    Lyrics:
    [Verse 1]
    The air is getting hotter
There’s a rumbling in the skies
I’ve been wading through the high muddy water
With the heat rising in my eyes
Every day your memory grows dimmer
It doesn’t haunt me like it did before
I’ve been walking through the middle of nowhere
Trying to get to heaven before they close the door
    [Verse 2]
    When I was in Missouri
They would not let me be
I had to leave there in a hurry
I only saw what they let me see
You broke a heart that loved you
Now you can seal up the book and not write anymore
I’ve been walking that lonesome valley
Trying to get to heaven before they close the door
    [Verse 3]
    People on the platforms
    Waiting for the trains
I can hear their hearts a-beatin’
    Like pendulums swinging on chains
When you think that you've lost everything
You find out you can always lose a little more
I’m just going down the road feeling bad
Trying to get to heaven before they close the door
    [Verse 4]
    I’m going down the river
    Down to New Orleans
They tell me everything is gonna be all right
But I don’t know what “all right” even means
I was riding in a buggy with Miss Mary-Jane
Miss Mary-Jane got a house in Baltimore
I been all around the world, boys
Now I’m trying to get to heaven before they close the door
    [Verse 5]
Gonna sleep down in the parlor
    And relive my dreams
I’ll close my eyes and I wonder
If everything is as hollow as it seems
Some trains don't pull no gamblers
No midnight ramblers like they did before
I been to Sugar Town, I shook the sugar down
Now I’m trying to get to heaven before they close the door
    About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

Yeah I get you, but I think it’s important to remember that the music and art he made carries on and left an important impact on the world and on many people. I think he has a much more beautiful, real and important place to be and that's in our "hearts" and memories.
When we listen to him he lives.
when we talk about/ discuss him, as here, he lives.
He doesn't need now or ever to be turned into something or someone he wasn't.
He wasn't Christian, he had a Buddhist burial/ funeral.
Let's miss him and wish he hadn't died so ridiculously, unfairly early but not change him or wish him to fit in with our own vision or version of what/ who he was.
Let's not put "magic" into his "eternity" let's make the fact he lived the length of time he did its own magic.
I see no point to invent or assume more than the tiny possibility of his existence we can know.
Like others I miss him being in the world more than is reasonable or sensible, especially as I never knew him, met him or even saw him live.
I've been listening to his music since I was 14/ 15 I'm now in my early 50's.
The loss I feel at his death is massive and at times like this almost too much to comprehend.

You are NOT living in a realm without him, not anybody else. He IS here around, but on another frequency, thus you can't perceive him. By our own eyes, we catch only the minimum of 0,3 - 0,9 of frequency, Just imaging the moment when we will be able to capture the wider range of frequency, by the application of gadgets we are constructing right now! Hence - we will be able to communicate with ANYBODY. I vouch you that.

We stopped at a balcony and pushed a boulder with some effort over the edge, watching curiously as it crushed a sports car below. It was a wonderfully real-feeling consoling but not emotional dream, it finished for me a stretch of grieving him and others 💕

I always loved David bowie. He had the best voice. So haunting. And perfect. I do wish he was still here. But he is in a good place now. Our heaven above. I like this song. Rip Starman

I was 16 in '76 and went to my first concert- Bowie at the garden in nyc. Thin white duke tour - f@#king changed my life. Thought I heard most of his rarities and outtakes etc. Then this appears. Not surprising even this long after his passing that you get something totally cool and different from the man.

I love this song. One legend covering another. This song is incredible. No offense to Bob Dylan but this is Bowies song the moment he recorded it. Even years later, still his. This man orchestrated his own death. He worked behind the scenes and planned it all. There won't be another death as artistic as Bowies. He turned his death his final performance. Like Lazarus, he rose from the dead through his music. Legendary.

I’m a huge Bowie fan but this isn’t as good as the original. Dylan’s delivery is full of pathos that only the author could manage.
