    Did that in 1972 on a husky cr250 with a cotton strip and Vaseline. Yes it works.

    Great info, tbh I've never thought about cross hatching on the stanchions before, if I've had any nicks or high spots I've always used some wet n dry 1200 very lightly rubbing but I would have been doing it it a cylinder type motion possibly creating the cross hatch effect albeit a very light one with the grade off paper I was using, never had any issues this is on road bikes.

    I've always 'lightly' packed that void between the seals with grease. Not only to keep the dirt out but to prevent the snap ring from rusting.
    The foam is a good idea though.

    I've been polishing my fork for years, so much less stiction and seals last 150-200 hrs/ few oil changes. I use more coarse than 400 on mine.

    Is the foam the type that would be used for a mx bike air filter? Just trying to figure out what type of foam to buy. Thanks

    Is there a point to drill a hole 2024 Ktm exc fork tube AS well? There are 3 holes from Factory near top of the tube...

      Absolutely......The location of the hole is more relevant than the size. The pressure (both negative and positive) is being generated just behind the seal. The closer you get to the point of actuation the more effective it is.

    Wd40 being petrolium based doesn't affact the rubber seals?, I would assume maybe little bit of fork oil would be better. But I guess for jo blow buying container of fork oil just to soak foam is bit overkill.

      The base oil that creates fork oil is petroleum based and most hydraulic seals are designed to resist hydraulic fluids.....there really is no problem with WD40

    Great video as always 👍🏼
    Whats your opinion on compression on the forks for transportation?
    My van is a bit low so I need to compress the forks by a ratchetstrap and sometimes leave it in the van over night before a race. Is the springs or forks gonna suffer for this? Or is it a non issue really? Ive heard alot of rumours about this over the years that the springs will get softer etc..

    Doesn't that foam increase the friction on the fork?

    • @shocktreatment5495
      @shocktreatment5495  3 місяці тому +1

      As mentioned in the video...the foam is penetrated with lubricant...therefore reducing friction.

    Is 400 grit not to much?

    • @andrewberg2361
      @andrewberg2361 3 місяці тому +2

      I would say not if Terry is using it .

    • @shocktreatment5495

      We usually use 400 followed by 800. If the tube is really bad we may even start with 240 and move through the grit range.
