12:03 Funny story: When I was playing this randomly one night my younger brother walk in and asks me to hand him my controller. So I did. He beat the level on 00 Agent in 2 minutes exactly on the first try and got the cheat for me! I was amazed and he treated it like it was no big deal. Then I hear Ray saying it is next to impossible for that to happen and now I am even more impressed! I honestly didn’t know I had such a god gamer of a brother.
God I miss this game, that soundtrack had no right to be as amazing as it was. Reminds me of waking up early on a sunday morning back in 97 just to hop on the N64 before anyone else could use the TV. And remember, plug into Channel 3.
omg I didn't know I needed this in my life. I just finished watching Ray's N64 run and it was so much fun to watch so nostalgic. I remember renting this from Blockbuster and then owning it and playing the hell out of it. Thanks Ray for playing 007 Goldeneye again on Xbox series X.
Anyone else noticing that Ray is struggling on/forgetting things he already knew in the previous playthrough? Most glaring one is Boris in Control. 2:08:32 , 2:14:08 , 2:17:19 edit add-on: To clarify, it's just funny to think he knew more between the like 10 year gap than he did in just a couple years.
I am exactly a month older than this game's American release. Never knew that growing up. Countless hours of getting absolutely destroyed by my older brother and our friend in multiplayer, despite screen peeking (yes, i got put in carboard box jail). My brother still has his copy, as well as our N64, so it's nice that i can still play the game on real hardware. Fun fact, the game's lag issues on Xbox have to do with the 30 FPS limiter and how it's implemented. It will induce slowdown in sections that could run faster than 30 FPS to keep frametimes consistent, meaning the FPS isn't dropping, but it feels like it because time is effectively dialating.
Felt like just yesterday l was watching you and gav wrestle to get to the game shelf in the tiny old AH office; super happy for ya and how far you’ve come. great vid buddy, thank you for the laughs
I recently completed this game. With the modern controls it wasn’t too bad. So much nostalgia from it. I also played for a few minutes on my sister’s switch and I found the best way or those awful controls was to play on a specific preset and hold the joycons in the opposite hands and it’s kind of like decent controls.
The 1.2 control style in the options works well on 64 controller, but it’s so weird on handheld mode, but somehow I don’t mind moving with right stick and aiming/looking with left
IIRC, everything explodes because that was the easiest/only way Rare knew how to do "damage." All the guns actually shoot tiny explosions instead of bullets.
Man, I was 16 when this game dropped, and this brings me back to the countless afternoons (and stupidly late nights) going ham with proximity mines in multiplayer. Drove my younger brother absolutely crazy. Good times.
Fun Fact: Nintendo has full say on the Goldeneye games and specifically stated the game for any non Nintendo releases had to be fully built from scratch as opposed to the switch using bits from the og release.
Love this, like every red blooded child at heart, but I’m still waiting for Ray to play 007: Agent Under Fire. That’s the pièce de resistance of the Bond games imo. 😍
My older brother and I played multi-player of this game growing up... He would destroy me every time! The memories, the rage.... Its all coming back... 😅
You know the second half of the game is gonna be good entertainment when it only took him a little over an hour to complete the first half of a 4 hour VOD...
@@anegwa Robin Beanland and Graeme Norgate deserve just as much credit as it was the three of them. Grant I believe didn’t stay on the project the whole time as he was working more on the Banjo games in the end among other projects.
One time Trevelyan blew himself up with one of his own grenades on the Cradle Level one the last times my eldest brother played it. We hear the explosion as my brother is approaching one of the 2 rooms with the sliding doors. My brother opens the door and there's a disappating cloud of smoke and Trevelyan's AR rifle on the floor. Never saw my brother so dumbfounded in my life... and had I not been there watching, I would never have believed it.
I know the gameplay doesn't hold up, but I gotta play this soon and see how far I can get. Shout out to my older brother for unlocking all the cheats or I would never have gotten past surface. This was a blast, Ray! And as always the music freaking slaps
I never played this game, Glasses. My parents didn't like games consoles, so I could only play on my siblings' consoles. Also, the game came out the year I was born.
HI GLASSES! I never played Goldeneye, did you?? I loved Pokemon Stadium and Mario Kart though! I was at the mercy of my cousins who owned the N64 and they didn't get anything else! Have a good day Glasses!
Whenever I see the goldeneye intro the only thing i can think about is the video of that dad firing it up after getting shit talked by his son. "This is yo ass Playa!"
Even if it was a half baked port, it was fun playing this again (legally) and going for all the cheats. Hopefully the actual remaster comes to modern hardware (again. legally)
Oh yeah, this version doesn't have leaning, does it (because of how they deliberately broke aim mode)... I guess the improved framerate still makes it easier than the original N64 version at least :')
You could say those ppl were trying to fill you with Pb and K sammiches.... Get it? Cuz Leads on the periodic table is Pb..... and bananas have potassium..... and potassium on the periodic table is K..... I'll see myself out.
I wonder if standing outside the room with the sentry guns, against the wall, and waiting will still cause Trevelyan to sometimes drop a grenade and kill himself.
You can kill Trev in the first room using the explosion from the turret. A speed runner did the final level under a minute (33 seconds) and injured him enough with that explosion that Trev was 1 shot at bottom of the ramp.
On the archive level you can pretty much avoid wasting too much bullets by taking cover and judo chop em,once you know your way round then your an ace at that level. In the short version of what im saying is dont use guns on that level
It's a real pet peeve when you have to unlock cheats and they disable achievements. Especially when it's stuff that has ZERO impact on difficulty. NO FUN FOR YOU!
Urgh, the Hogwarts Legacy ordeal...if we just ignore the posturing bullies, they'll get tired and move on to their next lie. Don't let them ruin what's being reviewed as a fantastic game.
For real. It's insane to think an extreme minority has the audacity to try and bully streamers into not playing by making up ridiculous stories about the game putting someone in danger. I doubt Ray actually cares about the supposed "controversy", he's probably just afraid the h-mind will come for him and affect his earnings.
That xylophone bit has to be one of the most satisfying things I've seen Ray do, so in sync
ray wasnt in nsync was he?
@@joeswanson420 Yeah when he said “Bye, Bye, Bye” to AH.
How is it that through all these years, Ray has managed to consistently be one of the most funny but genuine streamers out there

Ray employed the strategy that 8 year old used to when I was frustated and just wanted to get to the next level.

1:40:40 Bond had a heart attack from all the excitement
I was 2 months old when this game came out in August 1997! I can stay!!!

So does NIGHTFIRE 007

Looked it up. I wasn't BORN but I did EXIST when this game came out. I was born exactly 2 weeks later lol.
Literally been waiting for this since it came out last week

So glad this is on UA-cam cause I missed the stream
And the next James Bond will be... Ray Narvaez Jr!
Every time there's a mission brief screen, my brain - - -
"OH i MSS"
I don't remember when this came out but I remember playing it when I was like 6 or 7
Ray could try replaying all of the old PS2 Medal of Honor games :) :)
I just watched GoldenEye and I'm wondering why the music in the game is 10x better than the music in the movie.
Grant kirkhope is an amazing composer who got a fraction of what the james bond theme composer made for this game as well

Can’t decide if I want to play this on Xbox with the updates controls or on then switch with the classic crappy controls and my n64 controller.
I'm hoping this will be released on a game disk for xbox.

IDK why its just now hitting me but it seems they used every "stock" sound effect for this game except for the wilhelm scream.
