Lyrics:
The air is getting hotter
There’s a rumbling in the skies
I’ve been wading through the high muddy water
With the heat rising in my eyes
Every day your memory grows dimmer
It doesn’t haunt me like it did before
I’ve been walking through the middle of nowhere
Trying to get to heaven before they close the door
When I was in Missouri
They would not let me be
I had to leave there in a hurry
I only saw what they let me see
You broke a heart that loved you
Now you can seal up the book and not write anymore
I’ve been walking that lonesome valley
Trying to get to heaven before they close the door
And when you Think you've Lost Everything, you find out you can Lose a Little more....Indeed.
"When you think that you've lost everything
You find out you can always lose a little more"
Who can right a line like that no one but Dylan 🎸🏴👍😄
Esas son las mejores frases de la canción,las más duras y cuando pone más fuerza
Very true. We never stop thinking how badly off we are and never realizing how good we have it. And to be careful not to destroy it.
@@paulhammer1363 It's certainly been lifted from somewhere, but with Dylan, It's never about a single line, it's the concoction of beauty unfolding before you. The world-weary sneer, the Ornette Coleman approach to harmonica and imagery that rivals Rimbaud. But then again, he says so much with so little. "I was riding in a buggy with Miss Mary Jane, Miss Mary Jane got a house in Baltimore." I've never taken a ride in a buggy, I sure as hell have never been near Baltimore yet I feel I know exactly what he means.
Lost from the start
"Time Out of Mind" has to be my favorite Dylan album. It received awards in 1998, one award being album of the year.
It is probably my favorite album.
It's almost as good as blood on the tracks, but perhaps not quite. Love and Theft is also equally amazing
i think it was 97 but still...it beat OK Computer (Radiohead) which is still also one of the greatest albums of all time. the man is simply genius. this song in particular breaks my heart in all the best ways ❤️
I agree.... love this album....
The older I get....the more I understand these lyrics....
So true
The wailing harmonica gets me every time
Me too
Absolutely ❤!
Ela encaixou numa despedida que a pessoa a quem eu me despedia não fazia ideia de era uma.
Metro ❤
By far one of the best albums ever I can't listen to it enough
One of The Master's many many masterpieces. His Bobness--accept no substitutes.
Nobel Prize quality prose poem put to a beautiful, haunting melody. This song is so personally touching.
Tell me everything is going to alright but don't know alright even means. I close my eyes I wander. Greatest song writer ever❤
'trying to get to heaven before they close the door'. good thinking.
"They tell me everything's gonna be alright, I don't know what alright even means".
I've been there.
Currently cradling this song in my heart 💟
Noone combines lyrics, theme and music quite as masterly as Bob Dylan.
One of the most beautiful songs ever
Isn't it just
I agree
It sends shivers down my spine ..I love Bob and is poetry
This will be played on Bob Dylan's funeral
It's not dark yet I'm sure, and I'm glad I'm born in Time, ❤️
👍
"I don't even know what 'alright' even means....well this is more than alright, much more. is everything as hollow as it seems...this song has lots of great lyrics.
Absolutely fantastic, Bob at his best. You broke a heart that loves you know you can seal up the book and not write anymore, stunning lyrics
Finally! My favorite Dylan's song! What a amazing lyrics!
😁👏👏👏
He is the heavy weight world champion song writer of all time. And he will never be matched.
My favorite Dylan´s song to. What a amazing lyrics...
I'm off my head now in Thailand listening to this masterpiece
Sheer Musical Genius.
I love the vibe of this song.... So easy to listen to but still hard to define
One of my favourite Dylan's song...actually the entire "The time out mind" is amazing! ❤❤
Inspired by the Yom Kippur Neilah service, when we try to get our prayres accepted before the closing of the Gates of Heaven at the end of Yom Kippur.
Love that song with a touch of gallows humour - heard in so many arrangements but that song never loses meaning..It's always a highlight
Lucinda Williams does a great cover of this song worth a listen.
@@stephengaydos4346 Yes , it s a great version...know it
Ever since Bob's voice change, on John Wesley Harding and onwards, i have appreciated he just allows his vocals to just ....be.
My favorite Dylan song.
Some songs say it so well all you can do is listen
A beautiful masterpiece.
"People on the platforms, waiting on the trains
I can hear their hearts a-breathin, like pendulums swingin' on chains"
🧡👍
After a really muddled 80s and early 90s Bob has had a great late-inning rally. Such a great song, as inventive as anything he's done. It took him a little while but her found his mature voice.
I love this song it truly resonates with me in so many ways and experiences. I love “Time Out Of Mind so much and I’m hoping this time the rumours of releasing a bootleg are true!🙌♥️
WHAT A TRACK! Haven't heard this in ages. LOVE LOVE LOVE 🌹
WOOOW THE AMOUNT OF EUPHORIA THIS SONG GIVES ME IS AMAZING
The cry of the end times
Awesome. And true
.no one wants to go to hell
Great song by Bob Dylan. Love from a fan of yours Adam. I hope you have a great night tonight Bob Dylan. Keep up the great work you are doing Bob Dylan. I really love your music videos Bob Dylan.
Love this brilliant song, singer's voice and humor always and forever.❤
Great song
Love this track one of the best
It's kinda Beautiful
In these times of strife Dylan knows where it’s at
A gift from heaven
I am in love with this song 😢❤
Even the great Bob Dylan has to contemplate his own mortality, here and in It's Not Dark Yet.
It gives me a bit of peace as I get older; I also am trying to get to heaven, before they close the door.
Oleg, I hope you know that heaven is a free gift, no works will get you there. There is only one way, one truth..... and it is not by your effort.
@@gdpcpa Yes, I know. It was just a pondering upon a song, not to be taken too literally - hyperbolic.
Another great song from this genius.
He will go to heaven!
And this song will be played on his funeral
.......some things are just pristine and perfect as they are.....your voice......these sentiments.......perfection! Oh Boots, you incredible man!!!
How does Bob Dylan have less than 2 million subscribers? Luke Bryan and Future's entire discography don't even contain the substance of one line in this song. What fuckin planet am I on?
Joshua it's because a lot people don't understand his lyrics 🏴👍🎸
When I listen to this, I think it's Dylan's greatest song, until I listen to another Dylan song.
Por isso que sou sua fã , em suas letras sempre uma incógnita, isso me fascina. Obrigada você é demais.
Love this voice here
I am proud Dylan recorded this album in my hometown Oxnard. At the old Teatro movie theater. And willie nelson recorded his album teatro. American Icons !!! I can relate to thus song.awsome
Bowie did a very respectful cover, which was released as a very limited 7" with a version of Lennon's Mother. Stunning.
Didn’t know that. Thx for the info. X
I’m going to post this again… but I was going thru an old CD case and ran across Time Out Of Mind. I thought I had won the lottery. Pulled it out of the case and turned it over. Didn’t have a scratch on it. Played it 3-4 times over and over.. without a single commercial..
Brilliant
I've been to sugartown/I've shook the sugar down/now I'm tryin to get to heaven before they close the door
Oh! Meu Deus , que música mais linda não me canso de ouvir.
Thank you Maria, I fully agree with you, it is a stunningly beautiful song full of meaning and yes hope

Want YOU to know Mr. Dylan that Od woke me up in the middle of the night with make you me feel my love. This Album. YOU. I was given a ticket to see you Live in Concert in Savannah, Ga a few years ago at the Johnny Mercer Auditorium. A night I will treasure always. Truly.
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
My theme song
C a p o l a v o r o . . . Bob, the Man!
Een popmuzikant die zich NOOIT laat afschrijven... "You broke a heart that loved you", wie kent dat niet? Hij zingt hier ook gewoon fantastisch!
Absolutely love it, Love You .. but I ain’t gonna like 👍 to clock it up to the number of today 🙏🏽
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.

Greatest song ever

You find out you can always lose a little more
I'm just going down the road feeling bad
Tryin', tryin' to get to heaven before they close, close the door
🎵🎶🎵🎶
I'm going down the river
Down to New Orleans
They tell me everything is gonna be all right
But I don't know what "all right" even means
I was riding in a buggy with Miss Mary-Jane
Miss Mary-Jane got a house in Baltimore
I been all around the world, boys
Now I'm trying to get to heaven before they close the door
Gonna sleep down in the parlour
And relive my dreams
I'll close my eyes and I wonder
If everything is as hollow as it seems
Some trains don't pull no gamblers
No midnight ramblers, like they did before
I been to Sugar Town, I shook the sugar down
Now I'm trying to get to heaven before they close the door
DANKESCHÖN 👍😻
This is so beautifull
Thank you !
Dont try, if you are worthy Ill meet you there
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
Your welcome@@Carlossantanamusicinc
Aren’t we all trying to get to heaven before they close the door? Our earthly moments can set the stage for our spiritual journeys and Bob Dylan masterfully taps into our greatest desires by weaving his own needs into our own hearts with lyrics and melody🎶💞🌈🥰
There is no heaven man, don't let them fool you
My sister "got it" from this song a short time before she passed.
Tryin to get to sleep before the tiredness drives me to tears
Essa talvez seja a minha canção favorita de Bob Dylan.
Love💎
Don't you get the memo he's a loving god
I’ve seen the original print of the album cover photograph - it’s in an album in Toronto , thanks IRG !
Fuçk..! How good is this...?
Nobelist for literature Kazuo Ishiguro says this is his favorite Dylan song. Interesting choice.
Wow voice here. Beauuutyfull

What a song when BOB dies I want to be 5 metres behind him 😀
💫✨🌟⚡️
The party is not over. But, I don't turn the "Open Sign" around much these days. I will be seeing you when the autumn leaf's turn color. Perhaps, then we could be something who knows. No one come's knocking around here anymore.😎
Esta canción deja lleno de júbilo a este oyente
