I just finished reading a book about WW2. A true story of brothers from a Japanese family. Several were drafted into Japan's military, one was in the US, and enlisted in our military. They were all terribly mistreated due to their ties to the other country. I learned a lot I never knew about the war from the perspective of both sides. So as dumb as this might sound, this video was released at a perfect time for me to see some representation of what I just read. Especially the cut scenes that use real footage. Edit: The book is called "Midnight in Broad Daylight" for anyone who's curious.
Reading about that war is so grueling. It is a telling horror that, at the end of the game, its quote of 60 million people dying is actually a low estimate.
@@LazarouDave You could take it one of multiple ways. 1. "The bar" can refer to the profession of law as a whole as the term is used for the line between the courtroom spectators. 2. 5:15:24 This detail at the very end still hits so hard. CoD WaW put the cruelty on full display yet it's reading this that still sends a shiver down my spine.
I know, right? The main menu music after that (which is also the music that plays as you crawl through the fountain in 'Vendetta') really adds to it even more.
Another cool attention to detail is when they give you the 30 carbine (M1 Carbine), its supposed to be a weapon for non frontline / support / tankers it was supposed to be something cheaper lighter than the big daddy Garand. When you get it its told your low on supplies and ammo so I suppose you where using what guns you had ammo for and probably had a lot more 30 cal ammo than 45 AARP and 3006 so they give you the two guns that use 30 cal, the M1919 and 30 carbine
@@tac6557 The 1919 used .30-06 though, same as the Garand. .30 carbine was only used in the M1 carbine and specifically designed for it. You are right that that gun was issued to non-frontliners and vehicle crew who needed something relatively light and small (other than a handgun), but the Browning wouldn't fit that same role at all because it's almost as long as a Garand and 3 times as heavy, so I don't see why they would issue that to the same people as a carbine. I doubt a Browning would be able to fire .30 carbine even if you did, in a desperate pinch, use that instead of .30-06 because the number in the calibre name only corresponds to bullet diameter. It doesn't account for things like the length/diameter of the case (which is important for proper chambering and ejection) or powder charge (i.e. the ammo needs to detonate with enough force to cycle the bolt)

The best part to me about 29:13 is that it psyched Ray out. If he didn’t run back he probably would have survived, but the WaW AI tends to throw the grenades right next to you, so seeing it in the air made him panic and think he had to move away.
