Thanks Autogefuhl Team. I live in Ghana 🇬🇭, and our on roads are literally off roads. I had a Skoda Octavia 2.0, very solid car. I was looking forward to getting the Toyota Land Cruiser J70, but I'll rather go for the Skoda Kodiaq RS. God bless you profusely. I really appreciate this Review.
A real outdoor adventure that I enjoyed watching. I have to say I like the way this vehicle looks - whether it's covered in mud or not. The ground clearance doesn't look all that much but it seems capable enough.
It's so strange watching this man reviewing cars, it's like being there at the passenger seat with him. Simple warm nice chat along the road. Great review. Love the car!
Thank you for your review you speak very clearly and concisely and your review was very well delivered. I wish other reviewers follow your lead. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks, Autogefuhl team. Another thorough review. As for the car - it does a decent job. Sure, if I had to drive these tracks every day, I would opt for anything in the class of Mitsubishi L200 and Toyota Hilux. But it's good to know that your family SUV is perfectly capable to take you mushroom picking or fishing occasionally.
Had a 4wheel skoda yeti with the haldex clutch. Then had a 2006 jeep wrangler TJ and then a 98 cherokee xj with a 6 inch long arm lift, rear lockers and swaybar disconnect. Then realized that "offroad" means different things. Skoda builds solid vehicles but the only time i took the yeti into a sandy patch, got stuck. All these vechiles are excellent city cars with imaginary offroad abilities. The imaginary capabilities is what gives the buyer a kick. And then these kind of vidoes that show it being driven in very controlled environments. All advertisements are on controlled environments build specifically with max range of capabilities of the vechile. But again, its a super solid urban city long highway rides. And its awesome value for money. Nothing beats the yeti top gear review. But please dont oversell the off road worthiness of these vechiles, i know many who burnt their clutches trying to test their imagination in the rea world.
Why is it whenever you see one of these videos there’s always some sad individual with an ancient solid axle jeep going on about how they aren’t proper off roaders. No one cares about your shitty old jeep that rides terribly on the road and is unfit for 99.99999% of the use people do with it.
Brian: at 35:54: "Not quite as tight and aggressive as I would like!" Then raves about it: "I'm very impressed with this car!" He makes it sound unique, but a total-spec Tiguan SEL Outdoor Pack is cheaper, shorter, has a better approach angle, more ground clearance, HUD, Active Info Display and Active Bonnet, plus a light coloured interior option!
Great Review; for once a practical no frills genuine off road film showing a genuine trial, thank you Brian and Jonas, now for a similar look at the Kodiaq which I intend to try.
Took one of these on what turned out to be 40km hiking trail, in Bosnia. I was amazed at how it made it. It was basically the side of a mountain. This was all on standard road tyres. This car would definitely benefit from some floor pan/sump protection, for added peace of mind, though we never actually grounded out, which again I found pretty amazing, as the ground clearance isn't massive.
It is not a hardcore off road vehicle so car is needed. Its VW four wheel drive system means it would an excellent off road vehicle but you need to be carefully so as to not be too rough with it.
Thanks. A review I've been waiting for. Better than expected performance, considering the tyres. I didn't realise ride height difference was wheel related. One question - did any cars have DCC and what difference did it make on the various surfaces tested on?
Hey Brian!! Great review and an even greater off road trip!! I have Kodiaq at the top of my next car list! So, I’d like to ask you if I should choose the DSG edition or the manual! I think DSG should work perfectly with driving mode selection and DCC! Your view would be much appreciated!!! Thank you!!!!
Brian , you are the best reviewer of the Autogefhul, very informative,a thumb before Tomhas :) and Autogefuhl is the best in carreviews..Ordinary cars, suvs, hatchbacks, mpv's, i hope you can review the the new citroen berlingo..have a love for french cars :)
Great job, Jonas and Brian! Nice voice cameo, AJ! I really enjoyed watching the Kodiaq Scout offroad review. Keep it up! Just a comment to the volume control wheel on the steering wheel - on the Skoda Octavia III you can both pause and replay the music using it, just press once to pause (while the music is playing) and press again to replay. I wonder why that didn't work on your test vehicle. Skoda should definitely keep that very simply clever function on all their cars. One question - have you test driven a Kodiaq with a manual gearbox and 4-wheel drive? How does it perform? Look forward to more. Cheers, Govind
Nice video again! I wonder how nonDCC would have done. Also you're underselling the Haldex: eg. no more slipping tires as you start from a stop (on wet or even dry roads as would FWD would do) Just sad Skoda was too cheap on the door panels, interior handles are squeeking
Hi, great job! I wonder as far I understand scout is just trim level? As I may take ordinary Kodiaq and put off rod selection button, put additional underneath plastics?
I can see you keep fiddling with the wipers stick. Why didn't you put it into 'auto' Brian? Is it a bit of a faff just like the adaptive cruise control? Thank you.
It only has 194mm ground clearance. That is not enough ground clearance for quite a few off road situations. Permanent 4 wheel drive is better than the Haldex All Wheel Drive system.
Bought an Subaru Outback recently (for a much better price btw). When I see the weakness of this Kodiaq, so called Scout version, with ground clearance below 20 and capable driving a bit rough terrain (there was no off-road in the video), I know, I have chosen the better car. The review itself was well made by the guys, making the car actually better than it is.
that's not 'really' off road. That road can be driven with a front wheel drive Berlingo. Only the muddy part could be a problem, but then again, you where stuck also
Want a serious off reader form winter roads or off road.... Land Cruiser. New models are a lot more refined on road, but haven’t lost any off road capability
Regular Dacia can go same road but cost 1/4 of this Kodiaq. This is very nice car bit 30% too expensive and of course it is no off road car but typical SUV or high Combi.
Depends where you're from and the models available in that market I suppose but in the UK (and I imagine in other european countries) you can get a 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Invincible for the price of the vehicle being tested in the video. So Land Cruiser Price Range - Yes.
I have a land cruiser and a smart fortwo. You cannot mention any VW group vehicle in the same breath as a land cruiser. It drives like a limo on long motor way trips across Europe. It has an integrated fridge/cool box plus roof mounted dvd screen for the kids. It has a 230v normal sized plug socket in the boot so you can actually use it for overnight camping etc. It can climb mountains and Ford rivers... It can even get you up a motorway embankment and across marshy farmland in eastern Europe to avoid traffic jams without a moments hesitation.., it has dynamic height adjustable suspension. . It has two locking differentials...Oh and you can park up at the Ritz in Paris and they will know that you belong there! That is a real off road and classy vehicle. At 50k!!!? This Skoda is a joke! !
It's just a VW TIGUAN with a different body. Same engine /running gear. So if the Tiguan is highly capable off road and it is then surely this will be to.. 👍👍

There seem to be quite some people having a HUGE problem if someone just says Macedonia to FYROM, maybe you should understand that foreigners cannot know about local sensitivities in such extent.
In some months maybe you can call it by a new official name North Macedonia, maybe not. But just "macedonia" is a Greek name for a greek region that speaks the language of Alexander the Macedonian (the Great).
@@autogefuehl Thanks. I'm referring to the black plastic trim over the wheel arches. I think they are on ALL Kodiaq models, not just Scout. The Scout looks great but is a little disappointing as the 'tough model'. The ground clearance is no greater than the other models (depending upon which wheels you spec.) It has the RR package but that is optional on ALL other models. It has different bumper trim but it's just for looks - why didn't Skoda increase approach/departure angles like with the Tiguan Allspace off road bumpers? I think a missed opportunity for Skoda and perhaps devalues the "Scout" label. I would have loved it more if it had a genuine extra 10-15mm clearance and aggressive looking bumper design like the Jeep 'Trailhawk' models.

Technically, in Bulgaria even driving on the highway is considered offroad, so you could add some high-speed driving next time :)

I have a Kodiaq Scout since 1,5 year and I love it. Sure the tires do matter a lot, but i only got stuck one times and I drive very much offroad.
I recommend the Pirelli Centuro they are some of the best rain, low noise, durability tires

Maybe it depends on which music source u play? (Carply, bluetooth, radio...)

In Denmark they pronaunce Kodiaq as Ko.jak which is like the 70es series with Telly Savalas

If you are using 235/50/19'' tyres in an off road trip, it is no surprise that you got a flat tyre...
Bravo Brian, great review.
thanks !!
I like the roof storage equipment. What is it? I just got my kodiaq and i am searching for stuff to pimp it 😃

what kind of tires was the kodiaq wearing?
Why is the Water coolant black? :O is the turbo or the engine already dying?
