  • Boat control is everything in walleye fishing. Being able to find fish, visualize where they are holding and position your boat to catch them is what separates the best from the rest. I hope this video helps you understand all of those things and ultimately puts more walleyes in your boat. Thanks for watching! Please subscribe.

Hey Tom ! Would you mind perhaps doing a video about your Humminbird settings? I Have a Humminbird helix 7 and have been playing with the unit over and over trying to fine tune it for trolling, Mostly having difficulty with chart speed sensitivity. Thanks !

I think it would be very cool if you made a video picking random lakes on graph maps and how you would dissect those lakes to pick the hot spots and best percentage areas given the time of year to catch fish. It would likely be super helpful for most people.

Where is the best place to find walleye on the flowage in early July and on what?

You need to some how block out your reflection into the screen.
If the walleye is of keeper size, please do not throw it back into the water, put into the live well and save it for supper. I don't ever see hunters letting there dead deer, turkey's, rabbits, pheasants etc go.

Tom has some of the best videos out there, showing technique. And especially on reading sonar. I have tried his slip bobbering technique. Works great. Pay attention to the small things he talks about. Will help, A LOT

Turn your casting rings on. Will help with boat positioning. Not sure if they are the same on helix as my solix - but in the solix the casting rings radiate from your boat.

    Tom,
Love your videos. Got into Walleye fishing a few years ago, so still a novice at it. Any chance you could do a river Walleye video? I get one week a year to fish Walleye on the lakes of Northern Michigan, but the rest of the time I'm regulated to fishing smaller local rivers. I've only caught one Walleye on the river, but it might have been more luck than skill. I know it's more casting jigs with a downstream presentation, but was hoping you had some river tactics you'd be willing to share. Thanks for the videos and keep up the great work!!!

Ron Young the week you get to spend on a lake, if it's in May or June try this at night.. chug bug or rapala sp5 7 or 9, or even the cheap rebell popper.. in shallow water.. hint: don't try setting hook on the sound of the hit, you will yank it away, wait to feel it before setting.. on River I troll
