@@oof9090 are there any 7 seat SUVs with an equivalent equipment level, making over 200bhp with a DSG box for £35k new (list)? Just curious where the benchmark £35k is coming from. In reality it probably will sell around £38k after discount, which seems quite good value to me.
Just bought one! I test-drove thinking I was definitely going to get a Ford Edge (the S-Line has more or less the same diesel engine anyway) and wasn't expecting much from this car. Boy was I surprised. It's actually brilliant, in a slightly bonkers kind of way. In Meteor Grey it has a 'wolf in sheep's clothing' look about it - nobody expects a large, grey, dull 7-seater Skoda to be quick. The interior is lovely and comes with loads of premium kit as standard (lots of people told me to go for a Tiguan Allspace, but on paper I can't understand why anyone would choose that over this). As for the badge? Well, I traded in a Jag for this, so Skoda must be doing something right. EDIT: And yes - I bought it through Carwow. Cheers!
@@seb. Yep. I'm glad Matt also pointed out the little 'extras' that you get with Skodas, like the umbrellas etc. I looked at pretty much every VW Group alternative as well as Ford (as mentioned); the F-Pace and the Discovery Sport, and whilst I'm sure there are technically better 7-seaters out there (Audi SQ7 for example... at double the price and more...), nothing comes with as much premium stuff as standard as this does. A bit pricey for a Skoda, maybe, but it was better than the £40k+ Audis, Jags and Land Rovers I also test-drove, and the Ford Edge (once you've specced it to a similar trim level as this) is even dearer than this.
@@Razvion I know, right? The Discovery Sport was a serious consideration for a while. I dismissed the Evoque because for such a big-ish car it actually doesn't have a lot of boot space. The Kodiaq's interior is nice in that typically 'VW Group' kind of way, but the vRS' interior is a whole other level. It's so nice, and the seats are so comfortable. I realise i'm preaching to the converted, but just putting it out there for the record. And as you said: It does drive beautifully. The Discovery feels like you're driving a van; it feels bigger than it actually is. The Kodiaq is the opposite: it drives like a large Estate car, and it's not until you look around you that you remember you're in a Fortress-on-Wheels.

Carwow reviews are pretty much the best car reviews. I find Matt's reviews always quite down to earth and honest. I can't remember ever thinking there being a bias on any review, unlike other reviews and car shows. Why is he not the new Top Gear presenter. Way better than the egors that they have had recently. Anyways - Skoda Kodiak VRS with a not so fast diesel engine that only gets 35mpg.... Why?!
Only thing that i dont like about Volvo its that they only have 2.0L 4 cylinders engines... Maybe Volvo is not cool but its for sure better than this one, if i would ever buy an SUV i would get a XC90 or a Cayenne.
As the proud owner of a 2017 Skoda Kodiaq 4x4 2.0 TDI SCR vehicle, I can identify with much of what the VRS has, except, I don't have the umbrella in the door, I only have 150 ps and I only have 5 seats, which means that I have plenty of room in the luggage compartment. My average mileage from a 70 Ltr tank of diesel is 800 Km, which I find more than sufficent , and as I drive often between southern Europe & England, I only require 2.5 tanks of diesel, compared to 4 tanks with my previous car. Acceleration is surprisingly quick, and have found that my car has no problem hitting the 220 Kmh speed, which is awesome for a vehicle of this size, and the best news was that my car usually costs €42.975 , but as I got a special deal, it cost €35,000, including built-in towbar, dog net. etc.
Wow that's impressive. This thing ties with a Chevrolet Traverse AWD with the 300-horse gasoline V6 to sixty, which is very impressive. And I love the rough-and-tumble diesel clatter to match sedan-spec handling. My favorite part is the steering, though, because not even a 2-liter Accord SPORT SEDAN can do 2 turns lock-to-lock! Very good, Skoda!!!

The petrol 2.0 version makes more sense to me, in fact that's what I bought. It's not really noticeably slower than the vRS, economy is about the same and petrol engine is generally more pleasant to drive. Neither the 2.0 or vRS are particularly amazing/fun to drive but petrol 2.0 is plenty quick enough for a 7 seater so don't see the point in paying extra for the vRS.
With the DCT, it programs as you go, so if you are doing a lot of those overtaking manouvers like you did, the gearbox will eventually respond faster after you've done it on the regular.
