Thanks for all the love again yall!! This might’ve been my favorite track from Ren 👀❤️ production team is INCREDIBLE too!! What else should I react to on the new album??? ❤
Love seeing your reacting Andy, but I need to correct you bro. In Knox's interview with Samuel the co-director and DP, it was confirmed that this is a live performance. Samuel even said that they needed to setup the pianist with inner ears so he could hear Ren thought the performance. You see, the further away Ren got from the piano the harder it was for the pianist to hear him for the cues in the songs to know when the cord shifts took place. Now the album is a different story, that's a studio recording and you'll find the song moves at a faster pace with much shorter pauses. Ren is just really good at post production work, cleaning, mixing & enhancing the sound in the studio.❤✌WHEN IN DOUBT TAKE IT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH. Watch the interview brother because I shit you not.

Pity you didn’t know that for the reaction as I’d have loved to hear you take on it knowing that instead of being confused trying to think how they managed to lip sync it :) Now - hi ren, there are some video bits from different takes to the live audio and the lip sync and some other things are a bit off - the audio was still recorded live in one take I understand, but they did use a couple of different clips from the other takes to make the video. You should watch the Jenny and Screech tales again as I would love someone to break down what the hell Ren is doing to capture such incredible live audio from a tiny lapel mic combines with another source for the recording. There must be some cross processing between the different channels and a load of filters and processing - but having done some very amateur audio work, it boggles my mind how they turn multiple poor quality channels into the quality we get at the end.
To be honest you haven't got the insight into it as the rest of us watching that's the whole point of blind reactions plus there is only Ren and maybe a few others I can think of that does live videos like this. He is a master when it comes to mixing ❤❤❤

But the audio was cleaned up in post production by Ren. 😊

It's live.. 2 takes, one from the beginning until he sits on the chair, the when the camera goes around, they cut it so they can change the position of the mic (they put it in his tie) and cover it with water protection. Also it was made this way so the strings quartet could sit down safely. You hear those explosions on the "p's" because it is right underneath his mouth (on the tie). If you hear the studio version even the tempo is slightly faster.
@al3x1s10 from what i gathered, there are 2 cuts - 1st the untiying, because sometimes it took too long (and the cut is almost invisible, but if you watch the hand position, you can tell they can't move that way in the given timeframe), 2nd the one you and @ironraspberry are talking about, cut happens during the wall scroll moment, because they had only 1 suit (which is custom made and quite costly) and could not risk redoing that shot due to time constraints.
Apart from “Hi Ren,” “Money Game Part 3” is, in my opinion, Ren’s best work to date, and the bar he previously set was already incredibly high. It is an amazing and thought-provoking piece of performance art. Ren played the intro on the piano. The guy who came up from behind and replaced Ren is Charlie Woof-Bryne, an accomplished classically trained UK pianist who also occasionally plays jazz and pop. At the beginning of Jimmy’s life, “one year old and his first words were’ mine, mine, gimme’; two years, old he was walking; three years old, walking quickly; four years old he was running around the pavement of his city. Then, “40 years old, and he cursed the words ‘mine, mine, gimme’; 41, he wasn’t walking; 42, not walking quickly; 43, never running around the pavement of his city.” ROM (@ROMsquad) during their reaction pointed out the irony that Jimmy was focused on chasing wealth and fame only to lose his ability to run as a result. This wasn't a total one-take but two separate one-takes. The video was a one-take up to the wheelchair getting turned around. They had to cut when the camera was pointed at the back of the wheelchair in order to prepare for the rain scene at the end. It could only be done once because Ren only had this one suit and his pants were about to get soaked. Moreover, the lavalier mic needed to be moved from his jacket lapel to his red tie and covered to keep it from getting wet. Not sure if you noticed but the violin and viola segment of the piece is playing Ren’s humming vocals from Money Game Part 1. Andrew Lloyd Webber, after viewing Money Game 3, stated that Ren is one of the most unique songwriters and storytellers he has seen in recent times and that he hoped that Ren’s album “Sick Boi” would hit #1. That is quite a compliment coming from this musical genius and legend.
It’s really interesting how skeptic Andy is about the live aspect. It says a lot about both Ren’s abilities and his dedication to getting things just right. Anyway I agree about the video comparisons. There is something absolutely brilliant about seeing what Ren and Sam can achieve with more of a budget in this, but Hi Ren and the Tales are definitely more intimate in the rawness. It’s like Ren doesn’t need a big visual production to tell stories, but it is still cool to see his visions come to life like this. I guess I hope he continues to do both depending on the song 😊
absolutely. i would have COMPLETELY agreed with @itsandiroo if i hadn't watched the interview on the charismatic voice where he talks about just how much insane work went into recording it live and mixing it to the point where he's actually blown the minds of several producers when he shows them the data files to see how it was edited. his mixing team and post production team is insane. the difference between spending $500 on money game 1 compared to $20-$30K on money game 3 is insane
The plop is due to the waterproofing mic inside his tie... it´s voice and music live recording, then post production... Check Knox's interview with Sam for more info...
I think Andy is so used to artists lip-syncing in what are supposedly live performances that he finds it hard to believe anyone is capable of doing a proper recording and do it exquisitely so! One thing I think people need to know about Ren is if he tags a video as a live performance, then it is indeed LIVE. It is really sad to see the amount of work that Ren and his team put into the production so unappreciated. PS. Glad he was able to see the BTS docu.
Ren is definitely performing this live. You can watch his throat and breathing. Whether or not he's doing it in time to the recording and the recording is what you're hearing is another question. They could be interchanging as necessary. Love Andy's breakdowns.
There was no playback of a studio recording while it was done - The behind the scenes video captures the live audio too and it is just him. No studio recording.
In an interview sam said the mic on his lapel was for the pianist so he could hear vocal ques, other than that it was live recorded . The 45mm had a 9mm mag (due to uk laws so it can't fire) so ren had a guy pass him a 45 mm mag of camera so he could load a 45mm mag on cam then he was passed the 9 mm mag back off cam so he could snap it in the gun, they only had one shot at the rain scene as ren only had one suite and the floor wouldn't dry again for an hour or so to be able to retake right away
Andrew is so intelligent, BP you have some switched on friends and guests, but this guy is in another level….. and he seems like a nice person…. I’ll watch anything you guys do together
On a live stream Ren said that there is one cut at the wheel chair spin. The 1st part took 16/17 attempts to get it right - The 2nd part took 8/9 attempts. He also said it was all sung and played live for the recording of the video!
Yeah but Ren has been wrong about cuts before. There appears to be 2 cuts in this particular video. One at the mirror and the other at the wheel chair. And it might have been sung live, but Andy's point was that it clearly wasn't all recorded with the mic on Ren's collar -which is true.
@@Corvid76 I think Andy is right also. I noticed a couple of places where the audio and Ren's lips weren't matching exactly. One example is the first time he says "a boy named Jimmy" the word "named" doesn't look right to me, and what Andy was saying about the plosives makes perfect sense; they are happening even when Ren is not facing the camera. Also, there is one obvious cut at the mirror when Ren tosses the sack off of his head. None of which diminishes the quality of the video in any way. I think the guy is brilliant. The hardcore Ren enthusiasts are getting to be rather toxic in my opinion. Not you @Barzo7 though.
@@Corvid76 I also direct you to Rens interview with Elizabeth Zharoff - The Charismatic Voice.... About one and a half hours into the interview Ren talks about how he records live and how MG3 was done !
I really appreciate Andi's classical insights as we don't get that knowledge from the majority of reactors and he's very clued up about production & mics etc too (although as others have already pointed out it Was a live recording, just with loads of different mics)
Per Sam P-F and Ren: $100k piano, kindly lent to them by Yamaha. Ren wrote all the piano and strings music. They used a very high end mic that looks like a flat button on his left lapel rather than a typical lav mic for the sound. It was actually all recorded live, no lipsyncing involved. The one cut in the entire piece takes place at the back of the wheel chair, to move the mic from his lapel to inside the knot of his tie and also to encase it in waterproofing prior to the "rain" section. That's the first bespoke suit Ren's ever had. Connor had to scramble to find a Colt .45, and they couldn't actually load it with a .45 clip, they had to swap clips off camera to not break UK law. This has zero to do with American politics. Amazing, mindblowing song and video.
If you catch the KnoxHill review he shows a few minutes on the production set. he did a little video during filming. It was awesome seeing the camera and how they made the rain sequence. 😊 I love the reaction ❤
My mom played piano my whole life, and I played piano/guitar/bass too, and there's just something so awesome about seeing a dude dressed like that, talk about arpeggios and shit that makes me happy inside.
I think he said in one of his live stream that they moved the mic during one of the shots to put it into the tie. And I think thats when the tie gets kinda undone.
I understand why some people are very into the details of how a production is done, but for me my focus is on the final piece of art that was produced. So one take or not doesn't change the seamless beauty of the video. Did you notice that when 'Jimmy' is first in the chair with the quartet behind him that all the other scenes of his life lay before him? ...beautiful
You really need to watch the interview with Sam it will give you all the behind the scenes stuff and answer all your questions, recording, camera, piano, cuts, swapping gun mags etc.
BP. I visited the Money Game Pt3 set which was the Secret Garden party. I had the honour of speaking with Sam about the production and asked him how many cuts they made during the shoot and there was 2 stops, 1st one was removing the hood at the mirror, 2nd was Ren in the wheelchair being positioned in front of the strings quartet. I can't remember the reasoning for the stop at the mirror but the wheelchair cut was to clear the set of the smoke bomb and cartel dude's. We got to see a short film of the set-up and filming which was a great insight to how much work and effort is involved with this production.
The gun is a replica 45. They actually had to have a guy just out of camera with the correct magazine because that gun takes 9mm shells but Ren wanted to use 45 shells in the video because he knew some people would notice so he filled a 45 magazine and then put his hand out of shot and the aid took that magazine and gave him an empty 9mm mag to put into the gun (or something like that) but him getting even a replica gun was a big deal there.
@@TobiiRheaStarr yeah fair enough... as a Canadian I thought I was covering my a$$ by making sure I didnt call the mags "clips" lol... but yeah Im not that versed in correct gun lingo and I would imagine Ren and his crew are also not as versed in correct gun lingo and etiquette. 😎
I love when andrew is on. I learn so much every time and his fascination and ability to explain what I’m hearing even deeper than I already had is crazy. Thank you for the channel and all of your guests!
I love Andiroo's reactions more and more! Incredible! (For the first time after so many rewatchings I've focused on piano playing underneath all this and it is completely insane!) Thank you both, love your stuff! 💙
Just a couple of things, which I'm sure others have mentioned, too. The piano at the start is lifted directly from Grieg, not Mozart, and there ain't no lip-synching going on anywhere here! I was happy to accept that the vast majority of the vocal recording came via that lapel mic, but then..... he took his jacket off. Someone else pointed out how that happened..... mic switched to a new position during the single cut in the filming. I gather from various sources that the room was meticulously miked up and very carefully lit before the event. Hats off to the entire team for producing something so technically and emotionally challenging.
Glad to see Andiroo in the comments, acknowledge the Team Ren Skill-set. Ren always shouts out those who surround him and support the complex Art he creates. I recall Ren say that although he composed the Piano (and later, Strings), he could not physically play the melody. To hand over your Composition, to be performed by another talented Musician, because the overall work will benefit.... Very humble indeed. 😂 Maybe Andiroo will have a giggle at his obvious Envy when he looks back in years to come. 😂 Gotta giggle when I see the youths testing the limits of newly laid neural pathways 😁😜🤣
Always a great guest. Always fun the to watch. I like the sceptical nature of andiroo, it shows a thirst for knowledge. Great reaction once again. Have fun folks 🥃
Hey thanks guys. At the end of the day, I just love the whole story…what a talent. Not too bothered how they’ve done it but I guess it’s part of your reaction. 😊
you should watch interview with Samuel .. i think Knox did it .. lost of behind the scenes intel as they go commenting scene by scene. From what I understand it was recorded on the set by Tim Hand. Edit and foley by Michael Keane. Ren than did post and mix on audio to make it sound better. Lavalier mic was also used to send audio to pianists ear peace so they can be in sync. They had issues with rain making noise on the metal roof of that building. BTW that piano was provided, delivered and tuned by Yamaha and it is indedd 100k piece. And that gun in not 45 .. he loaded 45 mag and than switched it for another mag that went into the replica gun.
Very watchable, cheers. I like the mutual respect that you both have for each other too. So refreshing. Ren and team, have made so many great things happen. Its just the beginning.
There is an excellent Behind the Scenes mini documentary done by wolf Johnson - its called ‘ Ren - Money Game Part 3 ( official after party ) - where they show the crew and Ren and friends preparing for the shoot - rehearsing and then filming - its pretty amazing - and you can see where the camera and mikes are .
Tell your guest BP he should know what REN is capable of...this is recorded live ! there is a behind the scenes so maybe that would put anyones doubt to rest.
It's 2 takes... As in one cut, behind the wheelchair. Such a creative production in so many aspects. Music, lyrics, cinematography, staging... PRODUCTION. It took many views to grasp so much... & I'm still seeing & understanding more with each view 💖
The mic in the second part (after Ren's tie is loosened) is on his tie so could easily have picked up the plosives. They also have other mics around. Really loved your breakdown Andiroo! ❤❤
Sam said the grand piano was 200,000 (British pounds). Also some how between him sitting in the wheelchair (maybe before) and him getting up to remove his jacket, they moved the mike from his jacket to his tie.(probably when he pulls it while sitting on the desk) I remember in a Twitch stream Ren explained that they did it. Super reaction guys!
Nah they had a boom mike over the camera and they shot it in basically a big metal walled room so the acoustics were good enough to get it as they shot. Just think back to the "Chalk Outlines" video, when Ren grabs the folding chair and opens it and it SNAPS!!! That was cause they were in a hallway and the acoustics made everything sound "bigger".
Hi Ren is better because it's innocent talent and not a major production. This piece is filmic and epic, which is the way it should be with an acts development. Art never sleeps and this proves it!
Why you always think is a studio recording. It's really easy to know when is a not a live recording. Genesis is a good example of it. This one tho... well, it was live, just loads of mics in the place and then Ren adjusted the levels and put all together in pos.
listen to this track on the album, they do it all with a much faster tempo. It has a different feel, I love the video but can easily enjoy the album track as well!
The piano intro is from a Edvard Grieg , Again, Astley did not "make the Rick Roll" and quit singing the song, he was so pissed.. He's a talented pop and r&b singer and a decent person, quick to concede and congratulate. He told his fans that Ren is amazing and to watch his videos.
Great reaction. I reckon that trigger discipline is purposefully loose as it adds to the tension he's creating. Oh, and that's for the breakdown on the lav mic issues. I do some video work and can't figure how he's getting such consistent high quality audio from a Lav. Also no boom in shot and it would be pretty hard to delete boom in post because of the movement.
Great reaction 😊 but simply put everything Ren does is thought out & deliberate & just because it seems impossible doesn't mean he hasn't achieved it somehow 😉 #gungate #micgate 😂
It's the opposite. They put on studio the vocals up to the live recording. There are plugins that check for peaks like p d g ... And stretch the new recording to match the live recording.
Everyone will have different favorites for different reasons. All 100% valid! Love it when Andiroo is here! Glad you got a chance to see the BTS to get some questions answered, because it's super cool to see it happening! Great reaction, Gentlemen! :)
So far this is my favorite song on the new album. I'm only less than half way through. Of course I'v already heard at least a few. It's super cool blasting it in my car. I swear the bass on a couple of the songs is going to blow my speakers. WOW. God, I love REN. I will buy everything he ever puts out. Look at how sharp he is in this one. Dayum.
It was recorded in this video. They just cleaned up any outside noise in post. All of it was recorded on the spot. It’s from a boom mic, because Connor had to have an earpiece so he could hit his queues with the piano. He is also really directing the strings live also.
C'mon it would be harder to record in the studio than do it live. The UK doesn't have nearly as much gun violence -- on the street there's a lot of KNIVES. (Note Ren mentions street knives in a couple songs -- 90s, Jenny, Love Music __)
Tie change (Ren moves it, jut got good cover for a milisec) is when they spin the picture with the globe, after that he still face away, but can see. As a camera and a high level photographer, Ren's videós, even the old one with a budget of 50 bucks, are stunning, i can still learn a lot from it!
There is so much wisdom in the Money Game trilogy that we have been taught to ignore and the only way to it was excluding the record label which would have quashed it from day one. 20 banks own the world. Wake up people.
I'm pretty sure when you're talking about something being captured in Hi Ren that's different from this is the fact that in Hi Ren he's being himself, In this he's playing a part. He's passionate in both but because he's not playing a part Hi Ren is just more natural. If both were remade with a talented actor who is playing a part in both you would end up with an entirely different result.
It's sort of fun to me how sooo many people love that piano intro and mention Bach or Mozart but don't know the admittedly lesser-known classical artist that wrote it. Hopefully it will inspire others to explore more of his fantastic music. It's from Edvard Grieg - Piano Concerto in A Minor
Ren got number 1 in the UK album charts last night. For an independent artist, it's an incredible achievement. Add in all the health issues and obstacles he faces, and it's just beyond amazing. There is a video of him finding out which made me cry with joy. I'll find the link and send it in a reply. I'm so proud of him and the global community(RENagades) he's managed to cultivate. He's insanely talented and deserves everything he is getting g at the moment. My journey started with hi ren when I was in a dark place, and it saved me, so thank you, @renmakesmusic, for everything you give us. Peace and love to you all
Ren mentioned that this video is the first one that had a budget of more than $1000. However, initially he wanted to rent a hangar, but justt the rental fee would have blown his budget.

Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes info I was curious about some of the stuff myself
I guess I hope he continues to do both depending on the song 😊
absolutely. i would have COMPLETELY agreed with @itsandiroo if i hadn't watched the interview on the charismatic voice where he talks about just how much insane work went into recording it live and mixing it to the point where he's actually blown the minds of several producers when he shows them the data files to see how it was edited. his mixing team and post production team is insane. the difference between spending $500 on money game 1 compared to $20-$30K on money game 3 is insane
he says it’s live with one cut in Wheelchair. He had two mikes Watch his Twitch from yesterday
Yup what Lisa said!
But this youngster thinks he's lip synching and it's all post production ?
There was no playback of a studio recording while it was done - The behind the scenes video captures the live audio too and it is just him. No studio recording.
@@davemcc9642this guy is always naive af. It’s a tough watch. Like jealousy or something. 7 sins
This person is my least favorite guest on this channel. thinks he's smarter than everyone else when he's not.
@@katatonikone6232 That's too bad. I greatly enjoy him and his insights into music and production.
Definitely worth checking out the BTS from Wolf
My mom played piano my whole life, and I played piano/guitar/bass too, and there's just something so awesome about seeing a dude dressed like that, talk about arpeggios and shit that makes me happy inside.
I really love how in the lines where his dad is speaking, the piano sounds to be almost mocking. Amazing composition! ❤
That's not Bach, it's Grieg (a minor concerto)! :)
Love Andy! Thanks for the breakdown.
I watch Black Pegasus everyday!!! My favorite show/channel ever 💕💖🙏🔥💕💖🔥🙏💖💕💖🔥🙏💖💕🔥🙏💖💕🔥🙏💖💕🙏💖🔥💖🙏💕💖
He did say one cut on the live stream right after the video was released. You can tell too as the smoke is gone.
It’s not a replica it’s a decommissioned real. 🖤
@@TobiiRheaStarr the interview I saw with Sam I believe he said replica... but its really just semantics anyway so whatever.
@@bazamere yeah I watched that and the BTS but it doesn’t matter anyway lol.. either way it had two mags that were switched 😝

Gotta giggle when I see the youths testing the limits of newly laid neural pathways 😁😜🤣
Love Andy's insights! Plus, he brought an apple for the teacher! 🍎😂😉
Always a great guest.
Always fun the to watch. I like the sceptical nature of andiroo, it shows a thirst for knowledge.
Great reaction once again.
Have fun folks 🥃
He's wrong, I've seen Sam interviews. But it doesn't matter. It's an amazing song no matter what. He's not lip syncing 😂
The studio recording on the album is completely different from the live version
It's fun to watch someone be so confidently incorrect 🤣
So fun and so sad at the same time 😂
Hey thanks guys. At the end of the day, I just love the whole story…what a talent. Not too bothered how they’ve done it but I guess it’s part of your reaction. 😊
I just noticed that the world stopped turning…the globe, as it were when he picked up the phone..
"you guys don;t even see what we see down here " Thank the lord.
Dear Andy thank you for all the info- love your POV! Great job BP❤
a thing you may not have seen if it was planned or not is when ren spins the globe while talking about cuba look where to stops rotating
Loved this reaction! Thank you for bringing andiroo back BP💚🤗🍀
you should watch interview with Samuel .. i think Knox did it .. lost of behind the scenes intel as they go commenting scene by scene.
As awesome as ever, love the conversation about this, thank you 🙏🦉❤️🐊👍
Very watchable, cheers.
I love when you bring here Andiroo!!! love it!!!!! both of you are amazing!!!!
I would love to see a Ren and AndiROO in an interview with each other. PG could officiate. Does anyone else think this would be awesome?
Not studio recorded, which is mind blowing. I feel this version is actually better than the studio version.
Not Mozart. That's Edvard Grieg that Ren is playing at the beginning.
Tell your guest BP he should know what REN is capable of...this is recorded live ! there is a behind the scenes so maybe that would put anyones doubt to rest.
Jeez...he an artist, not a gun toting slaughterer ... love to Maine ❤, this is mainly about America, parts 1,2 and 3 best I stop now !
That Supernatural interview is definitely worth watching.💕👍🦇
It's 2 takes... As in one cut, behind the wheelchair.
Such a creative production in so many aspects. Music, lyrics, cinematography, staging... PRODUCTION.
It took many views to grasp so much... & I'm still seeing & understanding more with each view 💖
maybe 2 takes, but 2 cuts, acknowledged by Sam. The first cut is the untying.
Great reaction as always. Thank you
Love Andy! Thank you for reacting to Ren ❤❤❤
I see from the comments you watched the behind the scenes ,loads of microphones in this to record his performance. Fabulous.
It was loaned and set up by Yamaha engineers, valued at £100,000, sorry to burst your bubble 🎈
Also they moved and waterproofed the Mike during the wheelchair cut
Who is Mike?
@@Steve_W27 🤣🤣🤣 oops 😋
BTW that session with MC Supernatural really was banging and honestly those who haven't watched it are missing out. 🔥🔥🔥
Eff yeah! Hi boys!
Thank you anon stranger, i edited my comment. were quick to his defense i see.
This is going to be GREAT.
Can you let me know where you found that info?
There is ONE cut, right at the back of the wheelchair. They had to cut because they had ONE take to get the water feature right.
Ooohhh can’t wait for this 👏👏👏
There is a cut behind the wheel-chair and they move the mic from his lapel to his tie and water-proof it ready for the rain scene.
Was there a mic in his tie with the string quartet? Looks like it in the knot
I LIKE The fact that a taller hooded man took over the keys from REN, ooh, symbolism.....all adds up. Lots going on
Everyone will have different favorites for different reasons. All 100% valid! Love it when Andiroo is here! Glad you got a chance to see the BTS to get some questions answered, because it's super cool to see it happening! Great reaction, Gentlemen! :)
Finally someone mentioned his trigger discipline! lol
I used to play piano when I was younger, glad Im not the only one who plays phantom keys when listening to music
I love Andiroo reactions!!! I always learn a ton from him
There is so much wisdom in the Money Game trilogy that we have been taught to ignore and the only way to it was excluding the record label which would have quashed it from day one. 20 banks own the world. Wake up people.
Andiroo always brings so much to the table due to his expertise... pretty incredible in such a young age! ❤
It’s a prop 45. And they had to file for a permit to be allowed to have it.
There is also a mic on the boom that has the camera
It was difficult for them to get/ use even that realistic fake gun and had to use a different caliber bullet since their laws are so strict.
I'm pretty sure when you're talking about something being captured in Hi Ren that's different from this is the fact that in Hi Ren he's being himself, In this he's playing a part. He's passionate in both but because he's not playing a part Hi Ren is just more natural. If both were remade with a talented actor who is playing a part in both you would end up with an entirely different result.
freaking Andiroo is greatly welcome for more Ren reactions
Peace and love to you all
you have to admit "never gonna give you up" is catchy as anything
Ren mentioned that this video is the first one that had a budget of more than $1000. However, initially he wanted to rent a hangar, but justt the rental fee would have blown his budget.
No lip sync. This is live. Listen to the album version. Totally different
