consequences of refusing her might have been just as bad.
It's kinda assumed that although Targaryens do have issues as a result of incest, some of it is abated because of magic.
“An arranged political marriage? But Laenor is not _attracted_ to Rhaenyra!”
“Well, most marriages between the noble Houses are to secure political alliances”
“No, I mean…you know…”
There are many many alicent haters in the world and although she is not my favorite I think she’s unfairly judged and I like that you take an understanding with her character.
LOVING your reactions to this. Thank you so much
I’m rooting for all the characters on this show bar Daemon. His wife was iconic, and he robbed us of her.
she seemed like a fucking force!!! I can't stand grandpa Daemon.
I couldn’t watch this yesterday because I was in the hospital, but I am FINALLY watching it because laughter is the best medicine ❤
Living for the hotd reactions
Got put on break at work to see this, instantly made my shift better 😭🙏🏻
Brad honestly your reactions are the best out there 😂😂
I loveee your reactions Brad❤
Enjoying this series sm!!
love these videos so much 😭❤️
You’re so funny I love watching my favorite show with you ❤😂
18:12 That's character development lol 😂😂😂😂😂
Simply love your reactions and the way you edit the videos, it makes watching so fun! Thank you so much for your work and content ❤
I am very sick and watching your Game of Thrones reactions and now the HOTD ones helps a lot to get mind off of things in bed through the months 🥰
Can’t wait for the next one~ please keep these videos coming ❤❤
Great and hilarious reactions as always!
This is wild I’m loving it 😂😂 you need to watch shadowhunters at some point Brad!
Can’t wait for part3!!
love love loveee your reactions Brad!!
We LOOOVE the long form ASOIAF content
29:13 im saying this because it's not said in the show, only in the books, but the worst part is... otto was wrong lol
when it came down to it, rhaenyra said that if her siblings swore to be loyal to her and pose no threat to her throne, she would accept them into her heart because at the end of the day; they are her siblings
Also, Joffrey (yes, bad name lol, but hes laenors side piece- the one criston killed) did not threaten criston :') he was a bit dense and thought criston cared for rhaenyra the way he cared for laenor, he knew rhaenyra would tell him of the agreement her and laenor made, just as laenor told him so he THOUGHT he was in a way, befriending, him. like "hey, im the other side chick, nice to meet you. we both dont like the marriage but they are taking us into account so yay! us side chicks gotta stick together" but criston is criston and yk what happened lol
ALSO EDIT LOL again, not mentioned in the show but it was never actually confirmed that rhaenyra's sons were bastards- in fact, it was heavily implied it was a FALSE rumor started by Alicent to make Rhae look bad.
Daemon though 🤌🥵
Love these reactions! ❤
I sprained my ankle yesterday at work so your video is the only thing getting me through this day😂🤗
Otto is really the Littlefinger of House of the dragon....
The best way to start the day watching this reaction video !! Thank you !!
Have an amazing day/night everyone !!❤️✨😘 sending you all lots of love and positive vibes !!
I knew you were going to love this show 😂
Usually, under such reactions, arguments begin in the comments: “She’s wrong, he’s a goat, black or green...” But when I saw your reaction, I just wanted to laugh out loud. Honestly, your montage is perfect and really lifts the mood. And we’ll leave the assessment of the quality of the series to Martin, who officially called the second season a complete failure, heh
Fun fact: in the fire scene at the end, Lyonel's actor actually broke the prop he was trying to break down the door with. Lord Strong indeed
Thank you for the entertainment Brad!!
AHHHH SCREAMING !!!! HERE I AM, so excited!
"Why are you in my face?"- Psychic Brad 🤣🤣🤣
I cannot wait for your next episode! Thank you so much!
You're so quick Brad! You pick up so much, it is a joy to watch!
I mean, the thing about marriages as a currency was prominent in our history up until the fall of monarchies. I am sure there are even feuds among the ultra rich that are solved through marriage even now.
my favorite episodes of this season 5,6,7 iconic actually
Rheanyra is that girl😭👏🏾Team Black all the way
The thing about Otto complaining about Rhaenyra is that he was the first one to suggest to the king that she be named heir, because of his utter hatred of Daemon. If he had only waited a little longer to see if his scheme to make his daughter queen played out the way he wanted, he might have avoided this whole thing, because he could have had Viserys hoping for a son with Alicent. But Otto pushed Viserys to name Rhaenyra the heir after Queen Aemma’s death just to thwart Daemon.
has there ever been a smore swift and dramatic 180 from "oooh i like him" to "oh but fuck THAT guy" as there is for Sir Criston Cole? lol
i KNEW you’d love daemyra 😭❤️
Your editing is always top-tier. ;)
The funko pops are so cutee
I am here for this!!!! 🐉
I live for these way you say “LIVE” lolll
