Question. How far would you have the beaters when your trying to develop ankle teqniche. Closer or a tad farther

    Hello Cameron.
    I have two questions.
Why do you use the three springs and not two? Is it not easier to match with just two?
If you use three, like you show in the video, how do you exactly match the light spring?
I really like your videos, congrats

old comment, but you don't. If you only have two springs you have to match by feel, the slave pedal always needs more tension because the connection disperses some of the energy, so there's a lot of fiddling to match them, and you don't actually get the full range, your main pedal always has to be somewhat loser.
The third spring means you can just match both springs and then use the third for fine tuning the slave

Hey Cam, great vid. I too went from ICs to AL-2s (and also put the IC beater weights to give it more throw, but on a marksmen beater). But how come you decided to go with footblaster instead of using the E-kits that came with the pedal? I am using the E-kits at the moments and like any proximity trigger they are sensitive and require a good amount of tweaking with the module, but do you find the foot blaster superior?

The arms on the ekits broke and then I discovered external triggering. Had problems in the past with triggering. Seeing as the Footblaster allowed me to record my kick drum sound without compromising it with pillows was a big plus.

So, what happened to the Ekit triggers from Axys? Just bought a used AL2 setup that came with Axys triggers, wondering if they are any good. I can't imagine they would be shoddy. I am finding that this pedal, as opposed to my single chain drive Gibraltar i've been playing for he better part of 15 years, almost feels like there isnt enough travel, and I need to get the beaters back some. i've moved them back a bit using the locking screw at the top of the microtune, But I just can't seem to get the feel right. Maybe it's because there was soo much slop in my old pedal...

They're great! Unfortunately mine broke off. Completely my fault. Also switching from chain to direct drive will take some getting used to. Went through the same thing switching from iron cobras.

Did it take a long time to develop control on direct after being used to chain? Can still play slow comfortably when needed with direct and high spring tension?

It wasn't instant and there was definitely a learning curve, but I was determined. Having committed to buying the pedals there was no turning back. 😅
