- I spent some scouting an area of Lake Sakakawea, and I'm bringing you along on my "graph cam" so you can see what I see and understand what I'm looking for in a good spot. And then, of course, it's fish-catching time!

I really enjoyed this. First year with a boat and the world is at my fingertips. Now I have to basically re-learn how to fish because finding the spots out there is nothing like google imaging shorelines and exploring accessible locations. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, and congrats on the boat!
I wish I was armed with this information before pulling lines through empty water today. ;) Sometimes we need to fish empty water to make the good days even better. Ha, ha! This was definitely one of your best content videos I’ve seen for information. Solid gold, Brett!
Well thanks, buddy!
This is a great video! I love how in-depth you got! We don’t need more videos of people catching fish we need to be taught how to find them ourselves!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice videos thanks for the info on how to
You bet
Only fish when a guy finds fish. Trust the electronics. Great information, as usual, Brett.
Thanks so much, man!
Great video!
Thanks, man!
Great content, editing and commentary. Differently a video that I’ve got to watch more than once, a great “reference video”! Hope to see more technical/technique videos like this on Sakakawea in the future.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Yeah this was a stellar video. Very technical but still easy to watch. Good editing and quality.
Great vid
I really enjoyed this video. Very useful information. I just got a new fish finder with a lot of good feartures like downscan and sidescan and this video gave me some really good tips on how to use it to find fish and not waste a lot of time on the water. Excellent job!
Thanks so much, glad to hear! Go get 'em!
Very good information on the chart . Great video sir!
Thanks so much!
Thanks Brett I only fish Douglas Bay, usully with my dog Finny.. Matter of stubborn pride. Nice to see what happens with others to see if I'm missing something. Forever a student.
Thanks, man! I so love Douglas Bay and the way it sets up, just couldn’t get them going this year there like I did two years ago.
Thanks for the video.
Unbelievable amount of bait in the water!
So much bait!
great video! helped me out...what gen is your Helix? didnt see yourmega DI
Gen 3.
Great vid. My pants look like yours do. I’m always wiping my hands on my pant. Glad to know I’m not the only one.
Ha! I get that comment from a few people now, so I thought it would be funny to highlight it 😊
Fantastic video. I was seeing a lot of fish on you 2D sonar, however, your DI wasn’t picking them up. Maybe tough to see on the video.
Thanks for the awesome content.
Thanks, man. And yeah, I often see fish on one or the other, I may have some tweaking to do.
Great informative video. Learning techniques and tips will keep me coming back!.
Lake names don't matter. Map breakdowns with video reference was great!.
Glad it was helpful!
Recommended graph for someone looking to upgrade an old unit on an older boat, id like to keep it under 1k$
You can get a Humminbird Helix 7 (Gen 4) with Down & Side Imaging for $550. That's hard to beat. Everything else is just screen size.
Why does traditional sonar show fish but this new side imaging and mega down imaging show nothing? Like in 14:45 of your video.....
Unfortunately, my DI transducer had been knocked loose from the bracket, and I didn't realize it until after filming the video, so it wasn't looking in the right direction.
One of your best videos by far. Way to go bloom. Make your life easier and get some left hand retrieve baitcasters. Picifun has some I use and they are like 40 bucks.
Thanks, man! I can’t switch, it’s too ingrained in muscle memory. I’ve tried it!
What are your settings on your Hummingbird. For sonar, side imaging and down imaging. Thanks. Nice video.
Don’t change too much out of box, but I do have the sensitivity set at around 15 on all of them, which is higher than presets. Can depend how much garbage floats in a given lake and how noisy it gets.
@@BloemendaalFishing Thanks!
I do not have hummingbird but noticed your down and side are using same frequency does that not cause interference on these units?
Perhaps, it gives me something to check anyway. I’ll be the first to admit I’m no expert on setup, much better at interpreting!
@@BloemendaalFishing I would look into it I know on the garmins I have "it can" not sayin it will or does i like your content just was something I noticed
I do this and it’s almost like when the fish aren’t there in my water body they just disappear and suspend over open water
That certainly happens in a lot of lakes late summer and early fall. Tough to target for sure.
@@BloemendaalFishing yea like I was in the French river and I was on them the other day now everything is gone! For shits I tried pulling deep diving cranks over 100’ of water and slapped a nice walleye
Yup. Guys catch them here at times fishing salmon in 140 feet.
how do i dial this in @@BloemendaalFishing
Where is your boat positioned on that screen? Does the graph start at the transducer?
If you're taking sonar and down imaging, the boat is far right, and things scroll to the left, so anything on the left side is stuff you drove over in the past with the transducer.
show much compared
to the 2d {
