can i just say the first cut of the dragon with dany's targ theme playing in the back literally moved me to tears the first time i watched it. after sitting in the shitty ending of game of thrones for years, this was such a breath of fresh air
The way I interpret the boar and the white deer/mousse is it showed to us that Rhaenyra will only engage in violence if she's being attacked like in the instance of the boar so self-defense, but she won't attack first like with the white deer. It also shows that she is not going to follow "traditions" especially, those that are violent like killing an animal for some bulls*** reason.

I've been waiting sooo much for this ❤ And just a quick correction: at 26:45, you said Targaryens don’t burn, but actually, they do. In the books, Dany is called “the Unburnt” because she survived the birth of the dragons, and that was only because of magic. She’s not naturally fireproof. In the show, yeah, they made her immune to fire, but that was more of an exception, it's not something that all Targaryens have.
In the books Danny is only fireproof once. it’s the season finale of episode one but she’s completely bald which omg would have been such a slay in theatrical version.

I’m gonna give you some lore for 44:20 so the Targaryens and their dragons are psychically linked so daemon just needs to feel he needs caraxes and he will come only rider and dragon have this bond and this is how drogon comes for dany to save her from the sons of the harpys, the bond between dragon and rider is magical
That being said, not every riders & dragons bond is as strong as others... Some might have a stronger connection to their dragons, than other riders have to their own.
7:50 you'll notice eventhough HOTD is set before GOT sets look more advanced/nicer because of the increase in budget. A problem a lot of book readers had with GOT was the iron throne, it was supposed to be a literal sword staircase leading up to the sword throne and the GOT thrones was so dissapointing. So they made it a little better for HOTD
You are wrong to think that the princess is in no rush to get married now that the king has a boy, since she, as heir to the throne, MUST produce her own heirs, Aicent's children are "replacements" in case Raenyra die Viserys did not change the succession

While Viserys has an heir in Rhaenyra, they’re at war and Daemon is actively going rogue, and he’s the most powerful dragon rider at that moment since the larger and more experienced dragons have no riders (he could possibly be challenged by Rhaenys but Meleys has far less battle experience). The kingdom and Rhaenyra’s political standing are considerably more secure if she has children and her line isn’t as easily ended. It’s like the teach a man to fish thing. If you have an heir, your dynasty is secured for another generation (if the heir outlives you). If your heir has heirs, it’ll be secure for many more. Still awful that it’s against Nyra’s wishes but that’s Viserys’ line of thought
You are going to notice that dressing in general is more colourfull, there is more jewelry and most importantly, almost every character wears the symbol of their house in a much more visible display. This was one of Martin's petitions to do this series. Also, the throne is closer to what the books describe

Most people lack the media literacy to understand her situationship, the show starts when she and rhaenyra are 14, she has to do what her father tells her you can literally see how nervous and uncomfortable she is around the king. About 59:36, the reason Viserys was pushing Rhaenyra to get married is because there are so few Targaryens left. You have Viserys himself, Rhaenyra, Daemon, Aegon (Viserys and Allicent's son who is an infant), Rhaenys, and her two children Laena and Laenor. It makes more sense if you know the history of the Targaryens, but to put it simply; they have shit luck when it comes to their children and heirs surviving long enough to reproduce and expand the family. Jaehaerys, the King from the start of the show and Viserys' predecessor, had thirteen children with his sister wife and only nine of those children survived to adulthood, and only four of them had children (Aemon - Rhaenys' father, Baelon and Alyssa - Viserys and Daemon's parents, and Saera - who had a few bastards ). Rhaenyra would need to get married as soon as possible because she would need to have children sooner rather than later, both to secure her own heir to pass the throne to *and* to produce more Targaryens to avoid the family dying out in one generation. Aegon is literally two years old at that point, and in this sort of world he could easily die of illness or accident, as could Rhaenyra herself. So Rhaenyra marrying and producing a good few children stabilises the family and her own rule.

Happy you're watching this. I love this show! The second season has some weird pacing most likely from issues stemming from the writers strike i think unfortunately. Despite that I'm very exited to get season three at some point. I really like this shows style in comparison to some of the later GoT.
I don't understand how people come to the conclusion that Alicent truly wants to marry Viserys. She was told by her father, literally! We know the woman's place in a universe like Game of Theones and House of the Dragon, women are seen as nothing but an extension! Alicent has no choice but to comply to her dad's wishes. She is biting her nails for Christ's sake. She was never power-hungry before and only ever cared for Rhaenyra and her dad. We see Otto tell her to go visit the King + We see her not exactly excited to do so + We see Viserys not wanting to let Rhaenyra know of what theyre doing which is yikes itself. Literal textbook grooming. Viserys knows Alicent is being forced to talk to him yet he's the King! He can stop her from flirting with him. He still has the choice ultimately to remarry or not despite the council's demands. Im just so sick of the young Alicent sneaky pipeline. It reminded me so much of when Sansa is suddenly public enemy number 1 in the earlier seasons. Its much more complex what girls go through especially in medieval times. Its not black and white.
44:23 Also, Caraxes every time he sees Syrax he is always making love songs or failed rap songs as the producers of the series said. And I think that's super cute!
Daemon is very interesting. His one good quality is that he loves his family and wants their recognition and respect. He also inspires his men and rallies them together behind his solid leadership but otherwise he’s ruthless and reckless. Daemon didn’t have to steal that egg. There’s plenty on Dragonstone and probably multiple in the Dragonpit. He went back to KL and stole that one because he’s petty and wanted to draw out his brother. Also, Daemon doesn’t necessarily have to command Caraxes. There’s something of a telepathic link, like the Starks with their direwolves. It’s possible Caraxes sensed Daemon’s anger at Otto and came to back him up. Also also, Caraxes is actually “deformed” (I hate that word but can’t think of another). Dragons don’t come with necks and bodies that skinny and long. His and Daemon’s personalities match, neither sit still for very long and both are kind of grumpy. And Otto was really shady in his and Daemon’s first interaction. Those punishments he dished out are actually the punishments for breaking those laws. Daemon’s actually trying to clean up the streets and Otto’s trying to undermine him by making him look excessively violent (which he is to an extent, but still, there’s an agenda)
fun fact syrax and caraxes are husband and wife in fire and blood it says that he gets her food for her and sings to her.caraxes is mutated which is how he can sing to her,.his roar is more high pitched as well as the other dragons not liking him which ties into daemon.george likes to use the dragon as a representation of it's rider. also the fact that george rr martin even wrote about the relationships between the dragons is really cute.
The pilot episode of HoTD is one of the best pilots ive ever seen. Proceeded by one of the most solid seasons of television ive ever seen. Season 2 is even better in terms of production, just slightly messier in terms of direction and focus in my opinion. Overall an incredible show!

i think saying alicent is shagging viserys is a bit sensitive to be honest because at the end of the day she was a 15 year old child who was doing what her father told her to do. she is a child bride and is going through marital rape by definition. viserys and otto are the only ones that are guilty in that whole situation
What's so fucked up about the first episode is that if Viserys and the Maester would've actually explained the situation to Aemma, she very well may have chosen to allow them to take the baby out, since she was probably going to die anyways. I can't even imagine how terrifying that must've been, being yanked down and cut open like that without anyone even telling you wtf is going on 😢
I WILL say: young Alicent had no ambitions so intense, it was all her douche of a father Otto, HES the one who made her go visit the king when Aemma died… I think Alicent, when she was young, is feeling a sort of shame or betrayal of her own accord towards her friend for what her father is making her do.

About 59:36, the reason Viserys was pushing Rhaenyra to get married is because there are so few Targaryens left. You have Viserys himself, Rhaenyra, Daemon, Aegon (Viserys and Allicent's son who is an infant), Rhaenys, and her two children Laena and Laenor. It makes more sense if you know the history of the Targaryens, but to put it simply; they have shit luck when it comes to their children and heirs surviving long enough to reproduce and expand the family. Jaehaerys, the King from the start of the show and Viserys' predecessor, had thirteen children with his sister wife and only nine of those children survived to adulthood, and only four of them had children (Aemon - Rhaenys' father, Baelon and Alyssa - Viserys and Daemon's parents, and Saera - who had a few bastards ). Rhaenyra would need to get married as soon as possible because she would need to have children sooner rather than later, both to secure her own heir to pass the throne to *and* to produce more Targaryens to avoid the family dying out in one generation. Aegon is literally two years old at that point, and in this sort of world he could easily die of illness or accident, as could Rhaenyra herself. So Rhaenyra marrying and producing a good few children stabilises the family and her own rule.

Despite that I'm very exited to get season three at some point. I really like this shows style in comparison to some of the later GoT.

I don't understand how people come to the conclusion that Alicent truly wants to marry Viserys. She was told by her father, literally! We know the woman's place in a universe like Game of Theones and House of the Dragon, women are seen as nothing but an extension! Alicent has no choice but to comply to her dad's wishes. She is biting her nails for Christ's sake. She was never power-hungry before and only ever cared for Rhaenyra and her dad. We see Otto tell her to go visit the King + We see her not exactly excited to do so + We see Viserys not wanting to let Rhaenyra know of what theyre doing which is yikes itself. Literal textbook grooming. Viserys knows Alicent is being forced to talk to him yet he's the King! He can stop her from flirting with him. He still has the choice ultimately to remarry or not despite the council's demands. Im just so sick of the young Alicent sneaky pipeline. It reminded me so much of when Sansa is suddenly public enemy number 1 in the earlier seasons. Its much more complex what girls go through especially in medieval times. Its not black and white.

Daemon is very interesting. His one good quality is that he loves his family and wants their recognition and respect. He also inspires his men and rallies them together behind his solid leadership but otherwise he’s ruthless and reckless. Daemon didn’t have to steal that egg. There’s plenty on Dragonstone and probably multiple in the Dragonpit. He went back to KL and stole that one because he’s petty and wanted to draw out his brother. Also, Daemon doesn’t necessarily have to command Caraxes. There’s something of a telepathic link, like the Starks with their direwolves. It’s possible Caraxes sensed Daemon’s anger at Otto and came to back him up. Also also, Caraxes is actually “deformed” (I hate that word but can’t think of another). Dragons don’t come with necks and bodies that skinny and long. His and Daemon’s personalities match, neither sit still for very long and both are kind of grumpy. And Otto was really shady in his and Daemon’s first interaction. Those punishments he dished out are actually the punishments for breaking those laws. Daemon’s actually trying to clean up the streets and Otto’s trying to undermine him by making him look excessively violent (which he is to an extent, but still, there’s an agenda)

fun fact syrax and caraxes are husband and wife in fire and blood it says that he gets her food for her and sings to her.caraxes is mutated which is how he can sing to her,.his roar is more high pitched as well as the other dragons not liking him which ties into daemon.george likes to use the dragon as a representation of it's rider. also the fact that george rr martin even wrote about the relationships between the dragons is really cute.

The pilot episode of HoTD is one of the best pilots ive ever seen. Proceeded by one of the most solid seasons of television ive ever seen.
Season 2 is even better in terms of production, just slightly messier in terms of direction and focus in my opinion.
Overall an incredible show!

i think saying alicent is shagging viserys is a bit sensitive to be honest because at the end of the day she was a 15 year old child who was doing what her father told her to do. she is a child bride and is going through marital rape by definition. viserys and otto are the only ones that are guilty in that whole situation

What's so fucked up about the first episode is that if Viserys and the Maester would've actually explained the situation to Aemma, she very well may have chosen to allow them to take the baby out, since she was probably going to die anyways. I can't even imagine how terrifying that must've been, being yanked down and cut open like that without anyone even telling you wtf is going on 😢
I WILL say: young Alicent had no ambitions so intense, it was all her douche of a father Otto, HES the one who made her go visit the king when Aemma died… I think Alicent, when she was young, is feeling a sort of shame or betrayal of her own accord towards her friend for what her father is making her do.
not many people understand her... i think her very religious upbringing made her develop a very intense sense of duty, and at 15 duty for her is to obey her father

a marriage would help solidify rhaenyra’s claim and show stability, the downside of her boldness and assertiveness in this stage of her life is that she isn’t quite seeing the bigger picture as she might think and has not considered the consequences of her actions
