A brothers friend of mine works for Volkswagen and has this car as his company car for the week, I believe it was some special edition the only one in Ireland currently and it is a machine, watching him stick this beast in launch mode and rip the ground up as this 400hp full size suv

Ive just picked my Cupra Ateca up this morning, i really hope i can keep my license because its rapid and handles amazing for an SUV. Obviously not as good as a hot hatch at handling but im impressed wouldnt of bought it if i wasnt.
I drive a Seat Ateca 1.4 tsi Xcellence and really like it. Notably, it has full leather seats (heated up front) as well as the nice stitching, flat bottomed steering wheel, 8" touch screen infotainment system, wireless charging and "pulsating stop/start button" 😁. On average it returns 45mpg and handles better than its other brand rivals even at this level. Sport mode is available which gives it a little more ooompf and tightens the steering if the mood strikes. Maybe a sign of being boring and sensible, but with all the speed cameras out there it's hard for me to see the advantage of accelerating any faster and suffering the low mpg/high annual tax figures of the Cupra. Enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work!
PhizzyP it will. The minivan boomed in the 80s because young buyers then didn’t want what their mummies and daddies drove-the estate. That led to the demise of the estate as a mainstream family car. Then by the 2000s, the generation who grew up around the minivan didn’t want the minivan anymore and thus migrated to the SUV and crossover. Soon enough when kids today grow up they won’t want hulking SUVs or hatchbacks on stilts and will move back to conventional saloons and estates.
As a new dad, I need to get a family car. Something high up and safe with boot space for a pram. When the baby isn't in the car, I want to have something fun to drive that is quick. This is a cheaper version of the SQ3.
It would be great if you displayed L/KM also with M/PG. You guys have international followers and it would help us a lot. I always have to pause and open up a new tab to do the calculation.
The logo does indeed look like tribal tatoo: cheap and drunk. Lovely car but not sure what they were thinking. Also some trim details look very cheap like the fake carbon fiber.
Then just imagine how much stuff is packed unnoticed into these engines to make them profitable. Its like PC processors. they are all the same except for some software or hardware lock on them. they only change pricetag.
They brought in a pair of comedians who aren't exactly petrolheads. Clarkson, Hammond and May were true petrolheads, but it just so happens that they're also quite witty. I honestly think LeBlanc and Rory did a much better job than the current pair.
This thing is quick - 4.4 Sec to 100Km/h in a 5 seater SUV with 4 wheel drive for about 33 British K´s - I find that quite impressive even that I do not fancy SUV´s. I do look quite decent for an SUV - good stance and a simple sharp profile.

I test drive this one. It is a really good ride. Probably for someone who needs/wants SUV but also wants a sporty car. In Switzerland, new ones can be had already from 45'000CHF, ABT prepared ones are at 47'000+. For the same money, there is not so much of the choice there. For about 10K more you might get Audi SQ2 or Jaguar E-Pace or Volvo XC60. However, if 280PS is enough for you then you might want to check Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q4 that is about the same price. And I think, those two are direct competition, but also different takes on that segment. I would go for Stelvio as the interior just feels much better.
Fuck I don't know how this homie is the best and most detailed car reviewer whilst simultaneously being the funniest as well, seems like just an all round top bloke, "always colour code your dog to your car interior" ahhaah
*If those are the worst five points about this car, who cares? For around £35k you're getting a genuine performance SUV. Okay, so it might not be quite as fast as the Alfa SUV in a straight line, but a 0 - 60mph time of under 4.7 seconds puts most Range Rover Sports models to the test. And let's not forget that the (uglier looking) Alfa is twice the price of the Cupra Ateca. I think this is a great car!*
Seat's design team must have been looking back over old Max Power magazines when designing this one. "Replacing the stock badge with a cool tribal logo would look great!" I fear they're going to take the Seat Leon Cupra down this tacky route too, that'd be a shame.
Foto4Max what? Cupra had their “R” logo which was far more subtle and classy than what’s taken its place. And no history? They haven’t even been around for 70 years and they’ve been pretty significant in motorsport having competed in multiple rally and touring car series’s. On top of that they’ve made some pretty memorable cars through their history developing a large following. I don’t even particularly like seat/VAG cars and I know this. You can dislike a brand without being blindly ignorant.

If anyone doesn’t know what ABT is, look at then online... they’re a German company which basically puts standard cars on steroids, Audi’s, seats and vw vans and more. They’re super expensive and they’re kits are not worth it, buy a standard ABT car for a high price and it’ll be worth it. Not many are made of each one so you have to be careful not to go too fast otherwise their repair shop starts at a few grand just to look at it . Oh and btw, the vehicles are loud 😂
