Jesus 🧡think about it SELF SACRIFICE. I don't know but I see origins in the story. Genesis persay. The trigger is motivation or reasoning within the mind so as in the idea of and then.........yes the cycle begins again & again. It's the power of circles like cells like atoms it's MATTER OF FACT. When BP said "Take that money bag of your head", I had a light bulb moment. The bag over the head isn't just to show a visual metaphor of people being faceless and a part of the money game, but also to show that our minds are more valuable than money. It's something that big corporations look to "steal", in the same way a robber would steal cash from a till.

I think that one of the important things Ren points to in this amazing piece, is that much of Jimmy's trajectory came from trying to gain his father's approval, and the conditioning he (and all of us) was given, that fed into his value system.
There are cycles in life, but so many of them are cycles of trauma - be it intergenerational, cultural, familial - cycles of abuse that are meant to be broken. That's what Money Game always seems to be asking me - how can we begin cycles of healing instead of harm? We have normalized so much of what goes on in the world today, as if it is our nature. And it's not. But it means remembering and connecting to the truth that we aren't separate...there are no sides. We are all part of the problems, but that also means we all have the potential to be part of the solutions to making our world a better place. Sorry for the ramble.

I love the behind the scenes story of this song. Yamaha provided the piano for free, and it was the most expensive piano that Ren had ever played. So in a lot of the down time Ren and Charlie (the pianist who played the piano for the song) would just play the piano. I can relate to that. I will never forget the time i went to a piano showroom and played a piano that was worth £400K! I wasn't aware of the cost at the time. I just played the piano for about half an hour and told the guy "Wow, i love this piano! Can i buy it? How much is it? When he told me it was *four hundred thousand pounds* I didn't dare touch it again!

My take: the money game creates weapons. It also creates physical and mental pain that we experience in life (whether self inflicted or put on us by others), so it’s a weapon in itself. Double entendre.
The trigger sound at the end obviously has a meaning within the story, but pulling the trigger on a money game could be destroying its power over you by changing your perspective. Rather than physically pulling the trigger against your head, it could be flipping a switch in your brain and saying ‘hey, I’m not gonna let this run my life anymore’. Money is something we need in today’s society, but by minimising greed and thirst for power, we get to enjoy the little things like running down the street as a kid and spending time with loved ones. That’s winning the game.

@@thehangingparsiple5692 When the camera reaches the back of the wheelchair everything goes black. That is where the cut is made. When doing this kind of invisible cuts you're looking for one of two things: A very shadow part of the footage or a part with a straight line (a tree, a building corner or a door like they did in Murderer Video: there is a cut at the moment when Ren is leaving the building and going outside, they used the dorway to make the cut). But in this case they used both: The straight line of the side of the wheelchair and the dark shadow of the wheelchair. The fact that they combined these two techniques make it easier to hide the cut. But didn't work as well at the mirror part when Ren removes the bag from his head.

If you watch Knox's interview with Sam you will get behind the scenes shots that shows the camera man and the rig he is wearing which is connected to a vest, that has the camera on it to get those spinning shots and other smooth shots. All in a huge warehouse.❤

    Hi.
Don't normally sign in but have to say thanks for being you and doing what you do.
Your reactions are thought provoking and your openness is a treat to watch.
Like Ren, you manage to keep it real, but still entertain & inform.
I came here first because of Ren. I stay here [mostly lurking silently] because of what you do and how you do it.
Don't change a thing [except perhaps that beat skip in the Boys Are Back In Town intro 😀]
I've learned an awful lot about Rap & Hip Hop since Hi Ren dropped last December and also learned a lot about human beings. Music has been with me since I was five years old and is more important to me than food [even Mushy Pease]. It never gets boring as there's always someone else to discover.
Ren's path and the people that have intersected with it and the amazing bonds it has created between people from all over the world but will probably never meet give me hope for the human race.
One day, maybe just maybe, we'll stop pointing fingers, creating bogeymen and dropping bombs and actually start to be what we should and could be if we all put our minds to being positive instead of negative. United we stand.
Big thanks to everybody involved in both the reactions and the reacted to.
One day we'll all be telling our Grandkids 'This was the first time I heard Hi Ren' ...

      Ello! How ya doing?
Had reply to part of your comment:-
"One day, maybe just maybe, we'll stop pointing fingers"
Because it reminded me of one of several wise words of advice, our beautiful mum taught us...
"When somebody is pointing the finger at others 👉
They are always pointing THREE at them selves☝️👈"
So thankfully, we was taught at an early age, critical thinking skills, respect, aswell as patience. That trio in life never seems to fail.
Nice to meet you. Have a great week. 👍

This is what I have stated on the official music video comment section:
I am reflecting simply of those already stated: a masterpiece of a man reborn to a status and level only obtained by those clearly enticed and embraced by the divine. He will show the world that the music has called, calling, caller to all. Forever a man who speaks to his soul. Forever a man who cannot take without love. We will be forever in his debt and never again shall we question that the game is most impressed.

The last "finger on the trigger of a money game."
Winning the money game literally killed 'Jimmy.'
Not only is the money game parasitic towards humanity, it also is corresive to your own happiness.
So the flip on (off-ing) self with the gun/trigger is with how his own actions led to his demise.

The actual quote is "the love of money is the root of all evil" which is accurate. Money itself is neither evil nor good but people make sacrifices for what they love and what people who love money sacrifice is genuinely evil. Especially if their only goal is get more money at any cost and never being satisfied no matter how much they have. That's why so many of the richest people in the world have the largest pile of skeletons in there closet and some of those skeleton are not at all metaphorical. Take the people who get rich off the cobalt trade, what are they sacrificing? The lives of children who die a horrible death. Children who are enslaved to mine cobalt in conditions worse than just about any human history. Children they have never met, never seen and know nothing about except that their wealth is dependent on the death of those children and yet they make that sacrifice, many of them even have kids of their own, even though they have so much money they could change it but they don't. Every electronic device that has anything to do with cobalt was only possible because of the death of children. That's what the love of money is, exploitation and death.

“I always chase, numbers, statistics or stats - you guys get it, right” - “I always chase numbers, statistics or stats… it’s horrible”. That’s his point.
We all have our finger on the trigger of the money game. We are born into it. I think Rens point, and I agree, we have choice and freewill to create something other. However, we will have to awaken a value of care and love for self and other - that surpasses “chasing numbers, statistics or stats”.

Classic oldschool technique from the innovators, Orson Wells, and Alfred Hitchcock: See Hitchcock's Rope (1948) for a whole film done in ten cuts.

The genius of the lyrics, the film works , fact that it is done in 1 take. The Dad encouraged the idea that it’s when you stop the chase you’re no longer a “man”. The son always telling his dad he’s got more and more money and the dad reply is it will never be enough. When Ren says “stop the entertainment” he is saying that all of us are in the money game whether we like it or not. We need money just to live, feed ourselves, keep our children fed. And in these times with social media so prevalent it’s so much easier to see what others have and for us to covet what others have that we want.
So we’re all in the money game.

I love Ren, this is a great work of art. He is right pointing out the hypocrisy in the world and the flaws of a capitalist system. Great art is thought provoking and encourages dialogue. Although it is flawed, there is a certain amount of choice in that system, you can create in that system and vote etc. I don't know what Ren's idea of utopia is, the utopian idea cannot and has never worked as we are all flawed human beings. Once you bring in a system like that, you have no creativity, no free will, no ability to vote it out and no inspiration or ability to think and create. Can we all make personal choices about how we behave and how we treat each other, absolutely. Can we teach our children good values, yes.Just don't get fooled by the idea of utopia, anyone who has been to the Killing fields in Cambodia knows how that turns out.

    • @2TRUTH4SAUCE2
      @2TRUTH4SAUCE2 10 місяців тому

I don't disagree for the most part. I would only like to point out it's not the capitalist system that's at fault maybe. It's the Fractional Reserve banking practices that have slowly strangled the vast majority, generation after generation. While the few at the top benefit from the monster they themselves created. Capitalism can not be free and fair when it's being rigged via a monetary system designed to enslave us using perpetual debt and perpetual inflation, both built into it. Devaluing the few dollars we have, devaluing our time and labor one deposit at a time. Without the monopoly over our money, they would lose their foot hold on us imo. Just some thoughts..
      MUCH ❤

Politics is NOT just the "things for the clever elits" and all the electoral game, politics is just talking about our society, and learning and debating, and discussing about what is going on, and what do we want for our future, and he's creating space for those discussion: it's not pretentious, sanctimonious or guilt-inducing, it's just, "hey, remember of those fact? The first time he sings, it's the first few notes of Violet's Tale, but it changes. Someone else pointed out that Screech & Jimmy's lives started the same (an innocent baby being born, called James) but quickly turned out differently due to their home environment. I always thought the singing was Violet's ghost, but now I think it could be the baby's spirit wondering what their being born into.
